I think this movie about Julia Childs would be hilarious. Meryl Streep is a perfect fit! Even hubs thinks it would be a good one. We'll put it on our list of DVD's when it comes out to rent for sure.

OMG--DH and I have never been to a movie together (married over 27 years). I would just love to see that movie. Meryl Streep has Julia's voice down pat! (I love Julia Child.)

I agree; I rarely am intrigued by movie ads, but this does seem like one I would love.

I'm in the Midwest and got my Danby marble from Global Granite and Marble in St. Louis. They are a wholesaler so you have to purchase through a fabricator who also sets the pricing. You might give them a call to see if they have a list of fabricators that do soapstone. Their website shows they carry soapstone. I don't have any fabricator leads in STL as I had to drive many hours to pick my slabs.

I am zone 9 - very hot dry summers. JC never got over 3 feet for me - had her about 6 years. I just moved and have been rose shopping. I went to nursery last year in our record breaking hot spell - over 105 - the only roses blooming in their black containers were Doris Day. All of them were blooming - so thats the yellow rose for me.

Thank you Seil & Patty! Unfortunately it looks like Angel Gardens and Northland sell Koko on own-root stock. I'm hoping for bare root/grafted, as I've had much better success with grafted plants where I am vs. own-root. The own-root roses I've bought have sat and sulked while the grafted ones (primarily from David Austin) have far surpassed them. This may have to do with individual varieties or other factors, I'm not sure (nor an expert, but I'm trying to learn!) but for now I'm attempting to stick with grafted roses when possible :) Another problematic factor is that the island I live on has no stores at all, and therefore no nurseries! The nearest nursery, accessible only by boat, has a pretty small selection. Sarah- thank you so much for reminding me about Christianson's!!! I've been there (what a dream) but somehow it never occurred to me to check their website for a rose list, duh! I will look into that (always eager for an excuse to make the trip and visit that place!)

Ryan, Good as Gold is a rose that I still have in a 5 gallon pot after 2 years! I make the excuse for that because it was a horrible bare root that almost died. As a result (?) it has not bloomed a lot. But I love the blooms when it does. After having read that it gets big (and now confirmation from you on that), I'm inclined not to give it a precious spot in my front corral when I pot it up to 15 gallons. I'll probably keep it as a potted specimen on the driveway and see how big it actually gets before making a final decision. It hasn't shown any inclination to go big yet, but that's not surprising, given that it's been in the hospital for 2 years :-D Feiy Lo, now those are beauty shots of South Africa!!!

I really want to see this movie too. And I am not normally a Meryl Streep fan. But from the previews, she does have Julia's voice down pat.

That looks like a great show! (It is Julie & Julia, btw)

DH & I go to the movies together quite often - but we have a $2 theater in our little town. I bet Julie & Julia will come to our theatre - that is just the kind of movies that they show.
