Sue, no need to s'cuse the italics.

Often when someone responds to a post, there may be 1 or more replies before I post and using italics lets the reader know what you are referring to. I use them quite often.

What I really wanted to add here is about making light of the situation. Many of us, me included, thought it was funny. If you watch the late shows I imagine there will be many jokes made about it, just like the Bobbit case.

I thought it was a disgusting story about a bunch of disgusting people. The women need to pay some serious judicial consequences for their collectively disgusting behavior and the disgusting man needs to learn how to keep his zipper in the "up" position.

If a bunch of men did this to a woman who had played them all, I rather doubt that there would be any giggles from anyone at all.

The "judicial consequences" that you refer to could not only mean prison for these women, but could also mean an examination by a mental health expert, and court ordered placement in a mental institution and possibly courted order medication. Hopefully none of these women re-offend the next time someone hurts their feelings or makes them mad.

I can see 'if' child abuse was involved that it could send someone over the edge....especially with the sentences that some receive. My first thought was that there was likely more to it than him owing someone $3000 and being unfaithful.

I think they're all a bunch of lowlifes and I don't really care about any of them. I just think the whole concept is kind of funny. So funny in fact, that it was a gag on Two and a Half Men....Rose superglued Charlie's "bipper" to his leg when he had a one night stand with her. It was an ongoing topic of conversation for a while. So the idea of superglueing a bipper is not new. And it's still funny.....at least to a majority of people.

i probably should stay out of this but i cant because of the circumstances...if youve never been there ya never know what you would do about one indescresction let alone four, personally that was letting him off easy..thats my opinion and in no way reflects on this board or the people on it. trust me ive been there.

I feel a bit compelled to put my 2 cents worth in. I'm from Wisconsin and have even lived in that area for a brief time 20 years ago - not that I know these people. I also have a working knowledge of the criminal justice system here. The $200 cash bail does seem low but every county is different and so it is probably normal for that county. Also, I normally see signature bond mostly here and not a cash bond

As for the husband, I wouldn't be feeling too sorry for the guy. I heard on the radio that he was charged with child abuse and may be facing theft and harrassment charges.

I think this whole thing is quite strange. It seems there may be more to come with this one.

Getting back to the original comment, when I was younger I took a class in raising children. The teacher told us parents : "The punishment must fit the crime. It must be a logical consequence. For example, if your child refuses to eat dinner, don't offer him an option. Just say "You don't have to eat." The consequence is he'll get hungry and the punishment is no food." Logical consequence.

In any place, town, city, community, church, committee, or just small group....everyone has differing opinions and that is what makes life interesting. I like it that the KT of today doesn't have to live in fear when disagreeing with a comment and speaking out. I don't have to do the sisterly you go girl thing when someone posts a story...That was the old KT...I say I'm going to cheat on my husband because he cheated first and the whole board says...yes you should do it because he deserves it....No that makes you a big cheat too...

The new KT is full of women who have opinions and are not afraid to speak them or who don't worry about being sent to Disney and having no place to play. No one can offend you unless you allow it...It's your own sense of the issue that causes offense whether it's in italics or not.

If you are feeling dumb or stupid or hurt because of something someone here said, it's not the fault of the poster but your own fault for letting that emotion control your thoughts.

Someone said to me recently that I had mellowed....No I haven't mellowed...the whole board has changed and speaking your own mind isn't a mortal sin anymore...Many people here do it now....and My Humble Opinion is.....If you are so easily offended by every" little thing" that is thrown out on a bulletin board, then perhaps you need to find a new way to entertain yourself.

Hmm..I don't think I can agree with that logic concerning eating. I can't/won't eat if I'm not hungry. Making? Forcing? a child to eat if he/she isn't hungry smacks of child abuse in my book. I don't think there should be consequences/punishment unless something "wrong" as been done!

Yes, it is probably normal for that area. As I said before, (and Chemocurl's link backs me up on this) the sole purpose of bail is to insure that the defendant shows up for court hearings. The defendant gets all of the bail money back whether they are found guilty or innocent. That is the law.

Kaukauna, WI is a very poor region where the average household income for women is $22,000/yr and the average home price in the area is $90,000 (per 2000 census). The bails set by the county probably reflect the economic state of the region. Bail is usually set higher for illegal immigrants due to flight risk and supreme courts all over have upheld this.

The fact that there was no signature bond surprised me also, so I did a little checking on the criminal records of the women. I ran the name Wendy Sewell and see that she has quite a few Disorderly Conduct convictions accumulated; '96, '98, '00, and '04. (Apparently this was her year to snap again.) I also found that her husband was the plaintiff in their divorce, something which is statistically unusual. And of course as expected a number of small claims court convictions and did the other women. Maybe this pending felony charge will be the "wake-up" call needed.

These accusations were levied AFTER the incident at the Lakeview Motel*. The wife's revenge. They sound like a retaliatory measure on the wife's part. You know, to "ruin" her husband. As you can see here from postings, if someone is merely accused of child abuse, everyone just assumes they are automatically guilty. The husband will forever now carry this cloud of suspicion for the rest of his life even if the charges are dropped or he is found to be not guilty. The theft accusation stems from the fact that he supposedly has his FIL's ashes in his procession.

*The Lakeview Motel is not the idyllic retreat it's name implies. It is a ramshackle, rundown motel on a state highway out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by wasteland and weeds. Last week they had a stabbin' there. Typical.

Everyone seems to assume he is guilty of the child abuse accusation and the theft accusation, but he has not even been CHARGED with anything related to those accusations yet. They are still investigating the accusations to see if there is any merit to the claim.

I'm all for differing opinions. What a boring place this would be if we all thought the same. What I don't agree with is the "tone" of the post. The incredulousness comes through with the use of the "!?!?!?!?!?!?!" punctuation. It's as if the poster MUST make you see their side of the issue and you MUST agree or you are totally brainless. Just recognize that everyone has a right to their own opinion and don't belittle them for it. That's what I'm saying.

I did not say what the purpose of it was...I mentioned how it was determined, and thought it was low. Now, after reading what all the prior offenses are, I am really really surprised at how low it is, and I stand behind what I said earlier...""Seems the court didn't think it was much of a felony, assigning them to just $200 cash bail. "

Ruthie, that was very refreshing. My impression is that you meant that for the KT as a whole, not just for this one thread. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing, and people don't need to be demonized for it, like I've seen happen from time to time. And it doesn't only ) happen when the poster is "heavy handed". (First time I've practiced my italics)!

Because of the incredible stats in this country regarding the percentage of men (and sadly, women) who cheat, it is assuming way - WAY too much to think that those who responded to this topic with disgust towards these women, or not seeing any humor in their reaction -that this must indicate that they have never been cheated upon or have experienced the resulting devastation to the spouse/family from a man who has an affair(s) with another woman during his marriage.

That is assuming way, way too much.

I believe its the "holier than thou" attitude that makes people see red. Everyone can say how they feel, just not how everyone else should feel. Well as we see here there are several that try to do that. It doesn't change my mind how I felt about the story. Despite the fact that everyone in the story was wrong in what they did, it's still is funny that his bipper was glued to his body. That's how I see it and I really don't give a hoot what dilly has to say. Never did and never will. Just because someone says they are right all the time doesn't mean they are.

Well, years ago there was a OB/GYN doc in practice who assisted another doc doing surgery on the first doc's ex-wife.
The assistant doc sewed his ex's vagina shut.
Both docs got in big time trouble......they were both jerks.
And why the ex wife let her ex assist with surgery is beyond me.....

I was a nurse at one of the local hospitals and knew the docs involved....and knew the ex wife when she and the doc first got married.

I have been on the other end of an unfaithful spouse. (as I'm sure many of you have also)
Never once did revenge (save for the "cold shoulder") enter my mind as an option. Sadly it took me years, but in the end, the best revenge was never allowing him to hurt me again.
These women have really done nothing to improve themselves. Quite the opposite.

And yes, had the reverse happened and it was a women that was tortured, I believe the charges and severity of punishment would be far worse. We'll wait & see.

On another note: the KT reminds me of my extended family. when we all get together and somebody brings up a controversial subject and you just KNOW that a certain Aunt/Uncle/Cousin is going to stir the pot! We all roll out eyes and groan..but what fun would life be without some healthy debate?
Life would be awfully dull if we all thought alike.

For me personally, rather than feeling upset over any particular or individual posts, it's the collective thought pattern or reactions of the general public that can worry me and will be the reason I will post with a differing reaction in some threads, such as this one.

I feel that the general reaction on this thread is probably pretty representative of the reaction of most women in this country. Yes, that worries me because for me personally, it's not taking the thought process far enough. Like, what if these were men doing it to a nasty woman?

Remember the thread where that awful man raped a little girl and the crowd in the town beat the living carp out of him? The reaction of acceptance and cheering to the crowd within this community also upset me because I knew that it was probably a common reaction of the majority of people in this country.

I don't think that it meant that anyone would actually participate, but the reaction is what we were discussing. It's dissenting view that make any public forum interesting and thought provoking. Dissention of perception is not a bad thing - in my personal point of view.

One of my favourite movies is 9 to 5 and this story reminded me of that movie. Not something I would do but these women felt they had the need to get some kind of retribution. Maybe they watched the movie one too many times. LOL
