I think that's her name. She's the one who cared for a lot of animals, then bought an old house, had it moved and is fixing it up. I enjoyed following the progress of that project but haven't seen her post in ages. I also really enjoyed her posts about the animals.

I miss her! If she is reading, I hope she will e-mail me. I'd love to know how she is doing and how the house renovation is progressing.

Wow, great minds think alike! LOL I have been wondering about her as well. But I am confused. Wasn't she remodeling her house, including the kitchen, back in 2007? I remember because DH and I were going to Italy and she told a story about her trip to Venice. I jokingly invited her to join us but she was in the middle of remodeling. And she had this picture of her decorated temporary kitchen in the garage. Did she halt the remodeling? I have been mostly wondering about her son who had a rare condition and they were fighting it w/o using tube-feeding. Was he able to overcome it? How is he? I have been genuinely concerned and waiting for the promised headlines about the "first family to overcome ..." Igloo or her "mommy", if you are reading this, could you update on the status?

Well reading this thread has made me both giggle and cry. A lot of memories, a lot of missing friends. And surprises, hello to Ginger, has been a long time since I've seen you post anywhere. You sound happy with your life. Good for you, and welcome back. Thanks to all who have brought us up to date on some that are missing. I can do some fill ins.................................. Damon is now in Memphis (I think) TN, divorced from his wife who was a KTer too. He is a graphic artist. Tammi & Joyce opened a forum..Our Humble Home (I think) Liz GA is busy with a new granddaughter who is cute as a button. I see her on FB. I miss so very many, glad to see some came back to post on this thread. Haven't heard anything from BenCA, or Mushy from Fresno, Ginnia, Thornbird. I just heard from Kathy-Lees son, he gave her my contact info, she said she would reach out to me. I sooooo hope so, but nuttin yet. I keep up with several at the Treehouse forum, JayJay, Spunky, SteveFL, Bump, KBB, Marty. Others I see on FB. But it's not like the KT was back in the day.

"Have you ever seen a hamburger, whopper or any of the other (mostly fast) foods the size of the ones in the ads? Surely deceptive, but apparently the public doesn't care." They are required to show a burger the same size and weight as the ones they sell. They do not just pick one up at the fast food joint, bring it to the studio. and photograph it. They have food stylists who work on creating a good looking burger for the pics. This means cooking it less than rare so it does not shrink, and slicing it and widening it for the photo so it looks like it is huge and hanging out of the bun. Veggies are all pushed forward for the photo to look like they are ample. Buns are baked and each seasame seed is hand glued on in an attractive pattern. Fries are specially selected and toothpicks are inserted to keep them straight and each one is strategicaly placed in the cup in a pleasing arrangement. The right camera angle is used. The burger is held by smaller hands. Ect. Food stylist tricks are used for all food commerials. Each piece of cereal is hand placed in the bowl with tweezers to look good. They use heavy cream or Kifir so the cereal does not soak up and get soggy. Turkeys are cooked only to their skins, raw inside, and the skin is coated with soy sauce to make it look golden. The part that is to be sliced is blasted by a torch so that part looks cooked when sliced. Apparently a lot of people never think of this being done. A friend of mine told me a story of how the first thing he wanted to do when he moved to America was run to McDonalds and have a Big Mac, that he had seen and heard so much about. He said he was soooo disappointed at the gloppy, gluey mess wrapped in paper that he got. And his car got broken into while he was inside eating it.

Jasdip, we would never let the animals go hungry. The shelter in Galveston has continued to donate to me because I took in several of their unadoptable cats, and they have been very good to me. When we don't have food, we buy it. Actually, Mare, she dumped me. I am glad to be rid of her, but was strapped by the food issue. Now though, she has given her "permission" that my wildlife can have food. The donors never realized that 90% of the donated food went to me because my animals are all alive. Dead animals don't eat very much. Actually, she has taken to "farming" out most of the animals brought to her, so they are in better hands because most people who take them to raise, really want to do right by them. Oh, Lord! The pig situation!! I had Pig Sue...spayed, big pet. She was stolen but not before Pig Lee showed up....wild...and later, Pig Newton. Pig Lee was too wild to get spayed and by the time she was tame, too big. She and Newton had many children....I think we have sold about 40 of them so far. Her oldest daughter, Delores, and she had 11 pigs this spring. They are all big enough to go now and as much as I hate to see Pig Lee go, I can't keep having all these baby pigs. Pig Newt weighs about 600 lb. He is wild but he will take food from my hand. I don't try to pet him though, because he could be dangerous, especially if he got scared. The horses and donkeys and mule are fine........however, we may be welcoming a little mule foal in a few months. My donkeys were fighting, so had to separate them until we could get them gelded. Due to having to keep them in pastures that didn't adjoin, Amos went in with the mares. I didn't worry too much about him breeding the mares, until I saw him breed "my mare"....Mariah. I am not 100% sure she settled, but I have been watching her carefully.....and from what I know about such things, I think so. I could have her checked by the vet, but I will know soon enough. I wouldn't care if one of the other mares had a mule foal, but if it happens, it will probably be Mariah. Here is a picture of Pig Newton.

I'm sad to hear that she got upset. I wish everyone would just let all the negative comments go. It isn't a personal slam - just people having a bad moment.

I agree I wish she'd post here again. I love reading about her adventures with the critters and their progress on the house (which I have not a doubt in my mind will be fabulous when they are finished with it). She's a neat lady and I'm so sorry she isn't here.

Thanks for asking about me. You can find me on Facebook...Marilyn Stout Collins. I think it is set so anyone can read it...if you are a member. There are some stories in the Notes section about the animals...although you have probably heard them all before. There are two pages of them...starts with Wizard the horse. There are lots of pictures of the animals...I have raised more than 100 baby possums this year. To see all the pictures, click where it says "See all photos". I have donkeys now and my new plant interest is epiphyllums, so there are albums for them. I am getting back into waterlilies. Still working on the house...there is a link under the album "Pictures" that goes to the Picasa album that shows the house. We have done more that I haven't photographed...took out a partition and enlarged the kitchen and move the glass doored cupboard across the room. My husband is only home one week out of the month, so it is slow but we try to get something done every time he is home. I just checked and the albums are set to everyone. I will try to figure out what the problem is. I do think you have to be a member of facebook. I think there is a link that you can click so that anyone can view the pictures. I will try that and maybe it will work.
