What's for dinner Tuesday?

I had great plans to try a new Thai recipe, but I had lunch too late, so it's leftover Spanish rice from last night with some garlic toast. Not hungry enough to enjoy Thai.

Sarris's for yummy smoked sausage with sauerkraut and green peppers, baby green limas.

I cooked up a batch of my rice and mixed grains with added quinoa, celery, carrots, and onions tossed in with the broth at the very beginning. I added some smoked sausage half way through, cut into half inch rounds and a couple of big handfuls of kale at the end. Hot sauce to taste! Yum. This concoction is also great with chicken or shrimp....or as a side dish. Nice on a cold evening.

Glenda, have fun with your boys! Chi83, I've seen a few soup recipes on Pinterest that used kale and beans. Nice combination---I could sub something else for the quinoa, I'm sure. Monica, yum! Bet your house smells so good. I imagine a lot of KT'ers will be looking for the key lime pie mix. Pam, you get more done in one day than 5 people! When I lived in IN I used to work the polls. It was nice when people brought us goodies since we couldn't leave the building from 5 a.m. until about 7 or 8 that night. I loved doing that! Shirley, after reading Pam's post I feel like I did nothing! Got more to do tomorrow. I'll be glad when tilapia tastes right again! Jasdip, I've read about those tomatoes too, but I thought they were really expensive. Glad you found out differently. I like Pomi brand tomatoes. They are imported from Italy and in a box like chicken broth comes in. The ingredient list is pretty short: tomatoes. :-) Mary, unfortunately I'm not finished with all the changes, but the list is getting short. :-) Grilled cheese sounds really good. Georgysmom, do you like your new closet? Was your DH surprised? Good luck at bridge!! Raven, hope that rain heads north instead of east. Spaghetti was always a winning dinner around here.

Yea, seagrass! You had enough left over. Harry used to make a really good acorn squash and fill the center with a brown sugar, pecan and splash of bourbon filling. It was like dessert! Enjoy your dinner! Glenda, I drool everytime I hear "smoked chicken salad". Saw an ad for a place that sells smoked mullet. Have to find it and make some mullet spread. Lordy, I could live on that stuff. Now you have us all intrigued about your lunch tomorrow. How about a hint? Is "it" male or female :-) Sue, I swear you have the best kids. They sure are a big help to them--but then, you're a big help to them, also. Sweet Betsy, so good of you to help at the hospice library. They took good care of Harry for the short time he was there. Good luck with your cheesecake. They're pretty easy, really. Shirley, isn't it strange how something can sound so good and turn out bad? I have 4 3-ring binders with recipes and make comments in the margin after I try them--whether good or bad and changes I made or would make. Maybe someone will like reading them someday. I know your salmon patties were good, though!! Jasdip, that's just too darned cold for me. Your pasta and veggies tasted nice and warming, I bet. Stay warm!!

We ate out tonight......I had the chile relleno combo but with two servings of pinto beans and no rice. I have decided if I am ever on death row and get to pick a last meal, I will have Rancho Nipomo's chile relleno with pinto beans. They have the best salsas.......the owner grows his own chiles.

Man, Glenda, you have the best time eating lunch out! Always something different and it always sounds so good. I had a golf tournament today followed by lunch. We had a salad, shrimp creole and ice cream with strawberry sauce. We didn't eat until after 3:00 so I'm not hungry. Don't know what DH is going to eat, but I am having a hard boiled egg and maybe some fruit. We also had beignets and fruit for breakfast. I have to counter act those beignets by eating very little more the rest of the day!

georgysmom, if I had my druthers, I'd rather be cooking. But I don't enjoy cooking for just myself.

Generally know what restaurant serves on certain days.

I put two Michillina's Fettucine Alfredos (sp) on one plate and zapped it it was good. I'd rather eat out but, ,, ,

It is too hot to cook here. I am having half of a Kashi pizza cooked in my convection toaster oven.

Glenda, I wish we knew restaurants that served food like you'd make at home. I wouldn't cook either ;-)

Kathleen, my dinner tonight was supposed to be a shrimp curry--oh well, there's always tomorrow.

My sister was in Indiana over the weekend and made vegetable soup, Shirley. Been thinking about it ever since. Never gets too hot for that!

We had your dinner a couple of nights ago, Nita. I wrapped the hot dogs in bacon and stuck them in the oven. Came to the conclusion that I don't like baked beans. Go figure!

How'd you do in your tournament, Georgiesmom? Was it really hot where you are?

Minnie, I keep stuff in the freezer just for nights I don't want to cook. Aren't they a lifesaver?

You poor folks in the midwest are just broiling. How are you faring, Linda??? We pretty much do that every summer, but then we don't live with snow on the ground for six months so it must be an awful shock for y'all. Don't use any more energy than you have to--just makes you hotter! :-) Toaster ovens are perfect for hot days.

Another night of good sounding meals!!

My former MIL got me started on splitting a hot dog in the middle, spreading mustard, some cheese in the middle and then wrapping the hot dog with bacon.

Love that stuff!

Pattie....didn't do so good in the tournament. I was on the committee in charge of the decorations, breakfast and lunch. I was pleased over all at how things went but there were a few snafu's that only the committee new about. Everyone loved it. I forgot to bring my camera but if I get some pictures, I will try to post them. I'm glad it's over with.

Glenda...I don't even like to cook for two anymore..., but I admire the fact that you go out every day and get a great lunch. It's a good thing. I'm afraid I'd be too lazy to do even that.

My DD and her friend made us chicken fajitas tonight. They tasted much better than any I have ever made!

We also had guacamole and bean salsa. Yum!

Ate snacks all day, but pretty healthy-sliced turkey, lots of fruit. Not hungry for dinner. DH heated up 2 slices of frozen pizza.

Lydia, how nice of your daughter and friend. The whole meal sounds wonderful.

Sorry you didn't win, Georgysmom, but look at all the exercise you got!! Unless something really goes wrong (like the caterer doesn't show up) hardly anyone notices when things don't go exactly as planned.

I'd rather snack like you did, Jannie. Wouldn't work around here. Harry eats 3 meals--no snacks.
