I have been running around with Cheryl today. We had an early lunch at Fazoli's. Had their special. Shopped some more and then came home. I fixed myself a egg scrambled in some leftover fried potatoes, some bacon, toast, sliced tomatoes and now a piece of homemade zucchini cake. Water to drink. Very hot again here today.

Patti....GUESS what we're having? (I mentioned it last week.)

I loaded up the crockpot with my favorite Anasazi Beans and spiral ham ham hocks. These hocks are wonderful, so meaty and tasty. Additionally onions, Rotels, garlic and spices. It's smelling delicious in here. I will cook some rice to go with it. I know it's hot to be making beans but it's cloudy and rainy and I couldn't pass up those ham hocks. I have enough of them left to make some kind of soup too.

Too hot to cook, neither of us hungry. We just had bowls of cantaloupe and watermelon with yogurt. We'll be grazing on more melon thru the evening when we get hungry.

I want to make Raven's avocado dressing, and I purposely bought avocados that were on sale for this. I thought I had sour cream, but I don't. Can I sub the plain yogurt for the sour cream??

Sue, you must sleep so good at night after your busy days! I'm about ready for breakfast for dinner.

Raven, I don't care how hot it gets, those beans sound sooo good. I like to get ham hocks from Honey Baked Ham for soup. That little bit of sweetness sure makes a nice pot of beans. Plus they leave a ton of meat left on them. Enjoy them!

Jasdip, I would say yes to using yogurt in place of the sour cream. That dressing is really delicious on just about anything. Harry had a bowl of cantaloupe for lunch today.

The heat is back but no rain. Today was a busy day at work.
Dinner was grilled cheese sandwiches for hubby & I had a bowl of cereal.

I had a stuffed pepper and a potato for my meal.

I think it must be super hot over most of the states. I know it is here in Ohio. Of course, our local station always says "It's Jamboree in the Hills weather".

Heading out to my favorite restaurant for dinner with the birthday group.

We had to bring the cars in for inspection today and DH suggested we go to lunch while we waited for his car to be done. I wasn't hungry and definitely didn't want to go to lunch but I didn't dare say no so I had a cup of soup and a meatloaf sandwich. Didn't eat the sandwich so guess what DH is having for dinner tonight.

My ride should be here any minute.

Patti, the ingredients for Frogmore Stew are in the fridge right now. Our neighbors delivered the fresh shrimp this morning.

I am thinking of making blts too. There is some bacon in the fridge that needs to be used up soon.

jasdip I bet that substitute would be fine, let us know.

Worked all afternoon (volunteering at Wildlife Rescue and Reabilitation) and was too tired to cook.

I made 7-layer salad last week at work. A lot of people really like it. For the senior nutrition menu, it calls for lettuce, carrots, onions,celery, thawed frozen peas. Then I used Miracle Whip with some sugar in it and a little milk to make it thinner. Shredded cheese on top. I know some people say it has to be mayonnaise but everybody likes it the way I make it. Some recipes also call for bacon, but this one doesnt.
