Bucket List

DS & his friend finally got to take their hot-air balloon ride, and he came over yesterday to show us his pics. He said the company that had the 8 passenger balloon they were in, also were launching a smaller 2 passenger balloon, for a couple who wanted a private flight. The husband of the couple had a terminal illness, and was trying to accomplish ad much of his "Bucket List" before the end came. Makes me think, of, what I would put on a Bucket List. What about you?

I have been a lot of places and had a lot of adventures since 1996. There is only one thing left on my bucket list. I would like to go back to the Peruvian Rain Forest one more time. I want to spend a week in the rain forest and week on the river boat touring the Amazon River and it's tributaries.

I've been to Oregon 3 times. I had a cousin in Portland who passed away last December. My recommended Oregon locations for your Bucket List. 1. Crater Lake 2. Columbia River gorge east of Portland where the waterfalls are - south side of the river. 3. Mt. St. Helens --When you arrive at the visitor's center, first, take in the slide show in the main auditorium. 4. Oregon ocean beaches. There are many other interesting places such as mt. Hood, Mt. Ranier and the power dam on the Columbia,, but the ones in the list above I consider top attractions.

Thank you everyone. I've been using up fabric as much as I can this year and one of those red squares has 7 pieces to make it the proper size. It's difficult to tell even looking straight at it! But that fabric is gone as is most of the black on white. There's a bit more of the white on black, but not much. I've done pretty well in only buying the basics and using up what's in the stash...... I'm happy about that. Lois, It doesn't take a lot for us to be content and we live a very simple lifestyle. If I don't want to cook, I don't and DH doesn't care. Things get done when they get done around here. Gives both of us more time to play and do whatever we want. :-) edited to add: Plus, I broke my Kindle which gives me more time at the sewing machine. It's a lose/win thing. :-)

Jim, At what age did your dad attain before he left for more permanent dwelling? I have outlived my parents, brother, but working on grandparents,, had a uncle that played a round of golf on his 100th birthday. My brother was murdered at the age of 43, so no telling how long he would have lived had that not happened. (Maybe that's why I am so adamant about illegal and unvetted immigration.) I love NOLA as well. Love the architecture and music, and all around ambience of the city. It's funny about NOLA, I can walk for miles, and my feet won't ache, but just let me walk around Costco or Sam's, different story, LOL Sabbath, have you tried designing your own cards? I have greeting card programs that I love to use. One is Greeting Card Factory and the other is Platinum Printmaster. Tobey got me a new Smartphone ( that I need to learn to use )and it takes pretty good photos that I can have fun with using Image pro 9. I've made Calendars as gifts using picture of folks kids and pets, kinfolk, special moments, etc. using my old Samsung digi camera. I haven't done calendars for awhile though. The sky is the limit when you have the right tools. BUT WARNING, It can be so addicting. LOL

I forgot the most important thing on my bucket list - to have my own swimming pool. I thought about putting one in my back yard in Los Angeles, but the yard would not be big enough without destroying the pergola, and I like the pergola too much. Therefore, we will be shopping in Palm Springs/Cathedral City for a second house, and it has to have a large pool or else be cheap enough for us to afford to add one. We have an agent there already and plan to look in earnest in December or January - whenever we sell our remaining property in Texas to our nephew. We're giving him extra time, but we've told him that it really needs to happen by December of this year. I think it is great that so many people here travel so much, as it is very helpful to be exposed to other cultures. When I lived in San Francisco in my 20s and early 30s, I went to Vancouver just about every August and spent two months each winter traveling all over Mexico plus Guatemala and Belize. I had very good friends in Mexico City and Vancouver and they always seemed to love having me visit. I haven't seen that much of the U.S. - just the West Coast, SW, Louisiana, Arkansas, and NYC. I don't count airports where I change planes, such as Denver, Minneapolis, Miami, etc.

I feel like I've done so many wonderful things in my life that having a bucket list seems too much to ask! But...

1. Travel: Egypt, Galapagos, Easter Island
2. Learn to play the piano
3. Take a trip anywhere with my sister
4. Take a trip anywhere with my girlfriend
5. Help a beekeeper (don't laugh)

Isn't it interesting that travel seems to dominate many bucket lists! Not judging, just commenting. It seems we all have the traveling bug! Australia/New Zealand, perhaps, for me.

Helen: How fast can you pack! I really want to eat at some of the Drive-ins/Diners spots! But truthfully, much of the food looks not-so-healthy for us! Tastes delicious, I'm sure!

I can't think of many things for a "bucket list"-- I do know that if I had the financial security of doing so (meaning a job could easily be found), I'd sell my townhouse and move closer to my nieces and nephews so that I could be a bigger part of their lives! Seeing them, and laughing with them, just a few times a year isn't so great!)

I always joke with DH that before I die I want to live in a big house and own a big dog.

I'd also LOVE to live in Japan for at least a year and travel to Papua New Guinea and other flora and fauna diverse places.

Been to Europe a number of times. Been to the Far East. I've been to a good number of states including Hawaii. I would like to see Alaska and walk Augusta National and Pebble Beach. DH would like to do Europe one more time, but as much as I love the architecture, I'm really not into flying much anymore. I guess that narrows it down to Augusta.

I don't have a bucket list, but we've started a "pail list". This is a list of places, restaurants, and activities that we'd like to visit in our area (i.e. within a 2 hour drive). In fact we keep it in our car. Then if we have some free time or are tired of our regular restaurants, we just look at our list and try something new. We've been doing it for a little over a year now, and have really enjoyed it.

We add to it whenever we hear about some place that's in the news or a friend recommends.

I guess I'm more like Pioniesandposies, my bucket is more like a pail. Traveling far isn't in the cards for us, but there are some places near and things I would still like to do around here.

Go to the Casino and pig out at their seafood buffet.
Have a makeover and get a hairdo that is attractive and easy to keep up.
Act in a community theater play one more time.
I'm sure there are more but I can't think of them right now.

My wish has been on the bucket list for a long long time.

Travel the Amazon on a boat.

Used to volunteer at the zoo and heard how fantastic that trip is.

I just want enough time to poke around my house and do the things that I like to do instead of working 6 days a week. I would also like to own a dog or two, and have time to volunteer at my local animal shelter.
