Do you have Yahoo mail?

I use Yahoo for some mail. I thought I had the "new" version. Today when I try to log on I get the message "connection refused." Anyone else having problems?

I don't use Yahoo as my regular email, but do have an acct there. I've been able to get into it today. I hope you can get your problem figured out.

try clearing the cache on your browser and see if that helps any.

thanks tumblenweed, it appears i can not do what i want. i saw the categories but frankly these are distribution lists ie more than 1 email address bundled into 1 generic name. so if you want to email 12 different people, grouping them into a distrib list makes it easy to send an email to them as you select just 1 recipient vs selecting all 12 individually. it would make no sense to put my commonly contacted email addresses into a distb list as then i'd be sending email to all them. it sure was nice to be able to put people into groups (folders) and then open that folder and select the address i wanted vs looking thru dozens of email addresses. i am surprised that yahoo hasn't figured this out. the only way around this is to put a prefix in front of email names that will then sort them and group them together. what a dopey way to get this but i may do it. thanks, tom

Ok I did not know about that. I tried it but it wants me to log in with my yahoo address and I have a different address registered with that site as I just send any large files right from the site. It's still the same if you use the email feature, you need to zip the whole folder first then navigate to the zipped folder and attach unless you want to click on each file one by one to attach. It's always been like that with that site as far as I know. To me it's no different sending from the site or sending from yahoo. Frankly I can't stand yahoo mail or online mail for that matter and use a mail program then yousend it separate if I need to send a large file. Mary

I should have also said: Be sure you know which folder your browser is set to for downloaded files. Change it to another if you would find that easier to work with (I create a "c:\downloads" folder on all my PCs. I point all browsers to that folder, so that I don't need to crawl down too many levels to find files) The file that will be in whatever folder you download to, that you'll attach to an email, is named: yahoo_ab.csv You should maybe first double check that it came out ok by navigating to it using Windows Explorer and then opening it with whatever spreadsheet program you use.

CEFreeman, I think you're my NEW best friend!! Omg, I love reese and since my new oven went in, it's cookie-dough from the bag as I *try* in vain to get it on that cookie sheet and into the oven. Oh so many fails ;) But like Legallin, I actually love the smell of french fries in the deep frier and such. But I grew up with my mom doing that all the time. I guess those range hoods always pulled the "stench" out enough for me, and I maybe it's a little cultural?? What we grew up with, so it smells like home? Or maybe these folks aren't rotating their oil enough?? I always filter mine before storage (if I'm reusing), refrigerate and replace often. We also only leave the oil out long enough to cool and then place it in glass jars. I like to think all of that helps... Certainly no grease stains on my parents' ceiling after 25 years in the house and my mom fries daily at least. Or the type of oil?? We've always been a canola oil family, so maybe it's lower odor?? ...wonder what deepfried cookie dough would taste like?? ;) ...especially if it was wrapped around a reese peanut butter cup... ;)

Did you try rebooting your computer? If so, try a different browser.

I've used Yahoo for over 10 years. I used to have to switch accounts every 6 months to a year because of spam but Yahoo was the first I experienced who put in place effective spam filters and they've worked well for me so I stay with them.

Yup,I've cleared the cache and rebooted the computer. Tried getting on thru IE but had no luck. Guess they're just mad at me!

Just tried again on Firefox, which is what I usually do, and Presto! There was my mail!

Thanks for all of the suggestions. sometimes computers have a mind of their own.

Yes but I dislike it. I have groups that use it. So I use it as place to have junk sent until I get to it. I visit it only once every couple months or so to clean it out.

I opened my Yahoo email account the same day that Yahoo went online, and to date I am still using the same email account without any problems

I've used it for a long time and never had a problem with it. In fact, it's the only e-mail I use.

for many it is acceptable but it definitely should be something you at least know is happening.

Ever since that dimwith tried to grow genitalia our emails have been read. Nothing new and I'm not naive enough to believe a company can or will stop them.
