I have not seen an add here in 2 years. Using Firefox an add block + with the easy list subscription.

I wasn't having the log in issues when everyone first began complaining about it last week, but I am as of just yesterday.

I'm having to log in more than once a day instead of every several weeks, and I'm seeing ads I've never had to deal with - going all the way back to when there were optional paid subscriptions here. My pop up blocker is working overtime as well

Using Chrome with AdThwart, I haven't seen an ad in years.

If you read the red print at the top of this site, it explains that there have been login problems. I haven't experienced that, however.

I have been having to log in much more often than I normally would and assume that is due to the problems the site is experiencing which is mentioned up at the top of the page in red, some people may have that collapsed and not be seeing it.

If you are using FF do you have ABP and is the definition subscription current?

If you do have a current version of ABP then right click on the "stop sign" icon on the Toolbar and make sure it wasn't accidentally disabled.

most things here and many other places you just need to block *.doubleclick.net and *.doubleclick.com

I did see the red message, think it appeared for the first time last Thursday night. I was wondering though why I wasn't experiencing the log in or ad issue about the first 4 days I was seeing complaints on the forums from others, but began to later after steps were being taken to correct it :)

I use Adblocker Plus and EasyList with Firefox and that has taken care of them for quite a while. However, yesterday when I logged in, I was getting popup ads and those annoying green underlined key words that popup more ads. I checked to see that Adblocker was enabled (it was), so I went to the EasyList web page and clicked on the link again to "Add EasyList to Adblocker Plus." When I returned to GardenWeb, the problem was solved. I don't know if this was just my particular problem or not, but thought I'd mention it...

Ok, I just downloaded firefox to my laptop computer.
I added the adblocker and Fanboy.

I can not log into gardenweb using firefox?
Is adblocker blocking something I need?
I was like a zombie when adding the adblocker/fanboy because this is my first experience with ad-ons.
I turned the "stop sign" to grey and still couldn't get this log on box to write my message in?
I Am using good ole IE8 to write this while putting up with those DARN adds to my right. Ugh.

you need to add easylist that is always the main one to add just go here and where it says easylist add to adblock plus click there then do the one for easyprivacy then you will need to close firefox then restart firefox to become active.
I have never used fanboy only the easylists.

here is some discussion about the two lists on the adblock forum. If it continues to block your login I would try removing the fanboy one and see if that makes a difference, I have never been blocked here using only easylist.

fanboy is mainly used to block stuff on adult sites, easylist does not block some of that stuff.

Those folks that are seeing ads, are you seeing them on all of the forums?

Previously I did not see any ads, using Adblock. Then they recently (with all the GW problems) started showing up. 2 days ago, I updated my Firefox, and added Easylist, but it hasn't made any difference.

I do think that the ads are only showing on the forums on the 'forums2' servor here...Seed Exchange, Plant Exchange, Winter Sowing, to name a few. I'm not seeing them on the forums on the 'ths' servor, nor on the 'forums' servor.

I use Firefox, Adblock and Easylist. I don't see any ads when I go to those forums.
hmmmm.....maybe later I will uninstall those things and reinstall them. That's all I can think of that 'might' help.

If it continues to block your login I would try removing the fanboy one and see if that makes a difference, I have never been blocked here using only easylist.

Where do you go to remove fanboy?
I went and clicked to ad easylist from the link here and nothing happens but I didn't know where to find and remove fanboy either.
I suppose if it was fangirl, I wouldn't be having this problem? "LOL"

I went up to tools and think I removed fanboy ok from there.
Then I was able to get this message box in firefox but everytime I hit preview it sends me to the page where all the forums are on.

No, I have never done that before, but in checking while at the Seed Exchange, I saw it was disabled for forums2.gardenweb.com. Once I removed the check, the ads were gone...POOF! Thanks so much...you are my hero.

Had to log in again as usual. What ever they are doing sure messed this site up. They sure are throwing a bunch of new cookies our way. Glad I got Cookie Wall to stop them all.

The way a browser remembers to keep you logged in to a site is with a cookie. If you're blocking all the gardenweb cookies you will have to log in every time. I block third party cookies but not gardenweb cookies and have never had a problem from them.

You can right click on any image that appears and block it. The option is on the bottom of the appearing drop down menu.

Yes, I understand and knew that (save those) but I am talking about all the new loads of strange cookies that started popping up when I come here since this site started showing all those ads to the right.

Thanks DA, I found my problem was, that popup was allowed when I snooped around here and found Popup Blocker Settings under Tools. It was listed and I removed it and that stopped it. I am just "learning the ropes" here with Windows 7. âº
Still can't log in here with FireFox so have to use IE if I want to post and reply. I just installed FF on here so have to tinker with it to see what's wrong. May remove it and reinstall when I am a little more settled down. I may have screwed up with adblocker and easy filter on that.

This problem just started for me two days ago. First, I had to log in when I normally stay logged in at all times. However, occasionally they do ask me to log in again.

This time tho, the site is covered with those incredibly annoying ads. I normally have no ads and have been on GW for many years. I don't think it's a browser issue.

I don't see any more messages from GW about this problem unless I'm missing something.

I think they took on a bunch more ads and are making us have to see them that is causing the problem.
