I think this movie about Julia Childs would be hilarious. Meryl Streep is a perfect fit! Even hubs thinks it would be a good one. We'll put it on our list of DVD's when it comes out to rent for sure.

OMG--DH and I have never been to a movie together (married over 27 years). I would just love to see that movie. Meryl Streep has Julia's voice down pat! (I love Julia Child.)

I agree; I rarely am intrigued by movie ads, but this does seem like one I would love.

I have Julia Child. I love her, though I don't think she's going to fit every category perfectly. She's a wonderful bloomer, with lots of beautiful clusters of flowers. They do fade, though. I like the contrast of dark and pale yellow that is the result of clusters not blooming quite all at the same time, but that's me. She also doesn't have the strongest smell. It's a nice smell, but not super-strong to my nose. I haven't had any disease problems with her, though. Julia is also one of the most common yellow roses I've seen in garden displays, and she always looks great--so I know it's not just the particular plant I have. It's gotten so I can identify a Julia from pretty far away. :>

Ah, Julia. It is like Iceberg here. It is disease resistant for some people and not for others. It wasn't for me, but it was a pretty thing. Not a great fragrance, not good as a cut flower. Sunsprite is another that is sometimes resistant. You might try one of the "Fairy Tale" series from Kordes, the two that I have are totally clean and have not been treated for blackspot all season. Golden Fairy Tale looks nice.

I am zone 9 - very hot dry summers. JC never got over 3 feet for me - had her about 6 years. I just moved and have been rose shopping. I went to nursery last year in our record breaking hot spell - over 105 - the only roses blooming in their black containers were Doris Day. All of them were blooming - so thats the yellow rose for me.

I really want to see this movie too. And I am not normally a Meryl Streep fan. But from the previews, she does have Julia's voice down pat.

That looks like a great show! (It is Julie & Julia, btw)

DH & I go to the movies together quite often - but we have a $2 theater in our little town. I bet Julie & Julia will come to our theatre - that is just the kind of movies that they show.
