Chocolate covered cherry ice cream bars

Remember not long ago, Stoney posted about those ice cream bars? I found them yesterday at Publix and, boy, are they good. They have a rather strong almond flavor, which I love. I would really love them if they came with dark chocolate coating!!!

So, thank you Stoneybaloney--I really need to gain a few ;-(

we've been enjoying the skinny cow ice cream treats...but omgoodness those sound good...i like semi-sweet choc too...

I made the Dave Lebovitz chocolate ice cream last night. It was delicious!! Very rich. But very easy to make. Thanks for posting that Tracey! By the way I used TJ's pound plus dark chocolate in the recipe. Hard to measure exactly since they are not in one ounce squares. So since the recipe called for four ounces, and the bar is 17.6 ounces, I just used 1/4 of the bar. Yes, just a bit MORE than the four ounces called for but I prefer to err on the side of excess when it comes to chocolate. Yummy!!!

Some years ago I had to bake six chocolate jelly rolls for Christmas logs. Only owned one jelly roll pan so purchased the two in one package of aluminum ones at the grocery store to speed up the cooking process. Much to my surprise I discovered the cake cooked much better in these cheap aluminum pans than in my heavy, expensive one. Really made a difference. That's all I use now for jelly rolls. Grease the pan, cover bottom with wax paper and butter it. After baking turn the hot cake out on a bath towel (this gives you a thicker roll) covered with powdered sugar. Quickly remove wax paper, dust roll with more powdered sugar and roll. I allow mine to cool rolled in the towel and then continue the recipe. These inexpensive pans are what I use also when baking foccasia. Works well.

The absolute best liquid-filled chocolates are from Chocolat in Fredericksburg, Texas. They're handmade in the shop there in the old, old European tradition, which means they not 'injected.' Chocolat offers candy with spirits, wine, coffee, fruit nectar along with other candies. The candy is divine and not to be confused with syrupy, sticky, icky sweet concoctions. Not sure where else chocolates are made this way in the U.S. Wine and spirit experts apparently can identify the liquor or wine vintage inside! One piece is extremely satisfying. The cream centers are too sweet so I always get Cellas. I haven't had them for several years but my grocer carried them this year. We've gone through two boxes since Thanksgiving. They have milk and dark chocolate. I got the milk chocolate.

LOL ... I'm glad you love them too! I just found another Blue Bell treat this morning at the store ... not quite as good as the chocolate covered cherry bars, but still good ... these are chocolate mint ice cream bars! All the new treats are really getting me this summer!

mmmmm, those sure do sound good. I've never heard of Blue Bell ice cream, so I'm thinking we don't have them around these parts. I've got to tell you though, I had a McDonald's mocha frappe a few weeks ago and have stopped every Sunday after church to get one. I think I'm addicted. I even take the long way home just so I'll have time to enjoy my treat in a relaxed sort of way. I'll be on the look out for Blue Bell ice cream. You never know, I may just be overlooking it.
