Wowzer, pricey for sure. But I always say if it will be used all the time and you really like it, I would go for it.
It would probably last much longer than 3 $300 chairs. And the comfort would be outstanding. You do get what you pay for, I am a firm believer in that.
No wonder the prices of Hotel rooms are so high! I would have that thing nailed to the floor!
I hope you get it, you deserve to treat yourself to some comfort.

There are some things in life that you shouldn't skimp on- a mattress for instance. Things that improve the quality of your life or your livelihood fall into the same category. I hope you can find it cheaper somewhere but if not just think how productive you'll become because of that chair! And a happier writer too.

Doing a Google search on Mirra Latitude Office Chair by Herman Miller I think I found it for $599 at the link below. If you do some more searching, you might find it cheaper yet.

Look for a good price and buy it. Several years ago I worked for a large company that spared no expense to create a quality work environment for their employees. We all had Herman Miller Aeron office chairs. I sat at a computer for many hours and have some nerve damage that causes numbness and spasms. I became a believer in these chairs. I was never more comfortable while at work. I haven't bit the bullet for one at home but you just reminded me that I should do some price shopping for one of these.

some officemax & staples carry a similiar product. you might also check w/ office furniture providers in your area. my boss, who has had several back & neck spinal surgeries, has had one of those chairs for almost 5 yrs, it was even more than that LOL. he got it from a local company that does office furniture installations, they brought the chair out and fitted it exactly to him sitting in it. he does not ever sit in any other chair in the office and of course no one dares sit in his chair lOl

if that chair fit you well and you, like i, sit at a desk all day typing, you really should invest in a good chair. i've actually been thinking of getting one for myself at work, i sit at a desk for 8.5 hrs a day, 5 days a week, i probably should be as comfortable as possible ~ liz

Herman Miller chairs are excellent. As others have attested, if you sit at the computer for long periods of time, proper seating is key to your well being.
I have a Herman Miller Aeron chair that is one of my favorite and most used possessions. I office out of the house and can truthfully say it has been worth every penny.
If you decide to make the investment, shop for a better price, like Sue, I saw them for less elsewhere on the web.
(I was actually pleased to see that the prices have actually come down on the Aeron model.)

There are several Mirra Latitude Chairs on eBay for $549. each. I didn't check seller feedback.

Try Craigslist too, you may find a decent used one for a steal.

Cool chair. Good (but pricey) brand. You only go around once might as well be comfy.

When I received my office chair it needed some repair, as one of the caster-holding plastic inserts at the end of the support bars had broken, letting the caster fall out. We found a piece of pipe the right size, cut it off at the right length and after the landlord's son welded it into the support bar, the caster stays in place quite nicely.

After I'd used it for a while, another insert broke and I haven't repaired it yet.

Picked it up at the curbside emporium just prior to garbage pick-up day - costing $0.00 ... which made some cents to frugal me!

Think about how many days you plan to sit in that chair, how many hours a day. Now, divide the price by that number. What does the price per day work out to? Now, is it worth it, especially if you can get it at a better price! Some times that's the best way to look at something that costs a sm. fortune. Am I going to use/wear this enough to make it worth the price? If it works out to a few cents/dollars per use, I think it's worth it! Go for it, especially if you can find it cheaper.

I have that very chair at my desk at work.
I run a 300 line switchboard, so I don't get out of the chair from 7:45 AM - 1:30 PM. It doesn't paralyze me or anything, but I wouldn't recommend it 1000$ worth. There are lots of chairs out there, be sure to do really good research before spending those BIG dollars. The company that I work for thought they were doing me a huge favor and I appreciate it, but I can't help but believe that there are better chairs out there. HTH
