I've always been pretty indecisive when it comes to what I'm going to wear. I often change my clothes a couple times before I settle on something. I've always been this way.

So lately, Grant has been very picky about his clothes. He hates to wear shorts that aren't knit (because that's typically what he wears when we're just at home doing nothing). He has now decided he wants to be picky about his shirts. He's 2 years old!!!!!!!!!! And he's a boy!!!! Since when do 2 year old boys care about clothes??? :-)

So he gets choices...shirt A or shirt B. Usually he chooses shirt C. LOL!!

What a goof!

how funny! my twin neice & nephew started being like that around 2 also. my sis hates it because i send them cool, hip designer clothes from ralph lauren, juicy couture etc...and they want to chose my stuff over her plain stuff LOL. i'm the one who spoils them lol ~ liz

My nephew was like that. Not only when getting dressed.
You could take him shopping for clothes, and he insisted on picking out his own clothes - at 2, and would pick tops and pants that matched !

You should see the looks you get in a store, from people, while standing in front of a rack of clothes, holding a child in your arms who is rifling thru hangers, looking for an outfit.

He's still like that...in his 30's.

Absolutly marvelous............I wish all my students wrote that clearly and to the point!! According to the note he seems to be about 6-7? He aplogizes, explains the situation, politely asks if he can still "be in the game", and shows dear, rather grave respect for the institution in question. The note's a prize, and so is the kid. oh, definitely--have the son put a freeze on his credit w/ the credit unions, in case dad tries to take out a loan or credit card. (is it possible that dad doesn't realize the son will not get his refund bcs of this? Maybe dad thought the only party affected would be the U.S. govt? And so dad didn't think he was actually stealing from his own kid?) And help your son figure out what he'd need to prove that he is not his dad's dependent: -rent receipts and utility bills from the entire year, to prove that he paid for his own roof -ATM-card records to show that he bought groceries often from a grocery store near his home, to prove that he paid for his own food -pay stubs, other work documentation to prove that he was occupied full-time and therefore not a student If he doesn't have any of these things, he can substitute letters (notarized!) from the appropriate people--landlord, boss, roommate. "Junior was a full-/part-time employee who worked X hours a week, from Start Date to December 31, 2006"--especially if he doesn't have pay stubs w/ hours worked, etc. Also to prove he wasn't a student. Have him put it in a folder, and label it, etc., and find a place to keep it so that he'll find it when he needs it. (I keep all receipts, etc., from every tax return in a folder w/ the return itself--just in case) Another thing perhaps, to help w/ the immediate crisis, is for someone who could be a go-between (paternal uncle? paternal grandma? you?) to call the dad and tell him he needs to give his son some money to make up for the fact that he has stolen his kid's tax refund. I know you're using the term "adult" lightly, and in this situation, you *should* use it lightly. Things like this are hard for kids to learn while they're still "kids" and being taught by their parents. This sort of grownup-finances stuff is why parents' work isn't done just because a kid turns 18. This could be a good lesson for him in how to prepare documentation for court, in how to keep records of finances, etc. (all the best lessons hurt, unfort.) I wonder if your son could take him to small-claims court for the amount of the refund? print out the reply from the IRS, ask his brother to testify to the conversation? The ideal would be if he could get his hands on his dad's tax return; I don't think you can subpoena documentation for small-claims court.

Assuming that Nick was tired, or that he thought you were interfering with something that he should have chosen, or something, & that he really doesn't feel like Chad is someone to swear about, in other words, assuming there's something to work with here... One thing I've noticed that men *are* good at is detailed directions/instructions. 1. When alarm goes off, push button. 2. Throw back covers. 3. Put feet into slippers. 4. etc Send Chad to a friend's house for the evening, & take Nick for a walk or a bike ride & tire him out, since people are more open-minded & less likely to erupt when they're a little tired ("physically tired", not "stress-tired", do *not* try this when he's just spent 10 hours on an excruciating project at work!). When you get home (be sure this isn't on a football night, or whatever night he has something else on his mind), sit down with him & tell him that you want everyone to be happy in the family & that you want him & Chad to have a good, strong, enjoyable relationship, & that you want to try an experiment. & have an outline of your "project" in front of you, with one goal & a few basic or simple steps to achieve it. Tell him you haven't thought past this first small goal, you want to start small, & ask him for his ideas for more steps toward the goal. Agree to get together in a week to talk about how successful it's been & what can be done to fine-tune the steps or refine the goal. At that get-together, agree to have another meeting the following week. Praise every tiny improvement as it happens during the week. (We know to praise dogs, & yet we forget to do it with our nearest & dearest!) When the first goal has been attained, or is within reach, ask him for thoughts on another goal. That first get-together may give you a yes/no answer: if Nick is willing to give it a try, even if he's wary (& people are often wary of something new), hang in there, but if he blows up & tells you to mind your own business & stalks off *& doesn't come back to make up & explore the idea further after he's cooled down*... then I'd say you need to take your son & get outta Dodge. oh my i have 2 neices and im blaming my 41 year old gray hair on them......they shouldve been boys for all the tumbles and tussels they do! lol but i guess girls or boys they all give you the gray hairs! and it never stops.....just hope my heart can take it? lord knows theirs can lol....i love your pictures, hes gotten so big sheese makes me feel old lol

I think all kids go through this stage. They want to make ALL the decision they can get away with.

You should have seen what my kids would wear when they were 2-4 years old. Oh my.... it was a sight! Good thing I was a stay at home mom LOL.

It is so cute hearing these stories from young mothers, I enjoy reading them. I remember those days well and loved every minute of them.

By the way, my son was very picky with what he would wear and now he really doesn't have a care in the world about his clothes. He is 21 years old.

Consider yourself lucky. When mine were that age, they just wanted to run around naked! lol I'd get them dressed to go somewhere and before I knew it, they'd be stripping. I have a picture of my youngest in his diaper and his beloved cowboy boots thinking he was ready to go out. lol

Grant is just such a cutie pie. Does Brent do the clothes thing too?

LOL He sounds like quite the character! Let me tell you from experience it gets WORSE! LOLOL The older they get the fussier IMO!
Maddie won't hesitate to tell us if she doesn't like something we've picked out for her to wear, she tells us "no, thats icky" LOL Been doing that for a few years now too!
Not quite the same but DGS's Drew (3) and Hunter (7) have their favorite items and would wear them every day of the week! Drives their Mom nutso!

My DGS#3 just wants to wear the SAME thing every day. Makes it tough it the laundrys not done!

My Son wanted all the tags out of his clothes at age 2. He also refused to wear "green". I think it's because that was his Sister's favorite color. LOL!

My 12 year old DGS has always said the tags in both shirts and pants "itch" him, so wanted them removed. We all are so happy that lots of t-shirts now have no tags.

For the most part I would let DD pick her own clothes when she got picky. I bought acceptable separates, so as long as she picked bottoms and tops that were appropriate for the season I was happy.

That is not to say she didn't come up with some humdingers. There were a few times I brought her around looking like she dressed in the dark.

But believe it or not, at the age of 8 she has a pretty interesting view of fashion and comes up with some pretty cool outfits on her own - combos I would never have come up with but that somehow work. I call it her "Avril Lavigne" look LOL.

Definitely not mainstream, but I don't see her with parrot coloured hair like I had.

My boys have gone through several of those stages too. Ds#1 had a really ugly shirt with cockroaches on it that he'd insisted on buying from the thrift store for $.50. Dd is even worse. Her opinion is that if it has pink in it, it matches. The pink cowboy boots go with the multi-colored shorts with pink stars that matches the pink shirt with flowers.
