Time/Date Keeps Changing on Task Bar

Hello everyone,

I have a new Dell Studio 15 laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. I have set the Date/Time many times, and even though I click "Apply" "OK" after a few days I find the time has changed. Can't understand why it keeps changing and wonder if there's something more I can do. Today it advanced 2 hours.

Is it off by precise hour increments? I'm wondering if your problem could be caused by the wrong time zone setting.

see it that helps any

also daylight savings time settings can mess with them if not set properly

c moss battery on mother board probably needs replaced go ahead & google "Replace c moss battery" to get an idea of what is involved, not really a big deal it looks like a watch battery...

Gmail font and boldness changed/ and task bar changed

Well - I restarted the computer - which enabled me to move the cursor over the task bar until I got a double arrow - then drag it down - and eliminate the second, lower task bar. Now I have a single task bar again - but most of my quick launch items are not there. The start menu and open windows are on the left. Time, print icon, volume icon, secunia icon (which now won't work for me - interminably keeps trying to load) and windows update icon are there. There is no left arrow As for fonts, I can't get them restored in my inbox. I tried changing the font style in firefox options - but nothing changed. Except now - just today - all the computer forum is in a new font and is bold (way too large and bold) - all other web pages are unchanged. Is that just a coincidence that the colors and fonts and boldness here have changed? I will try a system restore later - since several things seem out of whack. I did search the firefox forums - and many people reported this inbox font change since March. No real fixes - a few complicated sounding work-arounds. Doesn't sound like anyone there was happy with the suggested workarounds. Thanks. Lynn.

Unfortunately, DA's solution didn't work... zep, I read the information at your link; and I officially have information overload. : ) Can't... do... it... I'm not really sure what to do. Is it because of the network connection? I see it happened to cg, too. I believe the icon didn't disappear until about a week after I set up the network. And I don't know if this is related; but my internet connection keeps getting cut off constantly when I'm using my laptop (this started a few days ago). Grrr. I think I may try something I read (about the cut-off internet connection) - and that is - shut off both computers; and unpower the modem and router, and repower them up in order of modem, then router (I have to read the instructions again : P )... That probably has nothing to do with the volume icon on the desktop (which ran like a charm for more than 5 years until I set up my network : / )

Since you're changing the floor, I'd change the vanity and leave the tiled tub for now. Tiling a tub is a big expense, and it can be hidden behind a shower curtain. For the floor, you could use LVT, something like Armstrong Alterna or Congoleum Duraceramic. It's warmer and softer than ceramic tile and can be laid right over sheet vinyl and grouted for a ceramic tile look. You'd want tile to go under your vanity. Vanities have gotten taller. If yours is short, I'd replace it with a 34" H vanity. You could buy a sink base and three drawer cabinet from one of the RTA places. I'm most familiar with Barker Cabinets. If you want to keep the vanity, you could order new full overlay doors and drawer fronts from Barkers. You could paint the frame and purchase painted doors and drawer fronts. They offer a medium stain too. That way you can coordinate your counter, floor, and vanity color without being tied to the golden brown color scheme of the tile. I'd also cover that odd niche with a large mirror.

Kudzu and Ravencajun,

I just went to the forum to find your reply and answer it, and I don't even see my question let alone anyone's reply. Cannot figure what's going on except NOW I see that the replies on the forum are dated October 15th which was 2 days ago, just like my clock which is 2 hours ago. I opened the time adjust and DID see it was set in the wrong time zone, but when I set it for Pacific it said the time was now 10:10. I now see something else on that same adjustment site that may be wrong, but since I have no idea what it means, I'm afraid to change it. It has to do with Internet time. It's set for Time-n.w.-nist.gov. This seems to be getting very complicated.

Update, now I see the current forum posts/replies so maybe things are correcting themselves???

If you hadn't said that this was a new laptop, I'd have said that your CMOS battery was running low.

Yes, brand new, not even 2 weeks old. For now things seem to have straighten out. Time/date hasn't changed in about an hour and email seems to be going where it's supposed to go so maybe I'm OK. If not I'll be back.
