Oops, almost forgot I'm still patti: Monday's dinner

Been playing Mexican Train all afternoon, and before that 10 of us met for our usual 2nd Monday of the month lunch.

Lloyds Restaurant and I had their half hamburger steak with caramalized onions, tossed salad and butterpeas.

Know your dinner will be or was scrumptious!

Please tell!

I had a grilled pork chop, corn on the cob and this fruit salad I made with vanilla yogurt for the dressing.

Shirley, how I love turkey and gravy. Only can I have mine over toast? (I think I just invited myself to dinner--sorry!) It just sounds so darned good. Jude, do you make your own tamales? I've read recipes for them and it doesn't sound too hard, but if there's something good on the market that doesn't involve making the dough, etc., please let me know the secret. I just love those things! Nice, healthy dinner, Raven. Harry got some nice, fresh tilapia at Publix last week. Your DH must be a good vegetable eater, too. Yogalady, that's my goal--only the whole house clean at one time. I think I need a few more arms and a better back, though. Not everyone likes to cook or recipes just make too much, but we all have to eat. Doesn't matter if it's store bought, homemade or takeout, it's fun to share what we're eating every day (and also what we're doing). Right now, you've given me the ambition to get with it in the a.m. and get more done. Thank you!!!

Nice green salad and some canned peaches. Time to lay off the junk and get my system back in order. Too many sweets, too many big portions. Did the two milk walk with Leslie Sansone tonight and almost didnt' make it. ha. Usually I can do the one mile pretty well but the two is a killer for me and it's only 30min.

Georgysmom, it all sounds wonderful. Your DH must've been in heaven! I'm not a big fan of lamb, though. I made your gazpacho soup this morning. I forgot the yogurt, but went ahead and put the rest of it together and I'll add it later this afternoon. It sure smells good! Poor Kathleen, you just weren't meant to have that quiche. Azzalea, I'll dig out my recipe. I got it from my boss' wife. She was Korean and made it often. I used to have a bulgogi cooker. It was a large brass pot on three ornate legs with a grate in the bottom for charcoal and a domed top with holes that you lay the meat over. It was more for looks than use, though. I gave it to a neighbor who had always admired it. Nita, that's so darned irritating. Usually kids don't bother me, but screaming little darlings in a restaurant ruins dinner for all the other diners. You can't even carry on a conversation. Rob333, I have some leftover smoked gouda, too. And chicken, white wine, chicken broth and cream. Just need some ham. Did you thicken the sauce with cornstarch? I need to make this!!

I had a stressful day, if anything could go wrong, it did. Was almost in tears when I left the office. It got worse from there. Had a splitting headache when I got home ... I don't get headaches ... and told hubby he was on his own for supper. He had leftover swiss steak and noodles. Then I come here and feel so guilty over my "pity party" because I haven't even come close to the obstacles some of you are, or have, faced, just to get through a day. You are each an inspiration to me and I am so grateful for the "perspective" you give me on "how important is this in the grand scheme of things?" Not very! So I will go to sleep feeling very thankful and grateful for what I have been blessed with tonight.

I am going to bbq some baby back ribs in the oven, bought them all pre sliced and seasoned just need to cook. Will do oven roasted baby red potatoes to go with it.

Busy day today, with all the rain we had the lawns are 3 times longer then normal. Had to cut our own when we got home.
For dinner it was a frozen pizza for hubby & I had a bowl of cereal.

Got all my washing and ironing caught up today. Did lots of odds and ends, stripped the bed and washed and ironed the sheets, gave myself a pedicure, gathered up the food I want to bring on my trip, put final items in suitcase, changed to a smaller golf bag and washed my regular bag (which is white) with awesome. Tonight I will do a little cleaning. Nothing heavy, just a little vacuuming and dusting, so dinner is going to be easy. Some gazpacho with ham and cheese sandwiches.

I've been making cold sides and salads as the weather is so humid and hot (for me).

I tried a quinoa, corn, carrot, onion, with a chipotle, lime juice, garlic, chili powder etc dressing. It was good.

Browned a butterflied chicken breast that was marinated in lime juice and cumin, oil, jalapeno. It was all good, they're both keepers.

Who doesn't love baby back ribs, raven! I do!

mary, will be so glad when the rains and humidty pass! I'll join you with my nightly bowl of oatmea!

georgysmom, have a great trip. Hope you go into the historic Carolina Hotel. Took my gs thru it during Christmas when he was a toddler, and always hoped to be able to let him have Christmas dinner there when he got old enough to appreciate sigh

jasdip, I must try quiona some day. Your chicken breast sounds like it is right up there!

We're eating out tonight. Calamari with diced peperoncini & tomato, a pizza & a nice bottle of red wine.
