I am not sure how you are managing to repost this obnoxious message at the top of all the messages day after day. I don't give a rat's a** about you and your issues with Mary. PLEASE STOP!!!

Uh oh. Somebody took the grumpy pill. It was posted at the top each day because if no one answers it, it just stays at the top! Your reply was quite a bit over the top if you ask me. I don't know Mary, or the original poster but your response was way out of line. Happy Mothers Day.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not that cynical and suspicious. We're just happy gardeners who like a good plant-related bargain. Yeah, it does depend on the individual store. I have two within 10 minutes of my house. One has a larger garden center and thus more space to keep all the plants well displayed. The smaller one is the one with the great clearance rack. I guess they can't afford to have plants past their prime in prime display locations, so they clear them out. Connie, I'm still laughing about the dandelion sale. That's too funny. Regarding Picea glauca DaisyÂs White - this plant was entered into a major plant exhibition in Holland by Mr J Jeurissen-Wijnen, the plant originator. He was advised to shorten the name to DaisyÂs White by the growers at that exhibition because of its high commercial potential. He agreed to the change. I donÂt have a sworn affidavit IÂm afraid, so you will have to take my word that DaisyÂs White is now the accepted name in Europe, so should also be adopted by the US. As for the issue with the word ÂbroomÂ being part of a plant name, technically it might not be correct (although I canÂt find anything in the Cultivated Code that actually excludes the word Âbroom) but itÂs my opinion that the word ÂbroomÂ can form part of the plant name and not just be seen as a descriptive word. I have, in fact, named three of my brooms to include the word ÂbroomÂ in the plant name and as far as IÂm concerned no one person has the right to delete that part of the name. As for Picea pungens St MaryÂs Broom, unless there is a general agreement by, for example the majority of major growers, collectors/experts, ACS to change it - then the name should stay as it is. There is no point in Coenosium Gardens listing it as St Mary and Iseli, for instance, still listing it as St MaryÂs Broom. Confusion once again, as this thread has already demonstrated. Most people know nothing of the Cultivated Code and just see two different plant names and wonder if itÂs the same plant. Also, of course, there are hundreds of conifer names with technically incorrect names according to the Code Â how, for example do all the Czech names fit into the code, as their language is based on descriptive names. Besides, the Cultivated Code is a work in progress and not something that is set in stone, and is in fact constantly being amended. So, in my opinion, plant names should be left well alone until enough research has been done, and general agreement has been reached to warrant a change.

I don't believe you can leave random feedback on a seller (or buyer), you have to have purchased (or sold) something. Now I suppose I could sell stuff to my friends or create fictitious accounts and write the feedback myself. Of course, you'd be paying eBay a fee for everyone one of those transactions and I have to believe that their security folks might watch for that kind of stuff. I haven't bought or sold much on eBay but what I have has been a positive experience. A few years back I was doing some Internet work for a used car dealer. A customer had mentioned that they had seen the vehicle on eBay. News to us since we didn't use eBay at the time but sure enough someone had "borrowed" the pictures and description of the vehicle from the dealership's website and actually SOLD the vehicle on eBay. I frantically tried to find a customer service phone number for eBay so that they could contact the buyer before he sent any money. Unfortunately, eBay doesn't seem to have a phone number. I sent off an email and then tried to inquire what had happened but eBay would only tell me that the matter was under investigation. The interesting part is that the vehicle was reasonably worth about $16,000 but it had sold on eBay for $9,000. When something seems to good to be true...

Step away from the tea's. LOL! If you want to save your sanity, you will. I'm in the same zone as you. Same state, although I am coastal, right next to Boston and you are in the western part of the state, right? Anyway, about 10 years ago I went crazy for roses.. picked them solely on looks. This can get very expensive. There are many, many beautiful roses and the teas are especially beautiful. I googled images of Heirloom, I can see why you want it. That said... I planted 9 roses in my side garden and 5 in the other side garden, both sides are in the front of my house. My house has a weird setup. With the exception of 2, all of them were a PIA, some were bigger PIA's than others. All of them bit the dust. Ooh, sorry..it was 3 not 2. Sort of. One of the survivors reverted back to Dr. Huey....it is amazing, huge. Only blooms once a year but it looks spectacular right now sharing a Rose of Sharon tree with 2 blooming clematis's. I don't remember what rose it was when I bought it. Blackspot, fungus, bugs, etc. I had a gorgeous rose in the front side garden with 5. It is a lovely, pale pink with a slightly silver tinge. Very slight.. not that icky silver. This rose was in the middle of 2 others that were covered with blackspot, constant spraying, etc. Not only did this rose not suffer from anything, it grew to 3 to 4 times it's original size and it bloomed just about non stop. And talk about pretty! Oh my! Every stage of bloom was fabulous and the blooms lasted, too. This rose is called Our Lady of Guadalupe. After the first year I planted nothing but her in the front side garden. And I never did anything special, at all, to help them. I am what you'd call a "good enough" gardner. I have a bad back and terribly rocky soil. Carefully thought out garden beds did not happen here. I would try and dig a hole and run into concrete sometimes. Lots of my plants/flowers went where it was easiest. I don't do anything to my roses, not in season, nor in the winter. They've been through Nor Easters and frigid temps. It wasn't until this past winter that I lost all of my LOG's. We had gas problems and the gas company dug up the whole front side garden. I was amazed that anything came back. But I need to go out and get at least 3 OLG'S. The other rose is a lovely striped rose. I have 2 of them. Very pretty. No complaints except for the thorns. It has to be the thorniest rose ever! Oh, and forgot to mention that in addition to all of Our Lady's charms, she is almost thorn less, to boot! Anyway, the striped rose is George Burns. Both GB and OLG are floribundas. If you love the height of the teas, try a couple of grandiflora's. Roses are wonderful... but they can be a madness, too. The message you are seeing at the bottom of the email (PLEASE NOTE: The member responding to your post has chosen not to reveal his or her email address. Therefore, you cannot reply to this message via email) only means that you are not able to respond by clicking reply within your email account. However, there is a way to send them a response ... go to their 'My Page' and respond to them from there. Neither of you has to unblock your email address.

You do not have to respond via email. If they are set up to be able to receive email, you can respond to them from their My Page the same way they emailed you.

I noticed something that made me change my settings ... When you email someone, if they have their email revealed, GW will automatically show you the person's email address. Just in case any spammers ever come trying to harvest email addresses, I thought it would be a good idea to change my settings. Because I use my real, work email address in GW, not a fake throwaway address. Click the first link below and you will see an example of how you can see that person's email address. Typically, when I send a private message to someone using GW, I include my email address in the body of the message, so they can respond without having to search me out using My Page. But I can still keep my email address private within my settings.

I have sent a suggestion asking GW to make this message that appears at the bottom of the email more clear, because it is very confusing how they have it worded. You can send a suggestion too ...

Angela,

What you have said is true, to an extent. But some people have their accounts set up so that no one can email them.

Qaguy has been on GW long enough that I am sure he is familiar with going to someone's page to email them, so I am sure he tried to do that and "Mary" isn't set up to receive emails from anyone.
