Read the ingredients on the bottle. You can probably use any shampoo on your body. I certainly don't know what's special ,about volumizing shampoo.

I'm wondering what the difference is in shampoo to add body to you hair and the shampoo to add volumn!

Body and volume are pretty much the same thing so my guess would be no. Actually I think shampoo makes little difference.It's the conditioners and after products you use that add texture and body to hair.

LOL, I thought thats what you might have meant. I have used so many and honestly, for me, I dont see much difference in any of them.
I got a shampoo and conditioner for my Grandson called Cowabunga Coconut and I liked it so much its all I use now !

I can't say whether or how much shampoo seems to have to do with it ...

... but my body seems to volumize without much extra inducement.

CB, my hair feels thicker since I started using Aussie Awesome volumizing shampoo.

I've also used Aussie Awesome -- but just occasionally. "Body" and "volumizing" are the same thing--there's a substance in the shampoo that just coats the strand of hair. I don't care for it so much, it feels kind of sticky and hard to get a comb through. I find that when I color my hair (either myself, from a box, or when I have it done at the salon), that coats the strands of hair, too, and thickens it, but it doesn't feel icky. So it's two treatments for the price of one!

Mine doesn't feel sticky at all. I don't use conditioner or color on it, don't know if that matters or not.

My hair is baby fine. I can't use any kind of conditioner on it, because it makes it too soft and it goes flat(ter) than ever. Even the conditioners that say they won't make it go flat..do! I've also found that I can't use any shampoo, regardless of the miracles it promises, unless it's a "clear" shampoo. Any of the creamy colored shampoo's flatten my hair. I've used Prell for years..but it's getting harder and harder to find.

It really doesn't matter much what you use to wash your hair -- long as it isn't as harsh as laundry detergent! LOL

The conditioner DOES matter. (Never understood how a product can both clean and 'condition'.)

My hair is also baby fine. Last night I used a new shampoo, came in a cute bottle and was free after rebate. It's called "cleanse". It left a sticky, hard to run a brush thru my hair feeling. My hair has LOTS more volume....it's poofy!!! :0)

If you want more volume, but don't want to go the 'volumizing shampoo route', try reading the ingredients in the shampoo you usually use. If you see sodium laurel sulphate--immediately toss the bottle in the trash, even if it's almost full. SLS is terrible for both hair and scalp. It's clinically used to produce rashes to test medications for them. It strips your hair, makes it thin and unhealthy. And unfortnately, it's in many, many shampoos. Why? It makes them foam. Totally there for 'show'. Since most of us are adults and making elaborate hair sculptures isn't a necessary part of shampooing for us--we don't need SLS. I use an organic shampoo--it doesn't suds like the regular supermarket shampoos do, BUT it cleans my hair beautifully, and unbelievably, my hair is way, way thicker and healthier now--at age 60--than it was when I was 50 (and still using supermarket shampoo). Just switching to a SLS free shampoo will make a noticeable difference in the thickness/health of your hair. Of course, you have to wait patiently for the new, healthy hair to grow out. And you need to educate yourself about SLS--it's one of those components that goes by many names.

Seriously, though, I don't think my hair has been this healthy for about 40 years. WELL worth the extra $$$ for a better shampoo.

When I was in my twenties, my hair was alwats greasy and oily. the only thing that helped was shampooing with Joy dishwashing liquid, and I needed a good strong conditioner.

countybumpkin, I still use Prell. People don't believe how nice it makes your hair look, shiny and clean. My beauty operator was always telling my now nice my hair was. One day they were discussing bad shampoos and Prell was at the top of their list. I said you're kidding, Prell is great I have used it for years and years. I never understand someone washing their hair then putting things back on it they just washed off. And I hate the clumpy hair styles they have today, it looks heavy and dirty. Yuck! In The Holiday with Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet (I think). Kate's hair is a good example of bad hair when she goes with Eli Wallach to A Night With Arthur.

Walmart still sells Prell, but there is no big display, you have to look for it. Usually on the very top or the bottom row.

There is nothing wrong with Prell if you have virgin hair. But it's awful for tinted hair. Most everyone I know colors their hair.

I used to buy drugstore brands because I though salon brands were too expensive. Then one day I did the math and tried a salon shampoo. It was on special and I bought a one liter bottle each of shampoo and conditioner. Cost around 80 or 90 dollars.

Those bottles lasted me for almost 2 years. That's less than $4.00 a month for both a quality shampoo and conditioner. I was paying at least double or triple that or more per month when I was buying regular drugstore products. I have long hair. I use a dime sized amount of shampoo to do my whole head. I'm a convert for life.

I'm on my second set now and it's been past 2 years. That's because I alternate with a different brand a couple of times a month. Even including the cost of the alternates I'm still money ahead of the drugstore ones.

My father died at the age of 90 with most of his hair still on his head. Healthy hair. He never used a shampoo in his life. Dial Soap,Lifeboy whatever was in the shower or tub.

Vala...our Walmart removed Prell from their shelves several years ago. Now, I can only find it at the Dollar Stores like Dollar General or Fred's! My hair is virgin and very short. I haven't had any chemicals on my hair in years. The most expensive product I use on my hair is my hairspray. I bought a sample can of Beyond the Zone Frozen Stiff at Sally's years ago and it is the only hairspray that will hold my hair. It's about $7.00 a can..but I usually buy it when it's on sale Buy 2/Get 1 Free. A can last me a couple of months.

I think people pay to much attention to the hype that is put out about products. The only time I use conditioners is when I have a perm, I have never used coloring, I always planned to play around with color when my hair turned white, but alas I don't think that is ever going to happen. I am 73 and my hair is still dark brown in the back with just a little gray in the front.

BTW baby shampoos are one of the harshest shampoos there are. The only reason it is called "baby shampoo" is because it doesn't burn the eyes.

I started using loreal's sulfate free shampoo and conditioner a couple of months ago, because I had heard how bad sulfates were for your hair. I love it. I use the green bottle, it's like rosemary mint or something like that. I have found that I can extend my color by 1-2 weeks, and I had been coloring my roots every 2-3 weeks, so that was a big deal for me. And it's pretty inexpensive, $6.00 at Target and Walmart. It's the everpure line, I think.
