Google *sleep apnea*. That sounds like what your might be experiencing.

For me it comes after I quit taking my allergy meds. I have drainage down my throat, and it makes me cough. Eventually it either goes away, or turns in to bronchitis.

I have it right now.

For some reason it is worse in the evenings.

When I go see the allergy dr. next week, I will ask, what I can do to keep from getting this, besides taking the meds all year long.

I was going to say allergy or asthma. Does the "dry cough" eventually become a "wet" cough after about 1/2 hour of coughing? My asthma is brought on by damp weather and cool temps - and I hear you've had a bit of that this summer (while we here in NL have been enjoying a hot, dry summer ;)

If it persists, I'd see a dr. and get an inhaler.

Might be Apnea, but also reflux. Possible that it is drainage but if it's enough to keep you awake, it's probably worth checking with a Dr - and ENT might be best.

Check with your DR. I have something similar where at certain times of the year, my sinus drains down the back of my throat. He recommended Clariton, not D. I also spray my throat, just a bit with Cloraseptic spray. But you do have to watch the amount ( a tad) and not too often per day. It seems to stop that tickling. Yes do get it checked out. Are you in a area with farms? Here lots of people are allergic to Canola and we do have alot. But do get it checked out.

I know someone that went to the doctor and we laughed when he said reflux. She doesn't have heartburn. But it is reflux.

I have that at times, day or night. The "spot" in my throat feels like a pin is sticking it, and it happens suddenly, and makes my eyes tear, and I cough.

I went to a ENT doc. He put a light down my throat and said it wasn't cancer. Huh? I hadn't even considered that it might be, but I guess that is what some might think of first.

Anyway, he told me to get Saline spray and use it as needed. That helped a lot, and after a while I stopped using it. I need to get back on it though, because I'm having it again occasionally.

I suggest you see a ENT doctor; yours may not be the same as mine.

I had that for years and finally went to ENT and he said use Clariton or Zyrtec and prescribed Nasonex. It went away completely unless I stop using it. What a relief!

My sis had the same problem, and found out it was her HBP medicine. Changed it, and no longer a problem.

I forgot about the saline spray--Dr. did suggest that to DH.

I had a regular check up with my doctor yesterday, so I asked him about it. He said it could be reflux, but it could be a mite problem, as I sleep on my stomach, which puts my face on the pillow. He suggested I buy new pillows to see if that helps. He said that no matter what, pillows get mites in them after a while (eww). It's worth a try.
