'Words With Friends' Do You play?

I have become somewhat addicted to this game...I really look forward to playing it just about everyday.

I play with a few friends, but they tend to only play one round every week or so. By the time they play, I've forgotten any ideas I had for my letters. We also play Scramble with Friends and Draw Something.

I play it, but really like "Hanging with friends" much better.

I am an avid Scrabble player on Facebook. Love it. Like you, I have 4 to 5 games going at any given time. I think this is a relative view point. Traditionally, Scrabble is about vocabulary and tile placement. If you use the "word finders" then the game becomes more heavily weighted to the tile placement strategy. It is almost a different game. It really depends what you and the person you are playing enjoy. Everyone knows an "x" can be worth 8 points if played "straight up" or it can be worth 48 points if played on a triple in two directions. So, I would say that people who grew up playing table scrabble consider using those finder sites as cheating and they assign very negative feelings toward people who use them. Same feelings for those who use 2 and 3 word sites or lists. Others, however, play that way openly and still enjoy the game tremendously. Personally, I use the sites on occasion when I know there is something there that I just can't "see". I don't use words that I don't know though. When I don't know a word, I look it up and try to use it another time in a different game, because then the word is "mine". So hate away you traditionalists, but I am happy playing my way and the people I play with are fine too! :)

My friends keep asking me to play but I don't want to. Even though I do like Scrabble. I've heard a lot of people cheat at the game and even admit to doing it. I am SO addicted to Angry Birds though! I haven't played games like this one since Mario Brothers first came out. lol. I stopped playing when all the Nintendo controllers got complicated. Angry Birds is fun because it's not timed, and it has a lot of little secrets like Mario had. Before I got my iPad, I kept hearing about Angry Birds constantly. They even sell stuffed animals. I had no idea what the big deal was. It's a huge deal. lol. I believe it's the most popular game out there right now. There's fun strategy, too. I kind of got off topic didn't I? It's my addiction talking. :)

When they do the word challenge games (the makers, not the players), and if you want to play straight through, you can use your coins to play right away, otherwise you have to wait 12 or 24 hours (not sure how long) to do the next round.

This is the fifth time in my social/family circle that I have heard of someone being killed by a close family member. It is more common than people think. In all of the cases I am referencing, the woman and in some cases children, were killed by the father/husband/boyfriend. Getting over it will be a long process. I would advise taking a tip from the "When Bad Things Happen to Good People" school of thought. One will never be able to figure out the "why" or get over the shock and horror and grief. But one must move forward. Important to move forward in honor of those we have lost. This is what they would want for us and from us. Just be there for them consistently, let them talk about it without trying to make it less or make it go away, but also encourage positive actions in honor of those who are lost. Perhaps some type of memorial. In several of the cases I know where someone was killed, the community has established scholarship and violence prevention programs in their honor. Perhaps there is one already going on in your community to which you could donate in honor of the family.

Raven words with friends is on Facebook, it is scrabble essentially. Fun game to play with friends and family.

You can also play it on you smart phone. My DD and I play it together - but she beats me every time. She's much better at playing the bonus words than I am.

I always have four or five games going. The only times I haven't enjoyed it were when my opponents used one of those online programs that tell you what words to play. The result is a lot of long words no one ever heard of. I don't mine losing, but to me that's no fun. Why play if a program is playing for you? I sometimes play words I never heard of because I try this and that combination, but they're usually short. And I have most of the 2-letter words memorized.

I don't use a dictionary, but one of the friends I play with does. She beats me 3/4 of the time. Good thing I'm not very competitive. :-)

Maire, do you use a WWF app on your phone? When I get my tablet I'll be bugging you for a game. Right now I play via Facebook.

Speaking of WWF, did you know ZA means pizza? How crazy is that? Try ordering one that way the next time you're in a pizzeria. LOL

I played Words with Friends a lot for awhile, but don't play much anymore. I still love Scramble with Friends, and my current favorite is Draw Something.

I play Words with Friends daily on my kindle. I can play on Facebook too, but I very seldom do.
