Saturday's Question, lol, sitting in for Sandy

How long has it been since it rained at your house?

My answer, I don't know, since I was gone, but on Thursday we drove south in Kansas because we saw a radar screen at the Kansas Visitor Center, that showed us a chance of rain all the way to Wichita.

It's been raining here since 5am, however the sun just broke through & it has stopped. Another steamy day in Florida! YUK!

When is the last time you had your hair cut dramatically? -- I had about 3 inches cut off last week, but it wasn't dramatic enough for people to say anything. So I think the only dramatic cut I've ever had was when I was 19 and had very long hair cut off (think Jamie Lee Curtis short). It was probably 20 inches of hair. Unfortunately, if Locks of Love was around at that time, I hadn't heard of them. I wish I had before/after pictures of my DS#1 who got his cut last week. He's 15 and has soft, silky blonde hair that women would pay money to have on their heads. He wore it longish, shaggy, it touched his shoulders and he was protective of it. We could make him cry threatening to cut it off. Last week, he announced he just wanted it cut. Now it's short, what you would call a "clean cut" young man. That was drama! Everyone who knows him was shocked! People were standing around watching at the hair cutters watching this teen boy make such a change, and all that fine blonde hair drop to the floor. I really regret not taking pictures. When is the last time you wore a hood on your head? --Maybe last week, when it was raining, I pulled up the hood of my sweatshirt. Do you like Dr. Suess? -- Yes. I like the longer books better than the beginning reader stuff. When is the last time you saw someone pulled over by the police? -- There is a lot of traffic around here, so the only day I don't see it is a day I don't drive anywhere. Have you ever been in a haunted house that was actually scary? -- If you do mean the commercial ones, I do not like them and haven't been in one since I was a child of about 10. I was scared then, and I knew the people dressed up inside. If you mean the presence of the supernatural, my mom and I are convinced there was "something" in the old farmhouse we lived in when I was a teen, we both had too many strange experiences to ignore it. But we didn't find it scary, oddly enough. Do you like to wear hats & scarves? -- Not really. I'd prefer not to be cold enough to need them. Do you have any bumper stickers on your car? -- No. My kids think it means I'm not proud of them. (Ya know the minivans where you can tell what school and sport every child in the family attends..) But if I started that, it would never end, I'd have 12 bumper stickers on my van and growing. So I just don't even start. I don't like that kind of sticker. I do like the ones that are funny, though, and enjoy reading other people's! I'm not bold enough to get ones that say what I really think.

Not like I used to be. When I was a kid I would always get sick in the car whenever we had to drive more than a couple of hours somewhere. My brothers hated sitting next to me in the car. LOL My Mom would always make me take a bag and my dad would pull over to the side of the road or highway. My brothers learned to read my face and would stare at me in the car and know exactly when it was time to tell Dad to pull over. Self preservation I guess or them not wanting me to be sick on them. LOL Graval became their best friend and mine because I would take one every couple of hours and next thing I know I would wake up in in Toronto and I missed the entire drive. LOL I still carry it in my purse at all times. On one family vacation I remember us leaving the Province of New Brunswick and then I woke up and we were driving through a town called Pug Wash. That is pretty much the only thing I remembered seeing while driving on that vacation so it always stuck in my mind. Pugwash, Nova Scotia. LOL Rides that spin are a big no for me - Tilt a Whirl are out for me - after taking 2 consecutive rides on one once I thought that lovely deep shade of green I turned might be permanent. I was sick for days after that. Some Nintendo games like the car race games make me dizzy and feeling sick. I can't even watch the kids play those games. I have to sit facing the front on subway rides and bus rides. I can't sit in the seats the face the aisles or backwards. Usually if a boat is moving I am okay but once it stops all bets are off. I've been on a few cruises and only got motion sick once. I wear Sea Bands on my wrists and they help a lot. I used the patches once and will never use them again because the medicine in those dilated my eyes so much I couldn't read or be out in the sun for 2 weeks. There is a road near my house that has about 10 stop signs within a short distance. Being a passenger in a car going down that road can wreck my day. I've grown out of being sick in cars mainly because I sit up front now and I have also learned where to focus my eyes. On long road trips just don't ask me to read the map and I'll be okay. LOL Anne

Thanks to all who drink tangy, refreshing OJ ... to start the day! Usually OJ, the small, frozen stuff in the tube - I have water here, no need to haul most of half a gallon of the stuff from their plant to my place! Or local cider. Sometimes grape juice. Sometimes water, rather seldom. Sometimes coffee, with cream and sugar ... rather seldom. Cooked cereal, especially in winter. o j -only slightly juiced (cider) today

Do you wash your hair or your body first when taking a shower? Face, hair then the bod. What was the last thing you cooked in the oven? Can't remember, too hot to use the oven when you don't have A/C and it's 93Â° with a heat index of 103Â° DD cooked baked biscuits for her son's birthday party last Sat. morning. They're living with us at the present time and she gets brave and uses the oven sometimes. What craft do you think your good at? Crocheting What time of day are you most likely sitting on your couch? Never sit on the couch, usually has clothes on it waiting to be folded. Sit in recliner or office chair in front of the computer. What is the closest grocery store to your house? We had a 5 inch rain last night. (The drops were 5 inches apart.) It's been 2 or 3 weeks, so long that I can't really remember. The crops around here are suffering.

Two days ago we got 1/4". We're expecting a lot more tomorrow and Monday, though. We're also having a cool spell and had the house opened up all day yesterday, what a HUGE treat for us. Rain and cool in August, this is so nice! Not unheard of, but rare enough to be thrilling! lol

Welcome home, Moni! Were you trying to get into the rain or were you avoiding it? I couldn't tell.....

We got 2-3 inches during Dolly and it was wonderful. We were hoping that Edwaurd would bring us some rain, but he didn't. We are way below our yearly average. It's been way too dry for us!

Flamey, we tried to avoid the rain. We managed to get out of it just before getting in to Oklahoma, and then stayed dry all the way home.

Jerry said it rained here a bit last week, about Wednesday around noon, just enough to make the streets wet.

In CA we don't have any rain from the beginning of May till Nov. I was up in the garden Thursday and I said to Elvira, my dog, it feels like rain. Almost right after, we had a cloud burst. Very unusual.

About a 1/4 inch Wed. morning for the first time in a couple of weeks.

Lydia, you get must be getting lots more rain than we are. I can watch on radar and it will be coming from the west and just split and go north or south of us and we may get just a teeny bit, not enough to soak in.

DD was in St. Louis area last week and said it rained every day.:(

About two hours ago we had a thundershower.

I'd just straightened the pole holding the strings holding the pea vines, that had fallen over while I was away, braced it, stretched the strings holding them, added another, and was starting to pick peas.

Got beans that need picking to take to the churches ... but not enthused about picking with boots on.

I know ... I'm not supposed to kill the kid in me ... and I may be edging up toward second childhood ...

... but when it comes to picking bush beans in mud ...

... I ain't there, yet!
