I thought it was a wonderful movie too. So wonderful in fact that I bought the dvd. I too had tears in my eyes probably more than once.

We saw it earlier and loved it. Yes, I also was impressed with the attachment between the two, and the very touching spot where you realize they will not ever have children. Quite a wonderful movie.

I have been a Julia Child fan since I first saw her on television, don't remember when but I was still in high school. I loved the movie too, the only part that saddened me was that Julie never got to meet Julia...

What struck us both was the bond between Julia and Paul.

Me, too! Their relationship, IMHO, was what made this movie so enjoyable. That and Julia's "don't tell me what I cannot do" attitude. I had tears in my eyes at several spots in the movie (like when Julia found out her sister was pregnant), and definitely at the end.

It was the best movie I had seen in a LONG time.

I thoroughly enjoyed it too- I think the entire movie could have just focused on Paul and Julia. Their storyline could have filled the entire movie.

We liked it too. Gosh, you could see it just for the scenes of Paris!

Sorry to read what a user the 'real Julie' is. No wonder there were no bits about her DH in the DVD's 'Features' section.

I totally agree. I would loved to have seen more of Paul and Julia'sl life. I could comfortably have seen a video on just them.

We watched it on cable last nite, so didn't see anything in the features section. It seems to me that I read once she is cheating on him or something. Guess Fame has gone to her head....

I started watching Julia Child in 1965 or so as a new bride after discovering her on our PBS tv station in Bethesda, Maryland. Initially, I watched her not to learn about cooking but because she was so funny and a breath of fresh air. Then I decided I wanted to learn to make some of her recipes. Her chicken supremes with risotto rice is our family's favorite dish to this day, and now some of my kids make it for special occasions in their own homes too.

Julia Child died a few years ago, as did Paul in 1994. If she was alive today, she would be 98 years old.

It was Julie Powell who cheated on her husband, not Julia Child.

Loved the movie! Ended too soon. Wished it had kept going and going and going. So good!

I read the book and Julie is awful. Every other word is the f-bom, she complains about the "whiny" people affected by 9/11 who she is supposed to speak with as part of her job, is just a nasty, self-centered narcissist. Can you tell I don't like her??? I hated the book; the only part I liked was the story bits about Paul and Julia.

So when I finally saw the movie it was ruined because of Julie herself (and heck - she wrote the book, and represented herself in that light). I also visited her blog once just to see, and sure enough, she was vile and insulting to the people who disagreed with her or called her on her language and behavior.

I'm sorry I bought the book and put money in her pocket. I saw the movie on cable.

I will definitely look for this movie on my cable TV. I heard about the book and was interested when it first came out.

Is there a lot of the F Word in the movie? If so I wont bother to watch it. There used to be a site where you could send a film and they edit the bad words but I think they took it down

There's no swearing in the movie. The first I heard of any bad language was Suzieq's post about Julie Powell's book.
She is a rotten, spoiled brat! (Julie, not Suzie! LOL)

The movie is a wonderful, moving, tender movie.

I liked the movie alot. I'm glad I didn't read the book. Used to watch Julia Child on PBS years ago. I thought about buying one of her cookbooks after I saw the movie. May still do it someday.

I do wonder how accurate her life with her husband is, though. Who really knows but her and him? They're both dead and sometimes people make others into saints after they die.
