Aww, Sherry they sure can communicate with you can't they! We sure love our furry babies. Amber's Harley is very vocal. One time when it wasn't time for his treat, we swear he said in his doggy voice, "OH Darn!"

Oh, I know what you mean. My Dudley, whom I lost last spring, had the most questioning expressions. When I would act silly, he would look at me with a "what are you doing, lady?" look. Always just cracked me up. The other cats just look away!

it's a conspiracy, all pets know just which "looks" to give their owners to get the sympathy vote (and possibly a treat of some sort) My grand dog knows where the bag of toys I've picked up for her is in the closet (she saw me "hide" it in there) and every day she goes to the closet and whines. She fooled me twice because I thought 2 of her stuffed animals had been thrown away they were so dirty and chewed up so I gave her a new toy. When my daughter came home she told me the old toys were hidden in the doggy bed and now she had some extras to add to the collection.
I'll miss her morning greetings when I go home in 10 days!

I know what you mean. My last dog would do guilt like no other dog I ever had, and she almost never did anything wrong. On the rare occasion she went into the garbage, all I would have to do is take a deep breath and say uuuuhh and she would put her tail between her legs, droop her head and go right to her bed. I would secretly gigle but feel so guilty. Georgy, on the other hand, is in trouble all the time and shows no remorse whatsoever! They're all just so different.

They really are amazing, aren't they? Our Moose is the most sensitive and easily offended cat we have ever had. If he gets yelled at or if Dude rebuffs him the sadness permeates every piece of his being. The head hangs, the tail drags.....he looks like he lost his last friend. It does break my heart. My office helper, Bobby is so happy go lucky that he usually has me laughing. And the Dude is extremely vocal.....when he isn't happy EVERYONE knows it.

I have two pets. Cat Dewey who really belongs to my daughter, she's a female Tortoise Shell cat. Vocal only between mignight and 5 am, when she howls for food. If I ignore her, she stops. Dog Molly, a Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier. Everyone who knows her loves her, her Vet, the Dog Groomer , just everyone. the funniest thing is she thinks her job is to chase Dewey. Sh'e never hurt the cat, but loves chasing her haround the house. Dewey went exploring in a closet, I closed the door and she was trapped and started scratching to get out. I opened the door and Dewey stayed in the closet, afraid because Molly was crouching nearby,ready to chase Dewey when she came out. She finally mnade a leap for freedom, with Molly on her heels.

Our dog Bailey is like this. She would live off of treats if we would let her! We have limited the amount she gets, but when we tell her 'no', oh my! You would think that we had just beat her within an inch of her life!! She sadly retreats to her bedroom(a dog kennel made out of nylon and we have a dog bed in it)! If we don't say 'NO' harshly enough though, she is back within a few minutes trying again, like maybe we weren't really sure of our decision the first time!!! LOL!

Now the cats(we have 2)are smart whippersnappers!!! They live on our screened in porch from sun up til the time we go to bed(I don't allow the door open when we go to bed, mainly because I am afraid if a bat were to get in the porch, it could get in the house)! All we have to do is go out and say 'Kitties in' and they both come into the house! Some nights we need to remind them, though as some nights I think they think we are kidding!!

aaaahhhh... My furbabies do that too. My one chihuahua Bella, thinks she is a kid. If she wants some attention, she will come up to me, if I don't pet her or let her in my lap....she sits with her back to me and occasionally look at me then turn her head. Animals are smart no doubt.

When I met my husband back in the 70's, he was a single guy with a dog he absolutely loved. She got sick with cancer when she was 7, and it broke both our hearts when she died. Had other pets since, and we currently have our dog Molly. DH has said many times he loves Molly just like his former dog. Now she's ill, possible cancer. We've had her to the vet to investigate a wart/possible tumor on her head. Blood tests show either a viral infection or cancer (low white blood cells). Vet prescribed some antibiotics for Molly, she's perking up some. But it's still "possible cancer". I hope it's just an infection.She's only eight and she's a purebred Wheaten Terrier.

Aw Jannie, I'm so sorry. I've had to deal with 2 cats that had cancer over the past 8 years. Absolute hell.

I've got to tell you guys something else that Bud does.
You know those "fainting goats?" Bud does the same thing, against me.

If I'm laying down, in a chair, in bed, when he wants attention, he gets up beside me, puts his head down and just falls over. Oooomph! Lands on my side, legs or whatever. He particularly likes doing this in the wee hours of the morning and wakes me up! All that for a butt-rub. Don't rub his head! Oh nooo, he spins around so you can rub his butt-end. Silly, but totally loveable boy.
