Joan Rivers in Critical Condition!

(CNN) -- Joan Rivers was rushed to the hospital Thursday morning after she stopped breathing, a source confirmed to CNN.
A law enforcement official told CNN the comedienne stopped breathing during throat surgery. Rivers, 81, was then rushed in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
In 2013, Rivers allowed cameras to record a health scare for her and her daughter's reality show, "Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?"
Rivers said on the show that doctors found a spot on an X-ray after she had a persistent cough.

"We're just not going to be sad about this," Rivers said during the episode. "We're gonna do jokes and be up until we know. That's how I deal with things. I'm not just gonna sit around the next couple of days and go crazy."
Rivers has been open about her health issues. She was diagnosed with osteoporosis in 2002 after a fall down some stairs left her with broken bones, and she became an advocate for screenings for women.
She also admitted to not being as healthy as she could be.
"I try not to be, but I'm a terrible eater," she said. "I wish I could say I eat super-healthy, but I don't. I love junk food -- it should be its own food group -- so I help my bones with supplements and medicine."

Here is what I don't understand. Why wasn't she already in the hospital while having surgery?

Containers have the advantage of as was said good feeder roots. They can also be planted any time of the year in most areas...though I would avoid shock if they just came form a greenhouse by letting them adjust to the area for up to a week before transplant. Disadvantages: Transmit pests and disease in soil which is why your local Ag is not too wild about containers being shipped into the state. Cost of shipping high. Trunk caliper large so no fruit bushing few viable eyes down low. If you buy a container from a local nursery during bare root season it likely will fall apart and leave you holding a severely pruned bare root.= that was planted a few weeks before. You should take a hose and remove all soil before planting into their permanent site. Container soil is often not good planting soil, plus you can inspect, spread out and prune the roots if needed. As to preference...I don't care much. Bareroots are cheaper and with a DWN SOFT order through a cooperating nursery I can get most on the rootstock I want at half the price of a container tree. I have ordered trees from Rolling Ridge, Burnt Ridge and DWN/Bay Laurel, Trees of Antiquity, Sanhedrin, Raintree, Stark, Grandpa, Just Fruits and Nuts, and Willis. Willis is the only one I would not order from again unless they were the sole source. Be warned the nurseries well out of your area may not carry cultivars that will do well in your area or on a good rootstock for your area. I would only look there if your orchard is full of varieties known to do well in your area and now you are now experimenting.

Some of our DH's must be brothers. Unless HE thinks it's a good idea or I drag him along, he's not for it. But like Annie's DH, he always has a good time and talks it up after we get back. Just a couple of weeks ago a buddy of his was talking about what a fabulous time they had on a river cruise, and he sort of mentioned going on one in passing one day. Imagine my shock! Even though he's been lukewarm to my ideas on it, I now have hope!! And I'm on it!

I just watched her the other night on Fashion Police discussing Emmy and VMA fashion. I couldn't believe this when I heard.

I hope she rallies and gets back to her old acerbic witty ways.

It's sad to hear about anyone having an unfortunate medical experience, so I hope (as with anyone else) she recovers.

As for her personally, I don't care for her. Her Don Rickles-esque shtick grew tiresome 25 years ago, she's always the same, there's nothing new. Her present hideous appearance is a joke, a caricature for how ridiculous people can look when they overdo plastic surgery.

I do like her, but not as much recently. She has spouted a series of very tasteless and hurtful dialogues. I actually thought of contacting her daughter to recommend that her mother get checked for dementia.

At any rate, I know how close she is with her daughter. This will be very very hard on Melissa.

I just read that she has died. She was doing so well, at her age. I wonder how necessary that surgery was. I'm sure she thought to come out of it just fine. Too bad. She was enjoying life.

What took so long? She *died* in the clinic. What did anyone think they could do for her by putting her in ICU?

This is an example of why I want clear orders for myself.

I never cared for her brand of humor, but she sure knew how to keep her name in lights.
