A BIG congratulations to you on getting your license. I know how hard one must study, cram for tests and just about give up a social life... I'm watching my 21 yr old daughter do the same. She will be graduating this December after a 2 and half year course. She is also working part time as a CNA at a local hospital in the cardiac unit and the ER. She tells me how stressful studying and going to school and working is. You have chosen a great career, one that will always be needed!

Congratulations! You went through so much in such a short time and you still did it. You will be a great nurse, you have shown you can survive stress already. I hope you find the field of nursing that really interests you.

Congratulations! Welcome to a wonderful, purposeful and evolving profession. When I took my licensing exam (stone and chisel), it took two days and I was 100 miles away from home. My ride home on the bus was full of the same physical symptoms you had - I was wondering which ED to use instead of going home. When the envelop with the results finally arrived, I could barely open it. You did very well facing incredible challenges.

I am very proud but I am happy that when I get a job I will be able to help my husband out more since he has been pulling all the weight around here. I Lost my Job with EMS in Jan, after 8 years (another story).

I want to be a Psych nurse more than anything, I have a strong strong interest in the mental health field. I am hoping to get a job at the VA hosital, but we will see. As soon as I get a job and figure out my money situation. I want to go back to school online to get my BA, then maybe masters I am not stopping here. I am finding myself so bored in the day time though lol cause I was so used to studying all day long and now I don't have to.. It really still hasn't sunk in that I am a nurse its only been a week.

Congratulations new Nurse. I know it's been a long hard row to hoe but you did it. You have had much to overcome while going to school showing what a strong woman you are.

I took my state boards back in the day when it took two days to do all of it.
I went back and got my RN, with 3 kids at home, worked on weekends as CNA and took the kids to swimming practice several evenings a week, sat in bleachers and studied. Am now retired after 25 years.

Have two granddaughters that have become RNs the past couple of years.

Congratulations! I took my RN's back in 1970. We had five three hour multiple choice exams done on paper so I'm a little curious as to how yours are administered. Does the number of questions depend on how you are doing as you go along? Going back for your degree is also a nice career goal and I hope one you will achieve. We were the first year to write the three hour psych exam. What we were not told was that the pass mark was zero as it was a trial of the test questions. It was optional but suggested so we could licenced in other provinces. Those that opted out were not happy! Now the whole structure has changed and the testing combined rather than by subject matter - medicine, surgery, pediatrics, OB, psychiatry. If you failed in one area, you failed to get your license and had two chances to repeat the tests. The tests were only held twice a year.

Gotta add my congratulations to you, too. Hope you get the job you want at VA. My DH is a VA patient and they are the most caring, kind nurses and doctors ever. Actually, everyone who works there seems to go out of their way to help you. Good luck and I hope you find work soon. With your determination, I don't think it will be a problem ;-)

HOllY-.....You have a total of 5 hours so you don't really have to rush through the test, The min amount of questions means, that you either know your stuff with no question or you dont know your stuff, so you pass or fail, If the test questions keep going up to the max 206 questions, that basically means the computer isnt sure about you yet, they cant make a She knows it, or doesnt know it decision..

I obviously knew my stuff, but it had to be deep deep down in my subconscious lol. cause I walked out of there thinking I knew nothing, thinking I studied the wrong stuff.
