A lovely sunny day here.

We're having homemade spaghetti meat sauce over large shells. We bought a pineapple and we'll have some of that for dessert.

Broiled Atlantic salmon with orange sauce and capers, steamed broccoli, and cole slaw.
Homemade banana nut cake.

Taco Bell and a huge enormous icy cold Mountain Dew over extra ice. Bliss.

It will be a big tossed green salad with various chopped up veggies (I'm cleaning out the fridge). I bought 2lbs of nectrines and in the process of making a tart.

Sunny in the mid 80's today. We are expecting high humidity on Sunday, a rarity here in Nor Cal. Not looking forward to it!

The clouds have moved in, at 4:30 it is 77 degrees, with a forecast for 57 overnight.

I just finished 15 ears of corn (should be just under one gallon), and beans from the garden.

Tonight will be tomatillo soup: onion, garlic and tomatillos from the garden. As some pasta and hot peppers and a drollop of sour cream on top! I have some left over coleslaw and that will do us for at least 15 minutes.

Tony & the kids are having Stouffers Lasagna and I am having cream of chicken soup that is watered down. (see my hospital piece)

Steady rain here so no grilling. We'll be having pan fried talapia, broccoli slaw, some quinoa salad I made earlier for my lunch, probably some sliced tomatoes.

Jim, your soup sound great. I've been thinking of adding tomatillos to my garden next year. It's such a tasty vegetable.

Now, about those 15 ears of corn......I'll bet your belt is busting after that! (Kidding)

A perfectly beautiful day here. We are having homemade pizza for supper.

Jasdip: Homemade meat sauce. You can send me some. And pineapple for dessert would hit the spot.

Monica: I can just picture your table tonight. It's holding some good stuff with salmon and such good sides. Ahhh, then topped off with a homemade banana cake!!

Deeby: I don't get to eat at Taco Bell often. I get the Beef Gordita without the sour cream.

Matti: Enjoy your big salad. Is the tart to be dessert?

Jim: Your soup sounds inviting. And just think how you'll enjoy your garden supplies in the winter time.

Laura: Ah, shoot. That's tough to fix foods for others when you can't eat it. Could you have the soup over mashed potatoes?

Ellendi: I've never had a vegetable burger. Don't you just love this time of year when you can get fresh vegetables?

Rhizo: Fish and excellent side dishes (esp quinoa) makes a well balanced and healthy meal.

Pam: Homemade pizza brings back memories of when my grandkids would spend the night. We'd also make bread sticks.

lobster salad a friend brought me

Beautiful weather here today. A bit cooler (mid 80's) and not nearly as humid as usual for this time of year.

I had a delicious Pad Thai for lunch and had plenty of leftovers for my dinner. DH isn't really hungry, so that would've been perfect. I was working at our new office location today and forgot it in the fridge. I was about 30 minutes into my drive home when I realized it. It wasn't worth it to go back at that point.

So instead of Pad Thai, we're having fish and steamed broccoli. I woke up with a headache and have had it all day, so I don't feel like doing anything fancy.

OldFixer: Did you make enough for 2? That sounds like a great meal even without the candy bar.

Glenda: Lucky gal to have someone bring you a lobster salad.

Kittiemom: That's too bad about forgetting the leftovers. You substituted quite nicely. Hope you soon lose that headache.

Lots of yummy sounding meals. We had pizza tonight. DH had to eat quickly to get out to his training, and I wanted leftovers for a quick lunch before we meet up with friends tomorrow afternoon.

Hubby is out of town so I just had a piece of toast with avocado. And lots of salt! Boring, but good.

A friend had a party last night to celebrate getting a tenure track position at a different university. At his party he made food all evening:

Pan seared salmon atop a sofrito of cooked peppers and shallots

Pan seared duck breast with lightly steamed fresh green beans

Venison in a black currant reduction sauce

home-made chocolate mousse

and as I was leaving (near midnight) he was starting some pan seared scallops dish.

His cast-iron skillet was getting a workout.
