I saw that on Facebook! I wish we got Starz. We already get HBO just because we wanted to watch one certain show. I wish everybody would get together and put all the good shows on one station. Maybe it'll come out on DVD and I can get it from the library next year. It was such a good series of books. Diana Gabaldon is a fabulous author.

I am so excited about this. Love the books and am counting the days until the starz series will be on. I am hearing in April 2014. Just enough time to arrange an Outlander Viewing party in central new york!

I am happy to hear that and I think he is gorgeous a good fit.
Same thing happened with the Janet evanovich movie, I don't think anyone they picked matched my idea of the characters.

I think he looks fantastic for the role! I don't get Starz either. I wonder if it would be out on Netflix later.

I love the Outlander series and I think Sam will be a wonderful Jamie. I especially think so after seeing him with the red hair.

I know everyone has their own idea about what the characters should look like but let face it, if Diana says he's Jamie and she created him how can we argue with that?

Flamingo how many of the series have you read? I had the first three, and loaned them and haven't seen them since. Some of my knitting group friends have been reading them for a few years, and just told me that there are more than three in the series now! Guess I'll have to check them out of the library and start reading "real" books again, instead of on my Kindle Fire. I'll have to check our Direct tv contract and see if we get Starz. And I'll pass the word to my friends too!

They are all available in ereader form, I loved Outlander... In fact Diana herself on her website has put some of them up for free download. It benefits her because once you are hooked you have to have them all. There's quite a lot of them now. I posted not too long ago about one of her books on for like 99c.

Tami, I've read all of them except for the satellite books about Lord John. I agree with Raven, check your library, you can probably borrow the other books in Kindle format for free.

I've had my reader for about 1.5 years now and have yet to buy a book. :)

Back in the 1980s, when I was a member of CompuServe, Diana Gabaldon was a member of a message board I joined for writers. I don't think she was published yet, but she was clearly knowledgeable. I remember how generous she was with useful advice.

For some reason I never read any of her books, but I think it's time.

Thanks Raven and Mingo. I will check it out! I almost hate holding a book anymore. I would rather use the strength in my hands for knitting and beading instead of holding a book. My kindle is in a cover that converts to a stand that I can just set in my lap to read. So much easier on my hands! Handy for recipes when cooking too.

I find those really large books awkward and difficult to hold and read also. I have a Sony E reader and I made a little case for it using an old book and so it only weighs a few ounces more than my reader but I can still hold it like a book which makes it much more convenient and I don't tend to drop it like I would if the reader was just all by itself. I also made a little prop for that that I use when I'm sitting at the dining room table eating my lunch or something.

Susan, get reading these books! You have a personal connection to the author. Hurry hurry!

Susan, were you on the Compuserve forum when Diana posted the piece about a pregnant woman describing whatnots like to he pregnant? I think that's the piece that got her an agent (and made her a star!)

I've read all the Outlander series and love them. I do have Starz and look forward to seeing Claire and Jamie. I watched Pillars of the Earth on Starz and was impressed with their adaptation.
