The one thing you should NEVER plant...

I'm sure someone will have something MUCH more invasive, but in my experience chameleon plant (houttuynia cordata) is by far the WORST thing I've ever planted. Thankfully for me my clay soil was so bad that it didn't spread much (still EXTREMELY aggressive though) and I was able to eradicate it. While you're planning your gardens for spring please make sure this plant is not one of them! If you're looking for a groundcover, there's so many better choices. If you have part shade, things like galium odoratum (sweet woodruff), ajuga, or pachysandra are good alternatives.
