If you click on the little box below your log in information, that states "save this on my computer" or something to that effect, your login information should be stored in your browser. If you use Norton Systemworks Virus protection and do a routine browser cleanup (I do at least once weekly), be sure to uncheck the URL for gardenweb.com or it will send the information to the recycle bin and you will have to login next time you wish to post. Have also found that occasionally, when online, and we have one of our frequent power interruptions, the browser information is lost. The problem could originate at gardenweb.com, but most likely is in your computer. Rb

You have to make your choice regarding cookies before running the cleanup tool. Open CC>Click on Tools>Cookies and move those you wish to save to the right pane. Then run the cleanup tool. Though it is not as important as it use to be, when is the last time you checked the H/D for errors? Defragged? If it has been a considerable time this might help. Do these tasks after CCleaner DA

The way a browser remembers to keep you logged in to a site is with a cookie. If you're blocking all the gardenweb cookies you will have to log in every time. Yes, I understand and knew that (save those) but I am talking about all the new loads of strange cookies that started popping up when I come here since this site started showing all those ads to the right. I have been using Cookie Wall for quite some time now and new cookies pop up when I come to this site that never did before. You can right click on any image that appears and block it. The option is on the bottom of the appearing drop down menu. DA Thanks DA, I found my problem was, that popup was allowed when I snooped around here and found Popup Blocker Settings under Tools. It was listed and I removed it and that stopped it. I am just "learning the ropes" here with Windows 7. ⺠Still can't log in here with FireFox so have to use IE if I want to post and reply. I just installed FF on here so have to tinker with it to see what's wrong. May remove it and reinstall when I am a little more settled down. I may have screwed up with adblocker and easy filter on that.

One weird problem I've had (that I attribute to the awfulness of the GW message board software...) is that, occasionally, if you do a search on Google, you'll hit on a thread that has http://www.thathomesite.com/forums/ as the leading part of the URL rather than the normal http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/ that you get if you go to the GardenWeb website and navigate to this forum. For whatever reason, although you can click and see new messages just like you would if you were actually in the forum, if you try to log in it will just cycle you through a loop, with "name" appearing blank. I have no idea why these aren't seamlessly integrated or why it's possible to see the new posts with the old domain, but if you just type over it with ths.gardenweb.com it will fix the problem. Probably won't work for every instance of this, but if you're someone like me who searches in Google or other outside search engines, it's worth making sure the address bar shows the right domain if you have trouble logging in. Also, for those with Macs---if you're having problems with not being able to clear the old user name/password, you might make sure Keychain isn't set to save your user names. That info won't get reset when the browser cookies and cache are cleared.
