Well, I am taking a break. I have been trying to clean out my walk in pantry. Real chore. Now I am puppy sitting for Cheryl's KC and soon I will also be watching Amber's two dogs, Harley and Angel. Of course Izzi thinks this is all great fun, someone to play with. I will be going back down soon to do more work and fix some lunch. I want to try making a zucchini casserole and some bread sticks for supper too. I froze most of Izzi's livers and hearts and got that out of the crock pot. I also ran the dishwasher. I had to do some emails too, and so far I think that is about it. Oh, I did send along a gallon of the homemade laundry soap with Cheryl. I love bread and butter pickles. Of course I like most pickles.
For my lunch I just feel like a big plate of green beans and some tomatoes.

I would love to get my hands on some of those pickles! Yummy! Had plans to go to church and clean up our preschool room and lift the rugs so the men can paint the floor this summer. (PLEASE!) Then planned a lunch out with the two buddies I teach with to celebrate a birthday - BUT the birthday gal is sick so we postponed and I'm messin' around at home. I have a meeting tonight and it's my turn for snack so I've been getting that ready, too.

Sounds like you have the same recipe for bread and butter pickles that I have....Yesterday I put up bread and butter pickles and pears. Today I am making muscadine jelly. Lots and lots to give away and some to keep. I always tell others that I give away my jellies to that if you bring back the jar, it will be filled again next year.(;-) Somehow, I always get them back so today I will fill them up and probably deliver them this week sometime. They go mostly to the elderly in our church. I love being retired and spreading my love around to older older senior citizens. When I finish the jelly I am going to get lazy and read. LOL Tomorrow I start on squash relish. It is really, really good.

Here is my recipe~~~

Squash Relish
Ingredients:
3 pounds yellow summer squash, finely chopped
3 pounds zucchini, finely chopped
6 large onions, finely chopped
3 medium green peppers, finely chopped
3 medium sweet red peppers, finely chopped
1/4 cup salt
2 cups sugar
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 cups white vinegar
4 teaspoons celery seed
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground mustard
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
Drain vegetable mixture. Rinse in cold water and drain again. Place vegetables in a Dutch oven. Add the sugars, vinegar, celery seed, turmeric and mustard. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes or until liquid is clear.
Remove from the heat; cool. Spoon into containers. Cover and refrigerate for up to 3 weeks. Yield: 4 quarts

had to make a target run for a wedding card...dh had been invited to a reception but opted to stay home...it would have been nearly an hour drive...so the couple is getting a check instead...since the groom is "on the bench"(union for laid off) right now hope it will help...
it must have sprinkled this amas my car was "damp"..has made it it muggy...

i love homemade pickles, lucky you! today am doing nothing, im off all week..i think lol it changes daily. the ex called me yesterday so im supposed to be going up there today at 530 to pack all of my stuff up and bring it home. good lord i have no clue where to put it all..i dont even have enough boxes. to top it all off its yukky and rining here and the last thing i feel like doing is moving stuff! i guess im having a real bad day and its probably going to get worse. oh well i can deal with it. hope you are all having a better day than i am.

Azzalea- I knew you wouldn't let a broken ankle keep you hobbled. It obviously hasn't stopped you from making pickles. How are you managing with everything else?
