We're having the remaining fried rice and hot and sour soup. That will take care of left overs, but oh so good. Guess I'll have to cook tomorrow.

Patti I hope your watermelon is good, every one I have bought this summer were awful and ended up over the fence for the wild life. I would love to find a good old fashioned one with seeds that taste like it should, all these small seedless watermelon have no flavor.

3 for 3 on leftovers so far. My grits are leftover, too. I actually like food better after the flavors have all blended together. To say nothing about the saving in time and energy :-)

RavenCajun, I hear you!! I have been griping about those flavourless, pale pink and white melons for years. We can't even buy a "real" watermelon in stores anymore.

We've had 2 this year and they were bleh.
But we're on our second Ontario cantaloupe and they are awesome.

My potatoes need used up. I guess we've been eating rice, pasta and quinoa and neglecting the spuds. Getting wrinkled.
So I boiled a bunch of them up and we had sausages and peas with it. I'll fry the leftovers and cook up the rest soon.

Crab legs, new potatoes and fresh corn. Leftover homemade peach ice cream for dessert. We're in Colorado visiting with the kids and this is one of our traditional meals when we're all together.

Pork chops on the grill and leftovers. Need to clean out the fridge so I have room for Saturday's food. I made that broccoli salad today for the cookout and it is soooo good.

Sue, I noticed we had smoked sausage in the freezer while I was foraging this morning. Wish I had some of those home-grown green beans. Sigh!

Raven, this is the 3rd small round seedless whole watermelon we've had this year and every one has been really delicious. Not the case in years past, though. I swore I'd never buy another one, but I guess we just hit it lucky. The one I cut up today was extra tasty and when I came back in the house after being outside, the whole house smelled like ripe watermelon.

Jas, my potatoes start sprouting if I don't get to them. We don't eat them a lot for some reason. I love potatoes. Guess it's a seasonal thing.

We're having dirty rice, followed by banana pudding. (Both new recipes off Pinterest). Already "tested" the pudding, of course, and it's wonderful! And so, so easy!

Vicki, would you post your dirty rice recipe, please?

We had chicken and dumplings and as I was mixing them up, I realized I was using all purpose instead of self rising. I added baking powder and a little salt but not enough salt. I hate when I mess up making something that I love and have cooked a thousand times.

I prefer watermelons that have seeds too, but getting hard to find unless we go to the farm stand.

We were visiting the in-laws and went out to dinner. I had wonderful broiled scallops!! Yum with salad, baked potato and veggies. DH got a good steak!It was so large I managed to score a few pieces for myself.

Jasdip, here's the recipe for Dirty Rice - which was really good and easy!
Brown 1lb. Ground beef, 1 lb, ground sausage, and 1 diced onion. Drain the skillet.
In another pan, bring 1 8oz. Package of dirty rice mix, 2 cups water, 1 10oz. can diced tomatoes with green chiles, and 2 15oz. cans drained kidney beans to a boil.
Then add browned meat mixture. Return to a boil, reduce heat, and cover, stirring occasionally. Cook for 25 minutes.
