What kind of Dish(washer) detergent is best?

First - what a fabulous forum! I lurk (and occaisionally post) around the gardening forums but this is my first time finding KT... a great mix of stuff here!

Here's my delimma: about 18 months ago we remodeled our kitchen and replaced the appliances. The old (but not too) white Maytag was replaced by a Frigidare stainless steel, bought mostly because we got a great deal on it. It works ok and looks great, but doesn't do nearly as well as the Maytag. (I could put the cheapest powdered detergent on the shelf in it and everything would come perfectly clean.) Not so much with the fancy new Frigidare... I frequently have to rewash some things, esp. pots and pans.

Replacing the machine isn't an option, and it's not broken in any way... just doesn't do the best job in the world. So I'm asking y'all's (uh... I'm from the South; that's where the "y'all" comes from in case anyone wonders! ;-D) opinion on the best dishwashing detergent on the market... what have you used that REALLY gets the gunk off?

Looking forward to replies to my first post here... I'll be lurking often! ;-D

Claudia
