I think it's time for another prize drawing!

We did this last year, and it was a lot of fun, so let's do it again.

The photo below shows three pictures I didn't use in this year's show. They're 8x10" (bigger than last year) unframed prints. If you'd like to have one, respond in this thread and let me know which, if any, you'd prefer.

At the end of the day on Tuesday I'll close the contest and hold a drawing. Then the winners can let me know via email where to send the pictures.

The theme is purple! The photos are of a nicotiana blossom, the inside of a petunia, and . . . buds. The only problem is I don't remember what kind of buds! Phlox, maybe? It looks like phlox leaves. What ever they are, they're covered in dew and are very pretty. (If anyone has a better guess, please share.)

Picture #2 would look great in my newly painted purple bathroom! Purple is my favorite color.

All 3 would look great in my purple bedroom. Do I have to choose just one? I would take any one you sent me. I guess I would have to say #2.

You can learn a lot about watering when you grow roses in pots. You water them one day a lot and before you know it they are dry. Water doesn't stay like it does in the ground. Or, if you don't have drainage they can stay wet and that is worse. Also, you wash nutrients out and you expose the tender hair roots to the side and the bottom of the pot. The ground stays at an even temperature but pots do not. They can get hot. And finally, roses do not like to be confined. My experience is roses in pots are always stunted and unhappy.

This thread has certainly showed those who have the inflated opinions of themselves, elitist and the like. Don't hurt yourselves when you fall from your high horses. Not unlike grouchy when she put words and allegations into my mouth over her favorite (or was it her family's?) store and making claims about working conditions (that of course was never said, implied or alluded to), here too shows the number who live each day to find a problem with one word. A few letters of the alphabet. The root cause of political correctness, perhaps? Not unlike the hullabaloo trying to ban Huckleberry Finn. Bookburners of the world are uniting on that one it seems. It's silliness. And yes, stupid. When will people learn that some letters put together are not (or at least should not be) offensive to reasonably rational people. The "n" word is offensive if a non-black says it but it's not when a black says it. So guess words and letters aren't the cause of it are they? I could go on, but it'll only give the elitists more fodder to find a word or a few letters they don't like and get their feathers ruffled. And that might be stupid, wouldn't it? Like the song says, it's only words. Many of these comments were about as ridiculous as the hoopla over the word "garbage" not long ago. Obviously certain people get hysterical over certain words. There are certain words and phrases that I don't like but I usually try to not become a nutcase over it when someone says it! I'm not surprised that the "feelgooders" took offense to a simple comment. To them, we should only feel sorry for people who repeatedly bypass red flags. We have to feel sorry for the people who move road blockades and drive into flooded roads. We have to feel sorry for people who won't learn when they get scammed over and over again. Now you will see this twisted again into comments about the demented, the elderly and otherwise.

One of the examples of it are putting marshmallows in a jar, then vacuum sealing it. Without the gravity, they expand, probably double in size. Then put them in a bag, vacuum seal them and you'll flatten them. For storing soft items, or even liquids, put them into a container to protect it put it in a bag and then vacuum seal. You can even cover it and poke some holes in the container and a good vacuum sealer will still draw the air out. I don't use the bags for vacuum sealing. I mostly use canning jars or the vacuum containers. If and when I start using it more (again) I'll probably start using some bags again. They're just a little spendy. No need for him to feel stupid. It's a learning experience.

Good the desk isn't blue. :-) Do you have the overhead Birdseye view of the layout that you could post? The one other thing jumping out at me is that one upper cabinet next to the corner glass to the counter upper. I cannot see due to the angle of the drawing what's happening on the other side of the window (sink side). I think another matching upper on the left side would look balanced, but I cannot tell what's happening there. I think BB has a point about that large fridge freezer unit. It does look to be crowding a bit on that side. But as I said, it might be because the angle is not showing that side.

I have told you this before, I would be honored to have any of your photos! And yes, we have a lot of purple lovers it seems. I really love the texture in #1.

Purple is my DH and I's (is that correct grammar) color and also our Daughter's. Any of them would be awesome for the computer lab at school. DH does a technolgy class and taking pics like these would be a great lesson.

No it isn't, Stacie, but you don't lose any points. :-)

I'm a writer, but we have better grammar mavens than I on this forum. I'm thinking it should be Purple is my DH's and my color, but I'd probably duck the issue and say instead, My DH and I love the color purple.
