Somebody took my truck!!!!!!!

Just sharing a funny memory.

When I first got out of the Air Force in 1973 I took a job driving 18 wheelers hauling steel out of Ohio.

The company I worked for had a fleet of 600 Mack trucks, all painted white and 600 Trailmobile Flatbed trailers, all painted red.

There was a big truckstop near one of the mills where we would often load and a lot of the drivers hung out in there.

One day there were about 15 drivers all sitting together in the truckers dining room and one of the guys looked out the window to see one of our company trucks pulling out of the truckstop. One of the drivers said,,,"I wonder who that uppity SOB is that didn't at least stop by to say hi?"

About an hour later we all decided to leave so as we were walking to the parking lot, the driver who had complained in the restaraunt hollered out,,,,,"Somebody stole my truck!"

Sure enough, as luck would have it, it had been his truck we saw pulling out and we all sat there watching as if it was normal.....LOL

About a month later his truck was recovered nearly 2000 miles away..

Pup, your story reminds me of what happened to a girlfriend many years ago:

After a night of dancing, a group of 'regulars' went to the local coffee shop/cafe, where we all took a booth by the window. About 2 a.m., my girlfriend said 'did you see that - someone just hit that car and knocked it clear out into the highway'!

We all sat there, waiting for the police to arrive, which they did. They had the 'hitter' in their car and in a few minutes, an officer came in and announced 'is the owner of the silver Olds in here?' Everyone sat looking around, waiting for the owner to speak up. Then the officer said 'it is registered to a Ms. Pulley - is she here?

We all realized, in unison, that it was my girlfriend's car - talk about 'DUH'! LOL

Had my VW stolen in the late 60's.

Met my father at the mall, and went in to meet him for dinner.

He walked me to the spot where I parked my car, and it was not there.

Dad questioned and questioned me:

Are you sure you parked here?

Did you park at the other end of the mall?

Did you drive somebody's car?

Did somebody drive you?

Same answer, NO, I parked right here.

Then VW's were prime targets for stealing.

Never saw or heard anymore about it after filing a police report.

Linda, here is the explanation of everything I sent. I forgot to do it before I sent it, and I wanted to tell you about things. The bag - As you figured out, it is from Lands End. One of the places we HAVE to go when we visit Madison is the "not quite perfect" outlet on State Street. I loved those bags, and I thought they were a good size for toting around a little of summer's bounty. I thought it was a pretty good size for lots of things. They had a special sale on the monogrammed ones, and I can't resist practical things that are on special sale. I didn't know if it was tacky to send something that had been monogrammed for someone else, but then I figured "What the heck? I AM a little tacky!" The mustards - the only one they didn't have samples of was the chocolate/fig one, but it sounded so intruiging. I can't wait to hear whether it is good, or just really gross. Lol The popcorn - I got some of it. It's from the Dane County Farmer's market, which is a big Madison attraction. It is held all around the courthouse every Saturday. We always go, and my husband spends about a hundred bucks on CHEESE from Bleu Mont Dairy. I wish I could have sent you some of that! Had it been cold weather, I would have tried. I got some popcorn for myself too, but I was disappointed in it. Maybe you will have better luck. I gave up and bought some Orville Re-bacher. I tried it after I sent the box, so I didn't know how it would be. The basil olive oil - It won some big award, but I can't remember what it was It sounded yummy to me. I hope it is! It was also from the dane county market. Bee Charmer Honey - (Dane market) That honey was pulled the night before I bought it. It is Black Locust honey, and I don't think I have ever seen any that is so light in color. Maple bear and syrup -(Dane market) I am a sucker for a cute bear. :) I figure you probably have plenty of maple syrup up there, but you can't have too much maple syrup! Rhubarb season was going strong while we were there, and I couldn't send you a pie, so some preserves sounded like a good compromise. Brady Street Cheese Sprinkle- I used some on my popcorn, and had the popcorn not been so small and hard, it would have been quite yummy. I will try again with Orville Garlic- There are two types, but by the time I got them home I could not tell them apart. They were dug the morning I bought them. Two potholders in a black and cream design- It's easy to find that design in pastures around Madison, on the backs of Holstein cows. Wisconsin is the land of cheese, so I thought those were appropriate. Those cows are cute! I even got slobbered on by one. But the potholders had nothing to to with that little interaction, I swear! :) Plastic spoon with a smiley face- That's from Orange Tree Imports. Another store I like to visit when I am there. Also the silicon brush. I love my silicone brush. They didn't have any just like mine, but I hope that one is good. Evert-Fresh green bags -I bought a case of them from ebay a year or so ago. My fridge is full of them. They help with some things more than others. My favorite thing is to trim the bottoms of parsley and cilantro with a knife under running water and put them in a glass of water with a green bag over them. Cilantro usually goes bad so fast in my fridge, but this keeps it very well. I hope you enjoy everything!

Once again, thanks so much to all of you who have taken the time to write . . . I so appreciate it !!! Seeking, thanks for your sympathy and idea of searching the make with +problems . . . I did plug that in, and amazingly enough, came up with OTHER problems we've already had with this dang truck !!! On some other sights, I also did find some similar things . . . And, on another entirely different note . . . . I hope your little puppy continues to recover nicely . . .poor little thing .. I was so sorry to hear that . . just an awful thing to have to go through . . . my good thoughts to puppy and you !!! dktrahan, thanks for the Dodge websites . . . I got quite a lot of useful stuff from them . . . I was on the computer last evening . . . late . . so much so, that my poor eyes are tired tired tired today . . . but I am so determined to get to the root of all of this . . . Sue, not to worry . . . but the husband factor in all of this is really trying . . . too much to go into, but basically it's not helping this situation . . .at all !! He's blaming me and DS for even buying a Dodge product to begin with . . . So, wanted to make it clear that my son is being a total champ through all of this . . . Nina, I think that will be the next step . . . to take it back to the original dealer and tell them to just keep it until they get it figured out . . . and IF they can't figure it out, then somehow, I'm going to try to make them responsible for selling us this truck to begin with !! Someone has to take responsibility for this, and to "eat" the loss . . . Don't think it should be us . . . Supposedly the truck was certified, and I'm thinking that's worthless !!! I feel that we're kind of between a rock and a hard place . . . I'm too honest to not disclose problems with the truck if it comes to trading it in . . I certainly don't want anyone else to have to go through this . . . but we just can't afford to have 18K go down the drain, either . . . We don't want another Dodge product, but I'm wondering if we would have more leverage with the selling dealership if we did go with a new Dodge, then get rid of it at another time . . . Oh heck . .. I have such neck strain, headaches and eyes aches through all of this . . . . . Oh, and re: the computer reprogramming . . . I talked with our friend yesterday who originally diagnosed the problem as needing to reprogram the computer . . . He COULD NOT believe that Dodge wouldn't do that . . . could not believe that Dodge said they wouldn't take responsibliy for anything that might go wrong because of the re-programming . . . I asked if he would mind if I had the Dodge guy call him and they could hash it over . . (they are acquaintances, having worked together years ago) He he didn't mind at all . . . called the Dodge guy, he told me WHY he didn't want to re-program it, saying he had to answer to Dodge as to why it was re-programmed when they couldn't get the problem to duplicate . . . said that even if they did re-program it, that that might not be the problem, which I can understand. I told him plain and simple though, that the truck, to us, is not safe to drive. Oh, and another thing . . .in an e-mail from our service adviser yesterday, he said that assuming there is a problem, that it WILL get worse, to the point of engine failure, and THEN we can bring it back and they'll know what to do !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, so digressing a bit . . . back to the main service guy . . . he suggested that they could just keep it and he'd have his techs drive it home at night to try to duplicate the situation . . also saying that his techs were more experienced drivers than my son, and if anything should go wrong on the freeway, that they'd know more how to handle it . . . Now, all of this just does not leave me with warm fuzzy feelings !!!!!!!!!!!! Bill, thanks for the clogged catalytic converter tip. I e-mailed that suggestion, along with a list of other things that I gleaned from some of the Dodge forums. The catalytic problem sounds so much like what's going on with the truck . . . I'm so wondering just exactly what they've done to check into all of this . . . whether it's just driving the truck to try to duplicate the situation, or really getting into it. My friend that has his own shop told me that dealers really don't like working on warranty work . . . at all !! and sometimes do just what they have to to get it out the door. He did highly recommend this dealership, but for the life of me, and maybe I'm just naive . .. but I can't figure out why THEY can't figure out what's going on !!!!! Amber, we are set up with the title iv d support office to go after bm to get her to pay her support. There is no dealing with them on past due support. It's due period. They won't take it off unless it's paid. I've been dealing with them with my ds11's case for 11 years also and my dh is adopting ds11.... they have told me time and time again there is no taking back support off until it's paid in full. I don't have to be told again that that can't happen. I also would NEVER do that. Like I said, I have receipts for EVERYTHING for the past year as far as extracurricular activities and medical bills that she owes for. It's $393 total. So, if she'd like to pay her attorney to draw this up and go to court I'm all for that. I'll bring all my receipts that prove what she's supposed to pay. I've just recently won a medical bill war with ds11 bd. I had no lawyer, just receipts. I won. So, I guess we can take out everything else I said dh paid for.... we still are owed more then she is and this doesn't even include the back support. I threw all that extra in to show that she's a biotch and is totally selfish. And just so we are clear here..... whenever my dh paid for any of those things it was because she would tell him ss would just go without because she wasn't going to get it. So he would have had shoes that were too small or raggity hair, etc. We could have also taken her back to court asap back then for a lower support order because we had him more then the 10% of the time the original order was drawn up for.... we had him more then half the time. I did consult an attorney about that then. DH just decided he didn't want to fight her. Again, I'm fine if she wants to take this to court. I have my receipts that prove she owes us more then we owe her. So in the end she'll owe us and her attorney. That's totally fine with me. I'll see her there with bells on. I keep meticulous records now with her because I learned with her that she can't be trusted. I dare her. Let's go. Also, dh can't remember if he paid it or not. I didn't think he did... but since technically I won't be allowed to speak.... and he's not lying by saying he didn't know if he paid it or not we can go with that. It wasn't to be paid through the courts anyway, it was to be paid to her directly. So after 11 years I doubt she can show proof that it wasn't paid as well as we can't show proof that it was. I honestly don't believe a judge will side with her on this.... and again if he did.... she'll still owe us money in the end. Psuedo.... it's not technically on credit yet. It's not going to be reported anywhere unless we all stop paying. DS16's bd was set up with them to pay half each month. Yes, it's in our name but they will call us when they don't receive their payment. Then we call them and biotch at them. In the end I paid ds16's braces fee..... and I'll be taking that bd to court soon if he's not paying me back. I give him a break more then anyone else because he does most everything else he's supposed to do.... just not buy Christmas. UGH..... If she doesn't pay, in the end we will pay it but she'll be going to court to get that to us. And no, I'm not worried about paying an attorney, I'll go pro se. I already won this argument in November with ds11 bd. All you have to have is a receipt. I'll also get her to pay by threatening that if we go to court we will go to court to have her support raised as well. When support was established she didn't have a job.... she has a good job now she just doesn't want to part with her drug/alcohol money. I know this sounds horrible and manipulating but it works to get the bio parents to pay sometimes. She's more manipulative then anyone I know so she deserves some in return. This orthodontist will work with me because I should own at least a door to his building. Spending like $20000 and staying on top of the payments gets you some assistance if that pos doesn't help out. They won't just send us away.

Many years ago, my family owned a service station next to I-95 in W.Melbourne, FL. One night, the night attendant closed up and went home, but left the keys in the wrecker we had. It was stolen and never heard from again.

And one day, several years ago, 2 guys in an unmarked wrecker (no, not the same one, ha!) came down our long, private driveway, thru the woods, to our house. They were just starting to hook it up to my husband's Toyota pickup when he wandered out of the house to see why the dogs were barking. Needless to say, they left in a big hurry, wondering probably why he was holding one hand behind his back. No, it wasn't an empty threat. They tried to say it was all a mistake, wrong place, sorry, but we doubt that. Our address isn't like anyone elses around here. If he had ignored the dogs, he'd have lost a truck.

My neighbor had cars stolen out of his place (he doesn't live there and his dad had a junkyard many years ago. They were very old junk cars. Probably 50's models when cars had some weight. If I would have seen them, I would have helped load them. About once a month someone would come up the driveway and want to buy them from me. Missed my chance!
Neighbor brought 2 more clunkers in - later models and I wish someone would take them too. Trouble is vines have them covered over.
Cute story about the truck being stolen. Bet that guy didn't live that one down soon.

These are funny stories. My brother had his car stolen when he lived in St. Louis. Right at Christmas time.

I'll always remember him telling us how he'd gotten up in the wee hours to deliver a baby, jumped in his car and it wouldn't go. The thieves had taken the tires and rims off and left the car sitting on some chunks of firewood. That was in Mississippi.

I've never had a vehicle stolen.

About 10 years ago, my husband and I moved to a new house in a new development. Only one street in and out, with just 12 houses total in the development. I got up to go to work one morning and noticed that one of my husband's truck was not in the driveway. This was not unusual as he has two and he often let his staff drive one overnight if they had personal car trouble. BUT, as I was driving to work, I thought, geez--wasn't his truck in the driveway when I shut the garage door before bed? So I turned around, drove back home, went inside and asked my husband, "where's your truck?". His answer "outside", me: "no, it's not", him: "yes, it is:. Me: "NO, IT's NOT". He goes outside and of course his truck is not there. Call the county sheriff office and he says "I'll be right there". Less than 5 seconds later, he's coming down the street from the cul-de-sac. Every house on our street that had a vehicle outside of the garage was broken into, and when they got to our house, they stole the truck to haul everything off! The truck was recovered 3 days later in another county after they ran out of gas. We couldn't believe not one single person on the street heard anything that night!

We lost some derelict cars to thieves - we thought the ex-tenants were removing their junk till one day we they took DH's vehicle which was in the same area. Finally called the tenants and no they were not removing them. Pulled the trail cam from the driveway and had shots of each of the vehicles being removed on a trailer, we ID'd the trailer tags. Scary as they were coming on days that I was on the farm alone. We called the sheriff and filed a report. The next week, sure enough they came back and tried to take my dumptruck! Hysterical photos of a small pick up with a tow bed trying to remove a truck twice it size. Even the neighbors watched the fiasco (not knowing it was our truck), as he had to stop several times to re-secure it. Icing on the cake was that the tow truck had a name & phone #. Got it back and caught the thieves but no time served and no restitution. Worthless cretins!
