Took grandson down by Farmer's Market to Niki's West.
His first time and he was wowed by the food in the cafeteria line.

He had lemon baked chicken, fried okra and collards
Me: The bestest fried green tomatoes, I mean the bestest, with boiled okra and veal cutlet.

Drove around the trucks at farmer's markets and man was holding up 2 then 3 fingers, which means he was selling his watermelons off the truck for that price. Bought a $2 to take to grandson's dad for them to enjoy.

Then he ever so politely asked me to take him to the golf range to hit a basket of balls and THEN when finished wanted to putt some.

Sounds like a fun day, Glenda, but those kids sure can wear a person out! He was just getting you geared up for next week!

Thank goodness there were rockers on the porch facing the golfing range, so I could rock and drink ice water.

Patti: There is nothing wrong with having several days of leftovers.....very economical too.

Today I had a mix of both 'firsts' and leftovers. I made a '3 bean soup' and had a couple of salmon patties. I dug a frozen pumpkin muffin from the freezer to have too.

Tonight is fajitas night, I have fresh fruit for dessert strawberries, bananas, and cantaloupe.

Glenda, those rockers must've looked like a little bit of heaven, especially in this heat!

Shirley, I keep telling myself that--it's economical :-) We never had leftovers when I was a kid. With 7 children in the family, there just weren't any. My father wouldn't have eaten them anyway. We sure do like salmon patties. They are another one of those things I never think about making.

Yummy again tonight, Raven. Like fruit with my meals, no matter what it is.

I found a recipe in House Beautiful mag for THE hamburger that's making some restaurant famous....then found ground veal on sale...OK...so I tried it. It's made with half ground veal and half ground round....it was sort of tasteless and lean....just OK.

I'm calling them veal burgers and have enough for 3 nights.

Ravencajun, how do you make your fajitas? Lauren and I share everytime we go eat Mexican but I've never made them at home. The one place we like makes them in a yummy sauce but don't know what's in it.

Tonight we are having baked chicken with different spices and cream of chicken soup, fresh corn on the cob, leftover veggie mix and cornbread. I may cut up a few plumbs I bought too so they get eaten. My kids have a tendency to not eat the fruit I buy unless I serve it to them in a meal.
