A KT link might be infected

I see that 2 people have a new virus, the JS/Dir. I, for one, am not going to click on ANY link posted here. It may be that one of them is infected....at least 'til we find out what's up.

I got the results back and everything was negative. But, the person who did the testing assumed that I sent in the avocado tree because of the "red leaves" I never said anything to them about the red on the leaves. The scientist or whoever was analyzing my samples basically over looked everything I wrote in my comment section and addressed something that I never even thought of or asked them about. They sent me back a letter stating that all my samples were "negative of any disease pathogens" but gave no further explanation of what the lesions were or what the black spots/lesion were on my mandarin. The only thing they said was "red growth on avocado is not indicative of a disease. It is indicative of new growth". And I never said anything about the red leaves. I knew they were new growth. Ive been living with this tree for 30 year! Lol But it made me think that if they assumed I thought the red leaves was the disease that they ignored all my other questions so now I dont even know if they actually looked for disease or not. I thought scientists were not supposed to assume things? I found it odd that they would write a paragraph in regards to something that I never even brought up or had an issue with but then IGNORED all my other questions about actual visual blemishes on my leaves and small fruit. EDIT: I just got off the phone with the person who tested and he assured me there are no disease pathogens on any of the samples that I sent him. He was actually very friendly and went into detail about how he examined everything. Basically I applied copper and oil on my tree as the new growth was emerging and things went BAD. The damage highly resembles shot hole/leaf scorch. But if this guy is wrong and in 5 years from now things keep getting worse. Ill be a little upset..lol

I haven't run the scans on my colleagues computer yet but decided to try my own first. So the malwarebytes scan came up clean and the SUPERantispyware scan came up with some cookies and 2 trojans? Sheesh! Posting the link as you did is no different than linking the page! LOL If you get it from one, you'll get it from the other. So if you won't click on a link, isn't it hypocritical to post links?

I'd gamble that the people having trouble all have several things in common resulting in dangerous surfing.

Has absolutely nothing to do with Kitchen Table links. Any link can be embedded with malware. Here, at Google or in an email.

This appears to be a problem with AVG users. I have clicked away and spent my time here as usual the last few days. I don't run AVG so haven't seen the problem. I use Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes.

Just the other day I picked up some malware while looking for info on Eczema. I removed. Chit happens.

The worst virus on this site is the viral hysteria about links. The links via the optional link feature are no more no less dangerous than any other link. If your computer is infected you may pass it on but unlikely via Kitchen Table.

You're right. My logic was not well thought out. It was a really dumb post. Sorry.
A bit of tact might have been used it pointing it out though.
The false positive warning is obvious now.

I see you posted this Tues. I didn't notice the date before I responded. I was terse because I felt the subject had already been talked to death not just here but on other forums.

I couldn't get on for a day. My AVG notice popped up, that the virus mentioned, had been cleared up by them. It would not allow any connection to the Gardenweb site. The potenial for picking up a virus, is anywhere on the net.
