For anyone who has had shingles

Yesterday I noticed a place on my thigh that keeps stinging on and off like a wasp has gotten it. I can't see anything wrong. At first I was concerned it was a blood clot but can't feel anything. It woke me up off and on all night. I feel stupid going to the doc for this. I just wondered if shingles started this way. I have heard they are very painful. Thanks for your help.

I am just recovering from shingles and trust me it is horrible.
If you suspect anything at all, go to the doctor. If you get the medicine within the first 72 hours it will keep you from getting a severe case.
Mine was on my hip and before the rash came out, I felt like I had pulled a muscle in my back. The next day I got the rash.
The pain has been the worse. I have been taking pain pills round the clock. The pain was in my hip, stomach and back.
So watch for a rash and get to the doctor.

Hmm, I start mine from seed, via wintersowing. They germinate late - late May/early June - mine is just starting to bloom now, but since I have about 6 more good weeks (and another 2 iffy weeks if I pay attention and cover plants when necessary), I'm satisfied.

Would like information from anyone who has had Seizures

I had epilepsy (they now call it seizure disorder). I had my first seizure at 15. I am now 63 and it's pretty well under control. There are many newer medications to control seizures. Your daughter should speak with her doctor. I am assuming her neurologist ordered a series of tests to determine the cause. I know it is scary for both of you. In most states individuals with seizure disorders cannot drive until she is seizure free for a period of time (varies from state to state). She really should not be driving until she can do so safely. It's not easy but it is for her benefit as well as the benefit of everyone else around her. It is normal to come out of a seizure and be very tired. I have never "chewed" my tongue. Good luck

I've been to the one at my Missouri Walmart many times.. he does not work for Walmart, but is a independent optometrist. I also get my glasses there. He is much nicer and does a thorough eye exam unlike some of the other places I have been to (such as Clarkson Eyecare, which was the worst exam and lenses ever.. took me months of adjustments and changes of lenses and the glasses were still not right. I did finally receive a refund and promptly went back to Walmart, even though it is a out-of-network provider for my insurance now. So worth it though!).

We just came back from getting our 1st round of shots. :0) I used 50 miles on the locator, came up with 594 locations, but .......I was on the 2nd page before I actually found it available. My neighborhood Walgreens said they had a 16 page waiting list and would not put anyone else on it. THAT sounded like two years to me! After we get the next round of shots I'll go on "Nextdoor" and publish the "Shingrix locator". People just think because one place is out & they heard it on the news it was scarce....it's not worth looking around.

I just got the shingles vaccine. Hope you don't have it,Kathy, and recover from yours quickly, Wanda!

Kathy, I hope you do not have shingles. I have friends who have had it and they suffered terribly.
Wanda, we have missed you so much here at KT. I'm sorry you've been going through all that. I hope you recover fully.

I am feeling much better.

Yes, there is a vaccine and I can get it after I am fully over it. You have to be over 60.
The vaccine does not prevent you from getting it, it keeps you from getting them a severe case.

Evidently, shingles is more common that I thought.
I had never heard of them before.

I think the vaccine is around 200 dollars, thats what I heard.

Oh, and shingles is contagious, but only airborne.
I think while you have blisters and the rash.
My doctor told me not to go around someone pregnant or children. You won't catch the shingles but you catch chickenpox.

Shingles is a chicken pox that has been lying dormant and brought on by stress or fatique.
I think alot of cancer patients get it because they have a low immune system.

I had a very mild case of shingles in 2003. Mine was on left side of lower abdomen, and it started with a pain along the edge of my ribcage from bottom front and traveling along the line of my ribcage. I thought I had pulled a muscle lifting on my young grandson. Exactly a week after the pain started, I noticed a patch of small blister like bumps in a cluster. I suspected shingles and went to the Dr. that day. She gave me an oral medicine to take to stop the spread, and it worked like a charm. After the "break out" of the blisters, the pain subsided and I wasn't bothered much after that. As I said though, mine was a very mild case, and I think going on to the Dr. helped it to be a mild case.

Don't feel silly going to the Dr., it's your body and you know when something isn't "right". Good luck!!!

I got the shingles vaccine last year. My co-pay was $48 and worth every penny.
