How to move back the task bar at bottom of computer

I have Vista Lap Top.

I accidently did something when using the computer and now my task bar is on the right side of the computer. HOw do I move it it back to the bottom of the screen?

Click on an empty spot on the task bar and drag it down to where you want it, then right click on it and select lock the taskbar to keep it there.

Thank you Bob, It now moved back where it belongs and is now locked. Its confusing when things get moved and then you have to find all the icons when they move to a different location.ere

Well - I restarted the computer - which enabled me to move the cursor over the task bar until I got a double arrow - then drag it down - and eliminate the second, lower task bar. Now I have a single task bar again - but most of my quick launch items are not there. The start menu and open windows are on the left. Time, print icon, volume icon, secunia icon (which now won't work for me - interminably keeps trying to load) and windows update icon are there. There is no left arrow As for fonts, I can't get them restored in my inbox. I tried changing the font style in firefox options - but nothing changed. Except now - just today - all the computer forum is in a new font and is bold (way too large and bold) - all other web pages are unchanged. Is that just a coincidence that the colors and fonts and boldness here have changed? I will try a system restore later - since several things seem out of whack. I did search the firefox forums - and many people reported this inbox font change since March. No real fixes - a few complicated sounding work-arounds. Doesn't sound like anyone there was happy with the suggested workarounds. Thanks. Lynn.

Sapphires, If your taskbar is locked, what they call the "Sizing Handles" disappear. To make them reappear, move your cursor to the clock, right-click, and remove the check from "Lock the Taskbar." Once that is done, you should see the sizing handles. Move your cursor to the sizing handle you want to move and when your cursor changes into a double-headed arrow, hold down your left-mouse button and drag the sizing handle to where you want it. When finished moving them, go back to the clock, right-click and put a check back in "Lock the Taskbar." HTH Terry

Unfortunately, DA's solution didn't work... zep, I read the information at your link; and I officially have information overload. : ) Can't... do... it... I'm not really sure what to do. Is it because of the network connection? I see it happened to cg, too. I believe the icon didn't disappear until about a week after I set up the network. And I don't know if this is related; but my internet connection keeps getting cut off constantly when I'm using my laptop (this started a few days ago). Grrr. I think I may try something I read (about the cut-off internet connection) - and that is - shut off both computers; and unpower the modem and router, and repower them up in order of modem, then router (I have to read the instructions again : P )... That probably has nothing to do with the volume icon on the desktop (which ran like a charm for more than 5 years until I set up my network : / )

Loralee, that has happened to me several times, I am blaming a herky jerky finger sometimes, and sometimes when I play cards, the task bar has a mind of it's own, so when these things happen, that don't happen often, and I am staring and wondering What happened? I write the solution down in a little book I have, so if it happens again, at least I don't have to come into the forum to find the answer. I know most of the time it is my own fault, and I feel somewhat bereft about that, I am a senior, and should know better by this time.
regardless, I always appreciate the help provided by the great gang here, and know it will always be available.

This forum has taught me a lot over the years. I don't have anyone in the family that does much with computers. My brother and I would learn from one another. I lost him this Spring so Now I am on my own.

I am an ole timer here. I Joined this site back I think when it first started up. For awhile they even started charging a yearly membership but I stuck it out then it went free again.
I have a computer help file that I copy all my questions and answers to so the next time heaven forbid it should happen again I have the answer.

I appreciate everyone here.
