My eye is fixed ... YIPPEE! ... (O J, with apologies to Pattico)

Had supper 11:30, finished coffee a few min. after midnight - nothing to eat or drink after midnight ... a bit thirsty about 3, told body managing system to take a hike.

Departure scheduled for 7:30 a.m., alarm set for 6:45 (no concern re breakfast) ... alarm didn't go off (or I didn't hear it).

Awoke with a start ... 7:15 by bedside clock. Washed hair (didn't want to worry about cruddy hair for a week or so), shaved, washed, dressed, filled pockets with needed stuff, put stuff assembled last night into bags, checked "To do" and "Take" lists ... checking driveway for driver.

Out the door (with cat food) at 7:35 - no driver. Back in, called - no answer (what I wanted to hear). My map was too small ... or otherwise faulty.

Departed at 7:40, usual 30 min. trip to son's, I'd allowed for 40 min. due to rush hour, arrived in 3o min., waited ... fewer min to hosp. than planned, arrived 8:30, on time, driver went home.

They checked information carefully, I checked wristband before they put it on, I pointed to eye - they attached sticker to forehead.

Informant on earlier thread spoke of stinging drops - mine didn't. Started saline IV with relaxants included.

Before I got on gurney, they asked if wnted to pee, I declined. Told me there should be next to no discomfort, I told them that if there were, I'd bop the doc, they didn't threaten to tie hands down - but they did tape head down. Somewhere around 10:40, for 10:30 plan.

The main almost discomfort was the intensity of the light on the microscope. Short procedure - some shooting water - next to no discomfort.

Back in prep. room, rested on gurney for a while, sat me in chair, water for tylenol (some discomfort), juice and cracker.

Second driver took me to Bruce's about noon - I stopped at every water fountain on way out.

Napped at Bruce's, a bit of discomfort initially.

Driver picked me up for 2:45 check-up ... checker asked about discomfort, very little, about 45 secs.on microscope, announced, "Perfect" ... which suited me fine.

I can drive as of today - with care, due to faulty depth perception for a time. Dont get eyes belowwaist ... not lift over 20 lbs. (when I reported another patient having said "no over 2 lbs.", she said, "Well, maybe not over 10 lbs.". Won't let me lie down by row of beans to choose which offspring to pick ... how do I get back up without strain??

Late in the evening, almost no discomfort, after midnight felt normal, can read large print on screen, identify mouth, nose, eyes, hair of fairly small picture on screen.

With regard to the earlier discussion of us getting concerned with people messing with our eyes, and someone worrying about the results should they mess with the furniture behind the eyes ... I guess I'll have to depend on my own judgement(?), in addition to that of those who know me, to decide on that ...

... leaving the question open, for the present.

Again, thanks for your concern, good thoughts and prayers.

ole joyful ... more so than usual, just now.
