Dave, you're saying they didn't keep you over night in the hospital for observation? IDK, I would like to be given the option of whether to go to the ER or not. When Charlie fell they did not call me, they called his work who then gave me minimum information, then I had to figure out what hospital he was in, it was in another state. By the time I looked up the town, then called 15 numbers, it was late. I was able to speak to Charlie in the ER then the doctor who said he seemed fine, they'd give him morphine, then probably release him the next day. Charlie told me to stay home, deal with getting his tractor trailer home the next morning, then to come up. Took me 2 or 3 hours of phone calls starting at 7 am but I did it. I would have loved to go the night before but it would have been almost a 2 hour ride in the dark; I don't drive more then 45 minutes away tops because of my back. Did Deb swat you with a rose cane when she saw you? LOL You would have deserved it you know lol I can't believe you're back working. It had been so long since I had lost a rose..... I was beginning to think I couldn't lose one :) Sometimes I need a wakeup call to keep me from getting too full of myself, Same for us. With our sandy "soil" at the old house, the roses would own root, they'd be horrible for year 2 then year 3 they started getting nice, year 4 awesome. It was them own rooting that we were able to take as many roses as we did when we moved. The only way we lost some was due to them sitting in pots since fall 2006, not sure of the dead count yet, but it means I finally get to buy more roses lol I have to rebuy red Eden, that was planted in dads garden, my "mother" didn't let me come back to take my roses/plants before she sold the house. We were going to buy it, then she got another offer without telling us. It is easy to be 'brave' and uncomplaining when I can feel steady improvement. Pain woke me this morning and I began to feel sorry for myself. Realized that I would have given anything 2 weeks ago to feel as little pain as I had today. It would have been wonderful even a week ago :) I don't think you ever get used to the pain. Chances are you are going to have some problems from this. You're right though, you remember how you were when 1st injured then are thankful that the pain is going away, but it's still pain and when it wakes you up is the pits. I fought pain meds for years but gave in. They changed them back in March but once again, I'm used to them and they are only taking the edge off for an hour; as the day goes they don't even touch that. Best advice I can give you is to speak up about the pain, then if needed get a script for something mild for days like you had. Suffering through the pain isn't going to help you any and if you are like the rest of us, you'll get grouchy. You also have to watch because you probably injured muscle which is a large part of my problem. I have really bad muscle spasms, which are nothing like when you feel your muscle jumping around, it's a deep, deep pain that will wake you up. What I usually suggest is to google the body part, say lower leg muscles or nerve posters, you will then click on images and find this. Pick a decent one, then print it out and trace your pain with marker or pen/pencil then also write what the pain feels like. If the pain shoots from the left side of your knee to the right, mark that. Bring it with you the next time you see the doctor, they will be very impressed & it will give them a better idea of what you are going through. I've gone so far as to write down the various pain I have during the day. If you are good with a photo program, you can open the poster image in that, then draw the pain lines using the pencil tool. You can get creative with various colors for different types of pain. Duke is happy. He can keep up with me walking now. He lets me use the ramp I built for him to get in the house too. Shirley, still thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers. i know that's your daughter, brittney and dawson -- who are the others (inquiring nosey minds want to know) and as for your mom, you never know what the next roommate may be, perhaps you can hold off on the move until you see what comes in LOL, however, I think I'd want to be with my own and her secrets kept!!!! annie your dogs are beautiful, as are you. my aunt and uncle, for as long as i can remember, were the first home for service dogs until they were ready to go into training. they had several different dogs from what i recall. sorry about your lizzie...i know how hard it is to lose a beloved pet. my next dog is going to be a shepherd, but it's been decided that we will only have one dog at a time now, so I have to wait my turn. (we'll see) i made an anniversary cake for a group i belong to, it was our 7 year anniversary so i made this massive cake. i filled it with alternating layers of buttercream and lemon curd, and dang, if it was not tasty. I was able to take a slice home for the family to taste and seriously wish there had been more leftover, would have made a nice breakfast!!!! a real nice combination, even though it started out that i was going to use raspberry as well...i just couldn't get enough to cook them down to make a nice sauce/filling. it's still so cold and seems to be staying that way until at least next week, when it's supposed to go to the high 40's, with rain. by then, i'll think it's summer. this cold is bone chilling and of course, they are calling for more snow. we haven't got much of it, but.....this year it is bothering me like mad! i shouldn't complain, there are parts of the country that are in the negatives, so i'll just keep my mouth shut on this subject any further! so whose left to post their pic? come out. come out whereever you are! speaking of which, jeanne, how are those triplets of late? is mary ellen still a part of this group? i feel like i haven't seen her in a long time...maybe since she became a grandmom, or right before that? hae a nice thursday! maryanne

NO, ENC's are just fine in Rubbermaid bins. They are not regular garden variety nightcrawlers, the name is deceiving. Bill is right that regular nightcrawlers are burrowing, deep living, but that is not the case for ENC's. They are the second most popular worm for bins. And some prefer them hands down over the redworms, especially those that want to raise them for bait. Your set-up seems fine. I am not an expert about ENC's, as I use redworms, and I know the ENC's have some different requirements then the reds. Hopefully one of the people more familiar with ENC's will chime in. What type of bedding are you using? I know you have mentioned that the are you are keeping them in has AC and the temp was set at 72. Do you know if the room is maintaining that temp? My first guess is that they are a bit on the cold side. My reds slow way down when the temps drop. Maybe try bumping up the temps a bit and see if you see a difference. Also, do you have any worm experience to compair their sluggishness too? I mean are they visably slower then when you first received them? I guess is what I am getting at is they aren't exactly the road runner when it comes to movement. You may have seen more activity when you first received them due to them being aggitated from shipping. I would guess you are just seeing more normal activity. Also, if you just put lettuce or food stocks in there, that are not already decomposed, it will be awhile until they start consuming the food. The worms show little to no intrest in the food stock until it starts to decompose. Alot of people keep food stock in a bucket or such and let it...well...rot some first, before adding to the bin. Other's collect the food stock in bags and freeze it before adding it, this is beneficial for two reasons - one it kills off any possible fruit fly eggs on the food stock, which will cut down on that possible "issue" and secondly freezing the material first helps to bvreakdown the cell walls in the veggies which helps them to decompose faster and therefore ready for the worms to eat. If you decide to freeze first, just make sure the material freezes for at least a few days and that it is fully defrosted prior to adding to the bin, you don't want to cool things off too much. Some people toss the frozen stuff in the microwave, which speeds up the decomposition even more. Me, I just leave the frozen bag out for several days, it defrosts and starts to get good and yucky, just the way they like it. Hope this helps. I wouldn't panic too much, maybe bump up the temp a little, otherwise I think they might just be settling in. Kat

Can't remember what it was but I recently read something about it that made me think, "ohhh, I wouldn't like that!" so I dismissed the idea of changing to Chrome. I would guess half, if not more, people here use FF so the browser it's self can't be the problem. I've wondered if it's a satellite thing. For 2 years I couldn't put a photo order thru on WM.co. WM said it was HughesNet and guess who Hughesnet said it was. Right, WM. I recently upgraded to their Gen4 satellite. The first thing I did was check to see if I could put a photo order thru.
