Don't care for IHOP - they put pancake batter in the scrambled eggs.

But, mu favorite is Cracker Barrel. We were there yesterday. Dh loves their pancakes and hot syrup, and I like the egg and bacon platter (simple and cheap).
And then there's the biscuits - hot and light. MMmmmmmm

WE are about 75 miles (at least) from the closest Cracker Barrel, but when we get the chance, we love to have breakfast there.
I also love Perkins restaurants.

We have a few little mom and pop places that we love for breakfast, one of them has home made bread! The smell of grammy's kitchen just smacks ya in the head when you open the door!

I enjoy Cracker Barrel, regardless of what meal time it is, and even get breakfast at non breakfast time there.

My favorite chain restaurant for breakfast is Mimi's. Their in-house bakery makes the best muffins. I have to admit, though, that I like IHOP, too.

Kitt, do you ever go to Casey Jones in Jackson? I like their breakfast buffet.
I used to like Kettle Restaurant for breakfast, but it may have been because a lot of other midnight shift friends went with me and we always had so much fun. Also loved the manager.

I like Waffle House better than any other local restaurant for breakfast.

Cracker Barrel would be my favorite. Bob Evans is okay. The last Waffle House and IHop that I was at were both dirty and service was poor. I'm sure they aren't all like that though. They just opened a new IHop not far from me and boy is it packed all morning! They must be doing something right.

Oh you are all so lucky..no breakfast chains here, or lunch either! The closest we get to a nationwide is we have Applebees.

Ours is a local one...In the old Ogden hotel. It's probably as old as our town is.

The people who own and run it are all family. Probably third generation...at least.

Nice big portions of the best home cooked breakfasts ever.

There is one young man that works there named Keith.

He remembers every one of his customers and what it is they like. Sometimes it will be a year between going there and he'll remember.

I recently discovered WhataBurger Breakfast. Our Denny's closed. When we have company we go to a Breakfast Buffet at our local family Restaurant, Schobels.

I have 3 places I like to eat breakfast out. None of them are chains. All are little hole-in-the-wall places.

I only eat at places like IHOP, Dennys, Carrows and the like when everything else is closed. I usually eat sandwiches at chains since I don't care for the way they do breakfast. I sometimes will get the Swedish panckes at IHOP even though they are aren't done all that well.

Cracker Barrel for me. Love the french toast. I haven't had breakfast there in about two years I imagine. Yummy!

There's a lot of places I like to go to for breakfast. I do like Old Country Buffet if you get their early, like right at opening, or if you get there right when they're changing to the dinner menu on Sunday. Otherwise there's a lot of owner operated small restaurants, many of which specialize in breakfast and I like to patronize them. Good food, good portions and good prices. There's a Denny's close to me that used to be fabulous, and I went there for years but apparently they changed owners and went downhill, no they dropped off a cliff. Perkins is usually consistent and acceptable.

Cracker Barrel is my favorite. IHOP puts pancake batter in their omlets too. They say it makes them fluffler, but I don't like it either. You can get around it though if you ask for the scrambled eggs to be made with Egg Beaters and I ask for cheese to be added.

You gunna share, Wildchild? I don't know if you're in the mountains or on the flat, but I'd love to hear of a good breakfast place! We used to go to Original Pancake House in Cupertino, but didn't like it the last time. Stacks is good, but always a wait.

Marilyn_Sue...I had breakfast at Cracker Barrel this morning with my husband.

He had to go in early for a heart test..can't remember what they called it but it was like an ultrasound.
The tech that took it said it all looked good to him. I hope that is how they read it.

Anyway breakfast was yummy!!

Southern Kitchen on Monterey Road

Just Breakfast- Up the street from above. Used to be better under the original owners but still good for a variety of omelettes and Mexican style egg dishes.

BEST kept secret- OD's Kitchen in Gilroy. It's on Martin Street just between 5th and 6th streets off Monterey Street downtown.

If you are looking for ambiance forget about it. But if you're looking for great food in the tradition of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives then these are the places to go.

As an aside I hate Original Pancake House. It used to be so good but I have a feeling it was sold to some new corporation in the last decade or so and went downhill from there.

OD's in Gilroy! YEAHHHHHHHHHH! Let's have a meet-up there! I LOVE OD's, especially the waiters/waitresses. 5 star all the way.

If you are down in Moss Landing, try the Lighthouse, the huevos rancheros. Oh, lordy that's good!

First Watch serves a great breakfast. It is a chain with many locations in Florida and a few in some other states. Their claim to fame is "Fresh". They are open from 7am to 2:30pm only serving breakfast, brunch and lunch. Try the cranberry nut pancakes!

My husband and I go out for breakfast Sunday morning. We always go for a drive to a small community and look for the "hole in the wall" places. I love the homemade "homefries", in the chain restaurants all you get are those "frozen nuggets", hate those.

I eat breakfast out quite often. My favorite is a locally owned restaurant, La Enchiladita. It's very clean, the owners are super nice and the food is good. I really go more for the social atmosphere than the food. :0)

We only eat out at local cafe's..I want real food, no frozen reheated foods. I stay away from chains of any kind.

But I usually make big breakfast at least one day on the weekends so if we eat breakfast out, it's just hubby and I and it's a treat for me to not have to clean, cook, clean....
