Need Task bar help.....

The taskbar is there, but I've lost the part that has the URLs that I can just click to. I've posted at Computer Help, but thought maybe someone here would know what I'm talking about. All the little icons (IE, MSN, etc.) are there, but I have to google to get in to the garden web, or any of the other sites that I regularly use. The taskbar is also two widths in height, but I guess I can live with that for now.

Try right clicking in the area the taskbar should be and then check whatever is unchecked.

Thanks, Lydia, but that didn't work, either, darn it! The taskbar is there, but no box to contain the addresses of the places I frequent often. Have to sneak in the back door, by Google, I guess.

Owner End Process with the task manager only "Ends Process" during that sesssion. Upon rebooting all your processes are back ... even "End Process" ed ones. Microsoft Word does not belong in my Task Bar. It uses 55% of CPU upon start up. No wonder we were gettin' hot. How do I get it out of my Task Bar? and How did it get in there? Owner 'End Process' es are fairly benign and most gamers turn them of except the task bar itself and IE while playing, its even on the directions of most PC games...for enhancesd performance... etc. The entire word program is running!!...55% of a 3.2GHz CPU (certainly isn't the fastest) at startup is going to word without me turning it on, that is ridiculous! marf

Kudzu and Ravencajun, I just went to the forum to find your reply and answer it, and I don't even see my question let alone anyone's reply. Cannot figure what's going on except NOW I see that the replies on the forum are dated October 15th which was 2 days ago, just like my clock which is 2 hours ago. I opened the time adjust and DID see it was set in the wrong time zone, but when I set it for Pacific it said the time was now 10:10. I now see something else on that same adjustment site that may be wrong, but since I have no idea what it means, I'm afraid to change it. It has to do with Internet time. It's set for Time-n.w.-nist.gov. This seems to be getting very complicated. Update, now I see the current forum posts/replies so maybe things are correcting themselves??? Thanks, BarbB

lotodig- Just so you're more confident, I've re-booted my computer many times over the years using the technique I've described. Several times, for example, my cursor has frozen so I couldn't navigate to do anything, such as re-boot normally. I didn't always know why some problem was happening, but I did know that the power button re-boot would not make anything worse. Usually the only time you can have a problem is if you decide to do a re-boot/re-start of any kind in the middle of some major activity where you are making changes to the computer, such as installing updates or doing a defragmentation. However, in the other 99.9% of cases, all you're doing is cleaning out the RAM of some unexplained little problem and starting fresh.

Why don't you just put an icon on your desktop, or am I misunderstanding that you want them specifically on your task bar?

Hope you find your answer.

That was a great snag you put on your last entry. I'm saving that.

Phyllis, that happens to me occasionally. I have AOL. What I have to do is close AOL and restart it.

Right click on a bare space where your back, forward, home and search button is.....that space and make sure that your address bar is checked.

If those are shortcut links that were made from the Icans on the desktop, then you should be able to replace them by right clicking on the desktop Icons and check create shortcut.

I just list mine in Favorites (or Bookmarks.)
