Darn you, Carla (claiming to be 35) ... ... here it is almost 6:00 a.m., and I haven't gone to bed yet. After attending a gathering of former Korea missionaries 120 miles away yesterday, using my bank book to adjust a projector showing pictures of a member who'd visited North Korea recently. Restrictions of where to take pictures ... and they had to be digital ones, for the checkers to view before you left. Leaving early (to pick up supplies for son), I left bank book behind. Had a nap on the way home - to help retread my reputation at least a little. Family reunion at noon today - 110th annual ... will be over 100 there. Better than what some folks say at a wake, "You know, it seems to me that the only time that our family gets together is when someone gets married ... or dies". Have a lovely weekend, everyone. ole joyful P.S. 1. Eat more greens. 2. Drink more water. 3. Dig in the garden - raise your own veggies. Go for walks. Oh, I forgot - I put a new loaf of bread to mix and bake about 5 hours ago, to take to the reunion ... it'll be done by now. Mm-m-m-m! Fresh bread! Jam! Milk! (Tough beans! Pan still too hot to lift out!) o j

1. The Lost Sea in Sweetwater, TN. My parents stopped there w/us on vacation when I was a teen. It was an awewome natural place- underground lake, in caverns. They gave glass-bottom boat rides on so visitors could see the "nearly blind" fish. Turns out the lake was stocked, fish or any other life was not native to the caverns. So they fed the fish, too. Overfed, on the tour the guide in fact told us the leading cause of death for the fish was overeating! Of course the fish weren't born blind, they went blind from living in almost total darkness in their non-native environment. Even as a teen, I was horrified and disappointed that they though they needed to do that to what was amazing enough in its natural state. Off my soap box now for #2 and #3. 2. the maternity floor of a hospital, as a patient. ;o) 3. to sub in the classroom of a particularly incompetent 8th grade teacher

There were multiple presenters. Carol (Kippy) covered diseases, pests, flower form, color, caging against gophers, skunks, feet and several other aspects. Bud Jones and Linda Buzell-Saltzman commented on OGRs, polys, Teas. Dan Bifano presented on some disease resistant moderns and the landscaping use of roses, climbers in particular. Carol has a LOT on her plate at the moment, but I will see if she can send me the link to the web page she set up with photos and links which was given on a hand out I didn't bring home. The main take away was select right the first time, for vigor, disease resistance, suitability. Do your research and definitely check them out on HMF and local societies.
