Friend emailed this local Craigslist ad from a man looking for a woman:

Looking for a woman to manage my home, farm, and kids. You would be responsible for all the household work, including bookeeping (I will be responsible for earning an income, but you will need to maintain a tight/limited budget. You should be frugal), cleaning, cooking, etc. I like to come home to a clean house and food prepared. Sometimes, I like to BBQ or cook, but most of the meals would be your responsiblity. I think home cooked food is best, so no prepackaged stuff). Sex is also very important to me. I'd like it at least three times a week, but prefer daily. I'm not into romance or dating. I just need a woman at home to take care of things and talk with ocassionally. It is also important that you look good and be inshape. No overweight women. I like a woman who looks great naturally, doesn't spend alot of time in the bathroom doing makeup. I'm not interested in women who are trendy. Just a nice looking, plain dressing woman.

You will be responsible for planting, tending, harvesting, and storing (canning, drying, freezing) the produce from a 1/4 acre garden. You will also need to harvest fruits from the wild or what ever you can get for free (I don't like to spend money unless it is absolutely needed). You will also need to tend to a variety of farm animals, including milking a cow, cleaning out pens, getting hay. Sometimes you will need to get firewood, so it would be great if you can run a chainsaw. The yard will also be your responsibility as I like the place to look nice. It would be great if you knew how to fix things around the house and machinery. I don't spend a lot of time at home and don't really have time to do much. I have two kids and need a woman who is a good loving parent. However, I'd rather she didn't have any kids ( I guess one might be OK, but I'd rather not have any more. Two is enough for me). You will be responsible for the childrens education. I like them to be schooled at home. One is gifted (with some minor attention issues) and the other has a learning disability. I want you to keep them at or above grade level. You will also need to take them to all there activities. Which will require driving to town most days of the week.

I am a smart, good looking man, not overweight. I like computer games, movies, sci-fi books, skiing, living in the country. Please put the word Country in your reply so I know your not spam. I'm 5'8" 160 lbs brown hair and eyes. I have suffered from depression in the past, but I'm doing fine now. Other than that I'm in great health. You must be disease free (physically and mentally). No drama, no drugs.

OMG. How is 1 person going to do all that? Raise kids, farm and fix machinery + daily sex. Does this job pay?

My sincere condolences in the loss of your babies. What a heartbreaker. I've started putting a sticky note on the oven when I have bread dough rising. Lost too many batches to family members turning on the oven. They know there's a problem when they smell the dish towel burning.

You most likely have Fragrant Blue or something very like it. This was probably a batch of Blue Fame tissue culture that was labeled and grown... and this is one that went to all blue. It should have been culled. For the retailer, this means a loss, so either from ignorance or greed it was left on the counter. I did have one batch of either Blue Flame or Secret Love (more later) where about a third of them went all blue by the second year. Most folks call this a reversion, assuming the plant "reverted" to the original set of genes in the parent plant of Blue Flame - Fragrant Blue. Though the plant is likely to be Fragrant Blue, I've seen too many cases where the solid color plant turns out bigger or smaller or different in some way, so I never use the term reversion. Nonetheless - Fragrant Blue is an old, inexpensive variety while Blue Flame is newer and more costly. Blue Flame has about a quarter inch margin that goes from yellowish to cream through the season. btw - Secret Love is, as far as I can tell, identical to Blue Flame... BF came out of Shady Oaks tissue culture and was released by Naylor Creek... SL came from Europe. I'd get my money back - or at least get a parial refund. Fragrant Blue is a very nice blue hosta and well worth growing. Good powdery blue and surprising sun tolerance for a blue. The name has been controversial for decades. The plant is not fragrant - and to most of us, the flowers are not fragrant. This plant has none of the plantaginea genes that produce the lovely fragranced (usually large and white) flowers in hostas. The originator, Paul Aden, registered it in 1988. I think I've had it about that long and have never been able to detect any fragrance in the flowers. Sometimes... maybe... a hint... if I stick my nose in until there is pollen on my nostril hairs... maybe a hint. Some folks say it is there, but very mild. Most of us say... nawwwwww.... Nobody seems to claim any fragrance for Secret Love or Blue Flame.

DH brings the tree box out of the attic on the day after Thanksgiving. I then send everyone out of the house. I assemble and light the tree. It is a weekend-long thing for me with the tree, I put all of the ornaments and such and stand back and move things, stand back, sleep on it and move things. Neuroses pure and simple about the tree. That's why I send everyone out. Then the house decorating begins. I rummage through all of the boxes to find the things I want to put out. It differs from year to year, some years are red and some years are burgandy. I am crazy with the color thing as well. Little tip, if you hate the way your hands feel after weaving the lights on your tree, I have been using an old pair of leather gloves the past few years and they save my hands from little cuts and such from doing the lights! I won't light the tree or anything for that matter with bare hands again! I just put the gloves away in the tree box and that way I know where they are on the day I need them. I was amazed how discolored and torn up the gloves were after the first year I started using my head. My leather gloves are red, they are now a black color and lots of little cut marks. I don't think the tree gets dusty, but something comes off of it! LOL. Family traditions - SIL hosts an early afternoon supper (try and not have her little ones up to late). We exchange gifts with DH family and eat, eat and eat some more. Come home and assemble Christmas morning sticky buns. Sits in the oven overnight to rise. It's a cinnamon bun kind of thing with frozen dinner rolls as the main ingredient. It's simple and we don't really like big breakfasts in our house. I just serve hot coffee, or hot cocoa and OJ. We open presents and just relax till noon or so. Then I clean up and start getting ready for the dinner. Christmas day I cook dinner for my parents and brother and SIL. Shrimp cocktail and hot crab dip start the dinner which is usually a standing rib roast. Different sides every year. Dessert the last couple of years has been the giant carmel apples from Williams Sonoma (to die for), cookies, homemade candy, WS peppermint bark. We open presents again. I love to shuffle my Christmas CDs through the holiday season, it puts me in good mood after a long day of shopping and spending.

johnliu, I'm sure I'll be finding out, and I haven't made sushi in quite a while, now I need to get busy and make some. dcarch, I have no idea what those characters mean, I'm only assuming it's complimentary. (grin) As for the source of the auction items, the people who run it allow private sellers to take a photograph and write a description of their item to be auctioned, and the auction company keeps a percentage. I've seen items from a child's potty chair to tractors to "a box of awesomeness", LOL. It's easy to find, jnjonlineauction dot com. In addition to the private sellers, the company and/or agents/sellers buy estate items, store liquidations, the items in abandoned/unpaid storage units, etc. This week there are 2,000+ items up for auction and many of them are complete junk, many are firearms and ammunition, and a few are real gems. I think he is throw back to men 100 years ago. He must be stupid to not have figured out times have changed. Unfortunately there will be some women who will jump at the chance to have a man in their life no matter what they have to do.

Other than home-schooling, this is my sister. She has 8 children. She is the wife of dairy farmer. She can and does do all of the things this ad mentions.

Although I think this guy is a crackpot, what he is describing is most rural farm wives. She literally cans hundreds of jars of produce to get them through the winter.
She can drive a tractor, milk the cows, make dinner, clean the house, do 2 loads of laundry every day, change diapers, help with homework, make a meal for a shut-in, pick up a couple kids from soccer practice and still have time to kiss her hubby good night. (yes, he works hard, too) As far as I can tell, they love their life.

Me, I'm an office girl and have no desire to work that hard!!

The guy is delusional. Sadly there are women out there who will think they can "fix" him.

Depression,attention deficit kid,learning disabled kid. Plenty of mental health issues to go around.

The women who respond will have plenty of issues of their own but no one will notice.

He says how smart he is and yet doesn't seem to know how to use or spell the word "you're". Not that that is a prerequesite to being smart, but c'mon. That's not that tough.

I, too, think it must be a joke and meant to rile.

If not, what a shame that he breeds.
