A Funny We Saw

Yesterday morning while driving around our nearby town, we saw a man in his yard trimming his one shrub out near the walk. What was funny about it was the fact it was an electric hedge trimmer and he had a riding mower and hooked behind it was an electric generator and had the hedge trimmer plugged into it. I suppose he got his shrub trimmed. Has anyone else noticed a funny lately?

I think he does. Using a generator and the price of gas it would probably be cheaper to buy a long cord and he could use it over and over and it wouldn't make as much noise.

We've had the golden Eagle nesting on our place for about 7 years now, but the other day, i was taking a short cut cross-country on my way to Mtn View, and I got to see a fight, TWO!! Bald Eagles fighting with a gold, think they might have been going over, and accidentally flew into the Gold's airspace!! Two years ago, one evening, late fall, hubby and I were privledged to see 8 pileated woodpeckers, flying one after the other--think they might have been migrating-- so much you can see if you stay in tune with Mother Nature. It will be awhile before I can buy anymore plumeria. I am just window shopping. K, was looking for a red, and the bloom is just beautiful. The 2 people I went to ask if they had it, told me they bought theirs today before the sale, I asked them who was the seller, and I was told German. I read the book and Julie is awful. Every other word is the f-bom, she complains about the "whiny" people affected by 9/11 who she is supposed to speak with as part of her job, is just a nasty, self-centered narcissist. Can you tell I don't like her??? I hated the book; the only part I liked was the story bits about Paul and Julia. So when I finally saw the movie it was ruined because of Julie herself (and heck - she wrote the book, and represented herself in that light). I also visited her blog once just to see, and sure enough, she was vile and insulting to the people who disagreed with her or called her on her language and behavior. I'm sorry I bought the book and put money in her pocket. I saw the movie on cable. Sad. Suzieque

Regardless of price, I could not live in a house that has an energy like that. juellie - the son was sentenced to 35 years... the girl got 27. I just looked them up online and she has 49 infractions in prison, ranging from selling/misuse of medications to unauthorized leave. How do you get unathorized leave in prison?? The son has 10 infractions and they're basically the same sort of problems. susan - I seem to remember that about the manson house now that you bring it up. gardenspice - I'm not sure what happened to the rest of the family. The daughter was married and the father was a truckdriver. Have never heard anything about them. I caught a glimpse of the man (new neighbor) and at first I wondered if it was the father. If so, he has gotten quite grey but it did sort of look like him. But, I can't imagine someone would come back like that.

Funniest (and strangest) think I've seen in a long time was a few weeks ago. Friends and I were out going to yard sales and we sew a guy on a riding lawn mower...pulling a push mower (backwards) behind him!

The on-site alternator is a fair idea. If the cord is too long, an electric hedge trimmer can bog down due to the voltage drop of the cord. But in this case, a gas powered hedge trimmer may have been more effective and used less fuel.

It was one shrub. How hard would it be to use a regular hedge clipper and save the electricity and the gas.

As I left a library in a nearby village this morning, travelling up a narrow road on a rather steep hill, coming down to face me was what appeared to be a child about 10, running ...

... and then I saw another head, beside the first: a boy was running, followed by a girl, about the same size.

A thought accurred to me as I drove.

When I got to the top of the hill, I turned around and went back down the hill.

The children were in front of a nearby house, a van had just pulled up, and the driver, having just got out, was heading toward the house, as were the children.

I stopped and said that I'd thought that I'd never seen a two-headed monster ... until I started up that hill, when something like that appeared ...

... but I wouldn't call the children monsters, exactly.

They sort of looked at me ... I think they were surprised ... and hope that, as they recall it, they may find it somewhat funny.
