I have been shopping for groceries today. My supper was a quick one, grilled cheese sandwich, radishes from my garden and milk to drink.

It is hot here too, in the 80's.

Gazpacho with crab meat on top. I have to play bridge tonight and needed a quickie meal.

fish sticks and mixed veggies...we buy these whole fish (not minced) ones at Costco...I do oven bake, but thank goodness for great over the oven fan!

had to reset all the clocks from power outage (all of a few seconds) about 4am...

Today was a nice sunny day with beautiful breezes. The humidity wasn't as high as it has been, and temps are supposed to get real comfortable starting Thursday.

I simmered some garlic cloves in olive oil and had that in a jar in the frig for a quick flavouring. I marinated some chicken pieces in that all day along with fresh rosemary and chopped lovage. We grilled the chicken along with grilled eggplant rounds and halved tomatoes drizzled with the garlic olive oil.

I also sauteed rice in the garlic olive oil and cooked it with some red pepper flakes and some of of the cloves.

Cooled off to 85 today.Open face Roast Beef. Pie, ice cream, and candy bars to follow.

Chinese yesterday and today!

It's in the mid-90's here. I've been running errands all day, and I have a couple more before I make dinner. So, I think I'll make us grilled hotdogs with sauteed onions and fresh veggies and dip. I've been hankering for a grilled dog for about a week. Cold, pitted cherries for dessert.

Taco Pizza. One of husband's favorites. And easy!

Angel, is your taco pizza corn crust or regular dough? I make mini ones on corn tortillas.

Hot day here! We just had a thunderstorm pass through and can hear the thunder rumbling nearby again....

Dinner will be a garden salad, pasta with sauce and other side options, including the ricotta I made last night!

Sue: I'll bet those fresh from the garden radishes are good. I like grilled cheese and like to pair it up with tomato soup.

Georgysmom: That meal would be quick, easy, AND good.

Susanfj: I wish I could find that kind of fish stick around here. I have way too many clocks and hate all power outages.

Jasdip: Still hot/muggy here in Ohio. Glad you're getting a break. What a good idea with the oil and garlic. Just the right touch to your meal tonight. Do you start with cooked rice?

Old Fixer: Mmm... One main dish (one of my favorites) and 1, 2, 3 desserts. You sound like an uncle of mine.

Alice: Just make my dog plain and without a bun. If you've been out and about, you need an easy meal.

Angelaid: Easy meal and husband likes it. That goes a long way in my book.

I put some chunks of zucchini, yellow crookneck, onions, green and red bell pepper, and mushrooms in my grilling basket after marinating in a lemon vinaigrette, then grilled them with a couple of pretty pork chops. Fixed a batch of mixed grains with field peas added.

OF, you are so funny......"pie, ice cream, and candy bars "! Are you sure that you're not really eleven years old and home alone? Lol

Georgysmom, I was just thinking today that gazpacho was in my very near future! I love that stuff.

Molly is making homemade Sweet & Sour Pork with rice, and steamed zucchini & yellow squash. I overdid it shopping for groceries. So that is why I am not cooking, but I managed to stay within my food budget...lol

Rhizo: Oh, does that meal sound good. Especially the pork chops and mixed grains.

Orchid: Staying within your food budget is quite an accomplishment. Molly's meal sounds very good.

gadgets/Shirley, yes I made the ricotta last night. It was the first time ever for me and I couldn't believe how easy it was! We tried it with pasta tonight and it was fantastic. Can't believe I didn't know this before now. :p

I made a new recipe one pot burrito bowls and it was yummy. Recipe below

I just roll out a Pillsbury pizza dough in a 13 x 9 inch baking dish, prebake for 8 minutes, add taco meat and cheese and bake another 10 minutes. Done! Top with your choice of taco toppings, lettuce, tomato, onion, salsa, sour cream, etc, Husband loves it!

Shirley, I sauteed raw rice in the garlic/olive oil and some red pepper flakes. Then added the water and cooked it. I also put some of the soft garlic in from the oil when it was cooked for added flavour. This is very handy, to have a jar of garlic and oil in the frig. I crushed a head of garlic and simmered it in 1 cup of olive oil for 15 minutes.....don't let it brown. It keeps in the frig for a week.
