I've seen it served that way with tuna salad. I like my tomatoes in a salad or sauce, don't like them so much just plain.

My fav way to eat tomatos is ... a toasted tomato sandwich!

Toast with mayonnaise (NOT Miracle Whip!! LOL ... DH and DS are Miracle Whip people)
Layer of sliced tomatos with salt and pepper
Layer of Pringles potato chips
Topped with another piece of toast/mayonnaise

I think I'd like the tuna salad or chicken salad better than ham salad. What DOES sound really good is "right out of the garden". I don't know if the soil has anything to do with it or not, but Indiana grows some of the best tomatoes.

I won a purple ribbon at the fair when I was a kid in 4-H by making a stuffed tomato. It was on a pretty plate on a bed of lettuce and looked so good. Can't remember for the life of me what it was stuffed with, but the grand judging wasn't until a few days later, so they FROZE my tomato. You can imagine what it looked like when it thawed out. It was on display with all the other winners, looking so pitiful I picked it up and started walking home, crying all the way (I was about 10).

Oh, Patti, I can imagine a frozen tomato that has thawed! Yes, we do grow lots of tomatoes. Red Gold Tomato canning factory is not far. They of course can for other companies as well. They have an outlet in town that one day a week you can buy cases of tomato products really cheap and in different size containers. One of our sons in law is a cousin to the owners of Red Gold. There are fields of tomatoes about as well as lots of field corn and soy beans. All the crops are looking really good this year. I think I will make up some tomato salad today and share with Amber. I am still picturing that poor frozen tomato!

I like to take a 'right from the garden' beefsteak tomato, slice it thick. Take two thick slices of bologna, spread with mayo, put the tomato in between the two slices....eat this breadless 'sandwich' with a fork. I'm salivating as I type.

Two pieces of toast, a nice slice of tomato and a slice of cheese...I think I've had this almost every day since the tomatoes started to get ripe....I need to eat my fill before winter!

Grilled American cheese with tomato between the slices on white bread. I could eat them every day.

Can't eat plain tomatoes. Has to be in something. But I love ketchup on everything.

I make the stuffed tomatoes using tuna or chicken salad and it's a real treat when those tomatoes are fresh from the garden. We have had (and still have) wonderful tomatoes. I put 30 quarts in the freezer and have been sharing with the neighbors. Bettye/AZ

I like tomatoes in place of hash browns with my breakfast. Even the store bought ones are good with breakfast.

I like tomatoes stuffed with tuna or chicken salad. After reading this, I think I must go make a tomato sandwich for my lunch!

This tomato talk is making me want a trip somewhere (Indy) for tomatoes. I will willingly weed tomato patches for a couple of good, red juicy tomatoes without any of that pulpy stuff in them. And if the corn's in season, I'll hoe those rows, too.

Well, I just had a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich. I love the yellow tomatoes from DH's garden!

Tomatoes, Mother Earth's favorite fruit! I like tomatoes sliced thick, spread with a mixture of pesto and bread crumbs and passed under the broiler just until the topping browns a bit. Fresh sliced tomatoes with basil and balsamic vinegar and a little extra-virgin olive oil. Heaven! Tomatoes stuffed with ham, chicken, tuna or egg salad make a lovely lunch.

I love just a plain old tomato sandwich with hellman's mayo, lots of fresh ground black pepper and a tad of salt sprinkled on it.

BLT with mayo, and some thinly sliced onion. Just 2 or 3 small pieces of onion. Crisp bacon.
I also love tomatoes with cottage cheese. Ummm.
