Oh, I just posted my opinion and then I went to bed, so I don't know about any other follow up posts. These things happen. It's ok, Jamie.

You did nothing wrong. You posted a video that was made to entertain. Fake drunks have always been a part of comedy.

The reaction reminded me of my own DS and his friends. They used to post all kinds of mini films and stories on the net in the early days.

They did things like fake a "grand prix" motorcycle race in the middle of downtown using several cameras speeding up the film etc. editing a slow ride 25 MPH ride around the park to look like a road race. They had lap markers and gothy looking trophy girls... the whole enchilada. LOL People still talk about that race as if it really happened. LOL Some even claim to have been there as spectators. It became legendary.

Another time DS took a "test drive" on a brand new Indian motorcycle (with owner's permission). The only thing the owner asked was no wheelies. So DS had friends take pics in broad daylight of him doing tricks like standing up on the seat, packing the bike with six people, fake burnouts etc. All staged and harmless. Then he wrote a completely ridiculous totally unbelievable piece of fiction for his online motorcycle magazine on how the bike belonged to Jay Leno and how under the cover of darkness they stole it from a transport van near the Nevada desert or some such nonsense using their trusty locker-busters LOL and took it for a midnight joy ride. Never mind the pictures were taken in bright daylight on a suburban street.

DS got hate mail. Lots of hate mail.Threatening hate mail. For stealing Leno's bike. It's amazing what people believe.

One day DH was telling someone the story including mentioning that it was a put on and some idiot at work still said he should be ashamed of DS for stealing the bike. Go figure. People hear and see what they want to believe.

No need for apologies (imho). I honestly didn't even look at the video, but at the time, you found it funny. Some people didn't; no biggie! :)

You should be able to laugh at that sort of thing...it's ok....really....

I watched it to the end....I was horrified....but not judging you.........my father was an alcoholic, my mother was his drinking partner.

I can disassociate myself and not "think" about it....

Not offended, I found it boring and moved on.

Oh Jamie, don't feel bad a bit. I can see why people would laugh intially--his physical antics were funny. But the overshadowing reason behind the antics is not funny. It's ok. Hug hug hug to you. Don't fuss about it.

Don't feel bad,Jamie! Some people will get offended or out of sorts over anything. My Dad was a DRUNK!! I've never bought into the medical term "alcoholic"! He was what he was..and that was a drunk. BUT..I didn't find the video offensive at all.

Geez, Louise, Jamie. No need.
I'm glad you found something to give
you a little bit of laughter!!!!!

You gave plenty of info in the subject line and in the text of your post to enable people to know what it was. If people are sensitized to things like that (understandable) I'm surprised that they'd even open it. It's not like there was any mystery about what they were opening.

I don't see the need for an apology.

Jamie, please don't worry about it. You're a sweetie.

Suzieque is spot on.

""""Nicole>>>>

Jamie, I watched a bit of the video and found it boring and obviously staged. Don't feel bad for posting it.
People could scroll by it, since you posted what it was about.

I've posted videos that I think are extremely cute and touching (usually with animals LOL). Some people don't care for animals, so they wouldn't look at it, I'm sure.

YOU HAVE NOTHING TO APOLOGIZE FOR!!!!!!!
I have NOT watched the clip here and I know exactly which one it is. IT is STAGED. I had watched it part way through a while back and found it well choreographed, graceful and boring boring boring. Imitators of drunks have been part of comedy acting since before my time. Foster Brooks one of the best. Red Skelton did great routines as a drunk. There have been many more Ron White, John Park, Bob Nelson + and it is all in fun (actually money making) for them. My particular taste is not to that type of comedy but I don't care for slap stick either and most people find that hilarious. I am offended that you have received such nasty criticism for posting the silly hoax movie.
I think the title of your post "RE: Now this is drunk! was very informative. It definitely alerted the viewer the post was about a DRUNK and/or the drunken actions of a drunk. DUH!!! Anyone whining and complaining about being offended after opening it with that title are the ones who should be apologizing. Maybe as a reminder the WARNING This post may be offensive should headline all post again. That was an interesting week.
LIL

Yeah, you have nothing to feel bad about. The post generated conversation and there's nothing wrong with people holding different opinions and expressing them respectfully.

I just posted on the other thread. I will repeat here that I didn't see anything in the replies to that post where anyone said they were offended.

I think you are kind to apologize, and that is appreciated. The word "hilarious" caught my attention. I love a good laugh, but I didn't see the humor in it.

Red Skelton and others were hilarious at times, but we knew they were comedians.

Actually, I am tired of hearing that people are offended. That has become just another buzz word in our vocabularies today.

Apology accepted!!

Sue

I agree with Sue Va. I didn't see the humor in it. I didn't see anyone criticize you Jamie for having posted it.... certainly not the "nasty" criticism that offended liljunkr. All I saw was people expressing their opinions as to the humor, or lack of it. Whatever. From that angle, "much ado about nothin'"

I don't think you needed to apologize, Jamie, but it shows you to be a considerate person for having done so.

While reading the posts, I noticed that my Hugs to Nicole had changed to other signs. Weird. It's supposed to be Nicole's name in between the hug signs. They were there earlier.

(((Jamie))) I didn't see the original post...but you can always use a hug....

(((Jasdip)))....your a cutie pie! thanks....lol

Heeeeeeeeeeey....just took a loaf of bread out of the machine....yum!

What makes some people laugh disturbs someone else. Please don't take these posts personally.

You just post anything you find interesting or funny. All the rest of us do. :)

No need whatsoever to apologize, Jamie. You wanted to share something you thought was funny. Not everyone else found it humorous (I lasted less than two minutes), but that's not a problem. We know your intentions were the best.
