Back from a week in the mountains (very picture heavy)

Last week I was a guide for 4 of my friends on a backpacking trip thru the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area of the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming. None of them had been there before. Last Winter the snowpack was 140% of normal. There was still lots left, more snow than I have ever seen out there. The rivers were high and the waterfalls were spectacular.

Battle Park Meadow.

Getting through a tricky rockslide.

Lake Solitude.

The waterfalls by Lake Solitude.

An unnamed lake in the high country.

More waterfalls.

In places the snow was still so deep it was difficult to find the trail.

But, on the sunny south facing slopes the wildflowers were abundant.

Misty Moon Lake.

A piece of ice from a puddle next to our tent last Friday morning.

Lily Lake.

Trout from Lily Lake. Boy, were they yummy.
