Do you have a gardening 'To Do List'?
Comments (14)We are finally fencing in our corner lot. We've had it opened for the 9 yrs. we've lived here, but the neighbors we used to have are gone and I would feel safer with a fence. Now I'll be able to landscape the backyard and not worry about anything "walking away" like my St. Francis statue did. We've decided to wait till the fence is done to see what is left in the budget for our new backyard. Also getting a new AC system, so budget might be tight. Denise, I'm trying to keep it low maintenance, too. I just can't physically do it anymore. I'm going to let the plants in the front of the house stay there and be happy. No new plants there. I'm going to concentrate all my energy on the backyard, which we see and enjoy. We have a nice fountain in the front, which we are going to move into the back and try to get rid of as much grass as we can. Hoping to do something with pavers, but that might have to wait till next year. Carol, I was exhausted just reading your list!lol Good luck with it. Took Slow's advice and decided that I would use my stained glass tools on this heart, it is a 1/4inch thick x 2 inch heart, so I wrapped it with 1/4inch wide copper foil, then soldered and added hooks(wire)! Comments (22)Sunny...many hugs I have completed my "bucket list", so to speak. I have had the privilege to visit all 50 states and high-lights of each state, as well as many parts of Mexico and Canada...which is all I care to do...(I do not do well with long plane rides)...and enjoyed several cruises, etc.. I loved my hot air balloon ride, and parasailing....and hope to do both again some day. I also did two of my DH and my wishes....sold our big home, and built what was to be our "retirement" house, but had to do these by myself. Unfortunately, he died unexpectedly before we got to do them together. One thing he wanted to do was drive the highway to Alaska...but I do not even want to travel by myself, other than short tours. One thing that I "considered" was going for a NASCAR race car ride...but when I saw the molded seats (looked like child's car seats) and have to crawl in through the window because doors are welded shut, I know that desire will have to go....these old joint replacements will not bend that much....oh well.. But people, if you have dreams, please do them while you still have your spouse and both of you have your health....See MoreMore travel -- more general question/ideas (for my bucket list!)
Comments (34)We’ve just returned from a trip to Nashville. We were there two years ago for a medical seminar, but spent the majority of time inside the incredible, gorgeous Gaylord Opryland Resort. This time, we rented a house through AirBnB in the Edgehill neighborhood of Nashville. Although we love Country music and very much enjoyed our tour of the Grand Ole Opry, had great meals out, and saw the beautiful surrounding towns of Franklin, etc., overall it was just so congested everywhere! The roads, the entire downtown area, seemed so crowded, just as it was when we were there last. The majority of the homes in the. Nashville area seem to be without garages, which may be fine for the area but as a result, every street ( in both business and residential areas) was lined on both sides with bumper to bumper parked cars. Thank goodness DH can parallel park or we would have been in serious trouble (LOL)! We did end up driving 3 hours to Knoxville one day, which is a lovely city. If we’d had more time we would have loved to have spent some time in Asheville. In retrospect, I’m glad we went, but any future trips to Nashville will be to the Gaylord, with hired drivers dropping us off to see anything....See More- 9 years ago
