Whoops! Still owe answers to Highjack, OrchidFlowerChild, and Howard! Yes, Highjack, yes yes on the dicentra! OFC, thanks for the explanation re the taxonomy. Howard, your "I am more than a little aghast that you took on the project of repotting blooming plants. But don't worry about me, I'll be fine" cracked me up. Here's the deal: inside from about ten days ago until at least May 1. (Our April 15 frost date is a lie). Yes, they've rebloomed for me every year of the past three. Yes, they rebloomed even after the extremely untimely repotting (right in the middle of their breeding season, poor plants! But that was the moment at which the rotting canvas finally came apart.) They seem very happy with the current mix, but you're right, this is their first winter with it, so I will be religious about watering and the next time I repot, I'll try to find something to hold more water. Howard, that nasty thing you reasonably thought was a wire basket wasn't; it was just stiffened rough canvas. Now, one is in a nice china pot with a saucer which has pea gravel, so that the china pot can drain into that and never sit in standing water. The other is in a standard terra cotta pot, also raised a little above its drain saucer. I'd say the hunks of bark are a pinch smaller than 1/2"? Nah, probably 1/2" on average -- certainly not a 1/4" or 1" size. They really do seem happy. Thanks, everyone, for the kind advice!

I'm a little surprised that some groups of young people haven't adopted this. You know they always love having their own slang, etc. to frustrate outsiders including parents and teachers, plus other kids not in the "in" group. When I read of the Esparanto sci-fi horror movie, I could imagine kids making a cult of this like the Trekkies did with Startrek. And what is the name of that weird movie where kids dress up like the characters and shout out the dialogue...it was a grade B movie but I only heard about it when it was shown at midnight and the news carried pix of kids in costume lining up for it. Anyone know what I'm talking about...)since I obviously don't...LOL. josh

Heehee! I know about the "tomato lists". But, we all have good intentions. It's just hard not to make them "gooder"..... Today, I noticed the currants are starting to really turn, so not much longer for them. Also, the Burpee Super Beefsteak and Rutgers are turning as well. The cherries are a bit behind (Black and Supersweet 100), so I don't know what's gonna happen with them. Whatever, I have decided to just harvest what I can when we get a freeze warning, which, as you say, could be any day now. The fall tomatos were just so gorgeous, and much nicer than the spring ones. But, I only started out with the Rutgers and Jet Star (it bit the dust in August), and a later planting in May of the Supersweet 100. By that time, it was too late for the Supersweet 100 to really set many tomatos - the heat was on. The fall planting I did in July did great and those are the ones that look soooo good right now. I'm happy with the container soil I've mixed, the fertilizer I used - I will increase how often I fertilizer next year. Happy with the watering I did - not overwatering cuz I do have a heavy hand in general. Happy with the containers I use, but do intend to purchase some grow bags in 20 gallon size, but will still keep to 8 (okay, okay, maybe 9 or 10) plants. I've really enjoyed growing tomatos much more than I thought I ever would, with an eye toward growing them for me, anyways, and not the hornworms. Altho the hornworms still have their place in the garden, it's just on the Datura now and not the tomatoes, so we're all happy. I did grow pots of basil around the plants, and it did seem to help with some of the pests. The grasshoppers did not touch the tomatoes, no white flies, no flying anything except for the happy little honeybees, bumble bees and skippers, that loved the Basil blooms. Did have some problems with the beet armyworms and the tomato fruitworms, but they remained manageable by handpicking and damaged only very few fruits. All in all, container growing worked out very well for me and I look forward to next year's growing season. Susan

from: online google sketchup help I've extracted the following notes: "SketchUp allows you to import 2D raster images, including JPEG and BMP, for placement within your model Import a file using the Import menu item in the File menu." "SketchUp allows you to import 3D models, such as DWG and DXF CAD files, for placement within your model." "SketchUp allows you to import 3D Studio (3DS) files. Import a file using the Import menu item in the File menu.: Me here again: Also, I see instructions in the Help file for importing DEM, KMZ/KML, and SHP formats too. I don't see anything else such as PDF or plain text or Microsoft Wod. But could be there, I just don't see it doing a quick look thru. Here is a link that might be useful: Online Google Sketchup Help
