Our noon meal is over but they will be back this evening to eat more of the leftovers. This was our menu for today.

T-Bone Steaks

Porter House Steaks

Smoked Sausage

Hamburger

Hot Dogs

Green Beans

Mac and Cheese

Mushrooms with rosemary

Potato Salad

Cucumbers and Onions

Tomato Wedges from the garden

Carrot Sticks

Cheese

Chips and Dip

Strawberry and Bananas in Glaze

Yellow Cake

Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie

Strawberry Cream Pie

Blueberries

Nectarines

Strawberry Parfait

The girls were good to help out with things and we had a lot. So they will eat supper here later. Not many firework displays going on tonight because of the lack of rain. I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July. What are you having for your meal today?

Let's see...how long would it take me to drive to Indiana in time for leftovers??? No picnic or cookout here, I'm bored to death having to stay indoors because of the heat. I ate some applesauce, some pasta salad made from a boxed mix (won't buy it again), a hot dog, and then a muffin. Now I'm eating candy - the old fashioned Mint Lozenges, pink ones and white ones, like my grandma used to keep in a bowl on her tv all the time. Once I get started on them it's hard to quit.

And how many people were you feeding 7 or 8, a baby and 4 dogs, right? LOL. You're lucky we don't live near one another. Hahhhahaa

Thank you very much Theresa. John is already claiming it all as his and he doesn't even know what it is yet, lol. Lol, John said thats terrible. He just turned....not too old and can't even get his stuff today, lol. Just kidding. We just got home from Patty's house and he got more plants from her. I got him some baby koi for the pond and a tropical water lilly. Now I have to figure out how to keep it alive over winter but it was on clearance so I couldn't pass it up and he was drooling over it. They had a water garden place in Waco right by the boat shop, lol. Oh well. His variegated plumeria I ordered for him didn't come yet so at least I could give him something today for his present. He is getting as bad as me with the plants, lol. We are going to the lake tomorrow to meet some of his fishing friends for a cookout for several of their birthdays and I will be gone all day. Can you hang onto them for me until Monday or if you are up early we will be home til about 9am if there is anything that needs to get put in the pond right away. Thanks again Theresa.

Debbie Downer here ... my grandmother died, as grandmother do but she died on Thanksgiving. We had just returned from the hospital, which was hundreds of miles away, and were joined by my mother's sister and her family. Dinner has just showing up on the table and then, a phone call ... Mom could not celebrate Thanksgiving for several years afterwards. In time, she set about trying and I helped. I made the pies. So, I wasn't accomplished as a piecrust guy but I was a kid who could make pumpkin pie ッ. Approaching adulthood, somebody (probably Mom) told me that every man should at least be able to make an omelet. So, I added omelets to my culinary repertoire ... After I grew up, that book with the title, "real men don't eat quiche" came out and caused quite a stir. I didn't know what a quiche was but when I found out, it made me mad! It was going to be easy for a pumpkin pie omelet making guy like me, to make a quiche. So, I did! It took me quite awhile to realize that I don't care for nutmeg in them and I prefer a vegetable other than spinach. We use a lot of broccoli through the winter. (And, we'd have a lot of broccoli in the summer if'n Benjamin Bunny would stay outta my garden!!) Anyway, it's usually winter and usually broccoli but now I have bok choy in the winter!! Hey. Steve

Jane, great haul!! Love the bunny... and tiles too lucky you!! SLOW: I don't know who makes those glass flowers, but the've been popping up in the TS around here. I got 3 intact I put in a vase and one broke, I just stuck in a plant. D3bbi: I limit myself to the "OH COOL" stuff. I look at a lot of things and think...I could do something with that. I try not to buy those. Sometimes they just jump in my cart.... Maria

South Carolina peaches over hot buttered biscuits for breakfast!!! It'll be all downhill from that . Had a chicken salad sandwich while I was watching the pressure cooker. Hadn't planned on canning today but DD#2 helped me pick beans to cook for 10 tomorrow night. Well, when I saw how many there were I figured I might as well go ahead and can, and wound up with 7 pints. I had a good many left over so I won't have to pick many more to get what I need. Canning was not on my schedule for today and I still have to grocery shop. I just go with the flow.

Just had beef raviolis with pasta sauce & parm. cheese for a late lunch. They were frozen, but really good tasting. Doubt if I could do any better from scratch.

Also had three fresh apricots from the tree I planted about a year & a half ago. Went out yesterday & bought two more apricot trees from the nursery, & am in the midst of planting those now.

I love apricots, but have been disappointed with those purchased from farmer's markets or fruit stands until I found the Royal Blenheim. All others are second or third rate to that species, but it doesn't travel well, hence difficult or even impossible to purchase on the market.

I think radish sandwiches tonight....had some toast and a glass of milk this afternoon so no longer hungry.

Nothing too special.

We had French Toast for breakfast. Easy since I had all the stuff for it in, and DD decided yesterday to pop in early. Lunch was grilled veggie sandwiches. Unfortunately, I forgot to buy anything for dinner--it's been such a crazy week, what with the awful storm damage, losing everything in the fridge, etc. And nothing's open (DD made the rounds of all the pizza places, etc), so dinner was a can of ravioli from the emergency stash.

I did make a raspberry chocolate swirl angelfood cake, but dd took the leftovers home with her.

We put a pork shoulder on the rotisserie in the grill. I fixed baked beans, potato salad, cucumbers and onions to go with it.
