Surgery's over!

DS came out of 6 1/2 hours of surgery about 20 minutes ago and is in recovery.The doctors are reasonably sure they got all the tumor.He didn't need any blood and they said everything went as expected.DDIL hasn't gotten to see him yet and won't be able to until 4 this afternoon.So far so good!

Thank all of you again for your prayers and concern.It means a lot to us.

Even though I am new here I have read your story, and I am so Thankful everything went well for him today, Lilliepad.
We can never have too many people praying for us, and I will keep you in mine !

I'm sad to report that today I am going to the memorial service for my friend, Candy. She was the one I mentioned in this post that had lung cancer. There are few in this world that are as delightful, caring, funny, talented, and giving as she was. I'm a richer person for having had the pleasure of knowing her and working with her. Thank you all for the prayers you sent her way last November. She is survived by her life partner, Guy, one daughter and 4 grandchildren, and many, many many friends who will miss her terribly. Coincidentally, her funeral is happening on the 10th anniversary of my mother's death. RIP, Mom. I still miss you every day. This forum is the best. Thank you all again for being here. Sally

Thank you for the input. I will first make an appointment with the ENT surgeon and find out everthing I need to know regarding having vs not having surgery. If I decide to go ahead (which I probably will), then we can go to the cardiologist. Actually the surgeon will be the second opinion in a sense. The ENT that diagnosed him had no personality whatsoever. A couple at church recommended a surgeon who works by primary care referrals only. When I went to my primary care doctor, he thought the surgery was a good idea and spoke highly of the surgeon I wanted to go to. The first ENT and my primary said surgery wasn't crucial, but for the reasons you all mention, plus the fact that my little guy won't remember too much, I think I should do it.

Grinch-I got lapband surgery.They want me to lose 50lbs.I lost 42 but my blood pressure would get in 80s then dr would raise my dry weight,He kept doing this like 8 times,a kilo is 3-4lbs he raised it like 8 times so I gave up.I was fighting a losing battle.He asked one day if i want to get lapband finally I said just make me an appointment. soo. I checked in hospital at 9 am ,10:30 they took me up to operating room I was there and recovery till 4:30.we got home 7:30,they said Im the first dialysis patient even in hershey to have this done.They said they had a little trouble working around my kidneys, but got it done.I got 6 holes in my stomach.\ My mouth is really dry for 3-5 days I can only have 2 T.of liquid every 1/2 hour.then for 2 weeks I can add milk ,cream soups at stage 5 I can have almost anything.lookin forward to eatting food again.

That's just great. I'm surprised they are doing surgery on any Saturday, not to mention Holy Saturday or Easter. We will be praying for her and I'm so glad she'd doing better. What a relief it must be for you. (((Jasdip)))

Fingers crossed they got it all.

I survived Hodgkins lymphoma over 22 years ago, and I know that even if there is something remaining they can treat it.
